Food was so so. Surprisingly oysters were very good, but the steak was flavorless. I ordered the platinum ribeye. Disappointing. Waiter was very nice and friendly but the servers that bring out food were terrible, constantly bumping into you and removing plates off table before we were finished eating, but then leaving plates that were obviously finished.
We had a 7:30 reservation and didn’t get seated until 8p. No apologies, no nothing. During the meal one of the servers dropped a cheesy spoon on the back of my sport coat and didn’t even say anything. I had to turn to my wife to know that there was cheese all over my back. The manager Colleen was nice enough to get some club soda to clean it for me and offered to pay for dry cleaning. The other male manager was smug and just looked at me like I was bothering them and my request for some thing to clean off my sport coat was an inconvenience.
The rest of the meal was mediocre. It was so noisy that you could not hear each other speak. We hoped the restaurant would redeem itself at desert but it was not good. Skip the chocolate chip cookie pie and ice cream. It’s a dry “slice of pie” shaped cookie dough served w vanilla ice cream.
Would not eat here again. There are so many better steakhouses in Chicago, don’t waste your money here for mediocre food and lousy service.
Truly great. The steaks were awesome. The apps were insane. Best food and vain Chicago.
First time I ever received a confirmation call and was told that that we had table from 7-9 PM. That raises questions but thought this is Chicago and maybe diners linger here after a good meal. Dinner took that long because waiter was the worst ever. 20 mins before we could order appetizers. 20 mins after appitizers were finished before they took our dinner order. I had med rare prime that was like leather. Was told it would melt in my mouth...probably would have after a month or so. Worst experience ever in Chicago. Dinner for 4 bill with tip - $400. Stay away!
The food was outstanding! I had lamb chops that were out of this world. The only downside to our evening was the very loud man at the table next to us, but that's not the restaurant's fault. Overall, the restaurant is very popular and deserves to be.
Wonderful service. Our waiter was extremely attentive. Food was delicious!!!
Had a nice early dinner at Kinzie. My wife and I only had a short time to eat before catching a show, so we opted for some light fare at Kinzie. Had fresh oysters, meatballs, salads, and an entree along with wine. Atmosphere was quiet, service impeccable, and food delicious. Not to mention the awesome jazz playing softly (ambiance). I highly recommend!!!
Kinzie Chophouse is one of our favorite places to dine especially for the special events in our family. The food is consistently great and the wait staff are always professional. Sue Frasca, the owner, does a wonderful job of also providing fun special events throughout the year to keep us coming back time and time again. Two thumbs up and a 10 for Kinzie!!!
Mother’s Day! Greatly appreciate the free bottle of champagne. The appetizers were wonderful and delicious, so much.
Business dinner for 12 - we had a large table in the back dining room. Felt special as it felt as if we were the only ones there as the wait staff was attentive and the food and wine was delish!!
Very good food and very friendly waiter.
The prices are fair.
What a great Chicago spot! The service was excellent and the food was even better!
We are always amazed how well Kinzie Chophouse covers all the bases. Keep it up.
Good spot for business lunch
Amazing food, service, and ambiance - great for business lunch or celebratory occassion!
Troy was our server and very attentive without being cloying. This is a Chicago Steakhouse and fits the bill. Everything is ala carte and costs will tend to go UP as you do. Appetizers can be $8 to $15, salads about the same, steaks can be $35 to $90. Plan accordingly. This place has a great atmosphere, no music blasting the patrons, some soft surfaces for any noise absorption. Nice spot. Expect to pay for all that.
We enjoyed the food. We were in town from Florida visiting Chicago on vacation. We loved the atmosphere. Our waiter was not so great. He was more interested in setting up for a large table coming in rather than waiting on us. He did not seem like he liked his job very much either. That made the experience not so great.
I am a returning customer because I have always had a great dinning experience - food, service, value - at the Kinzie Chophouse.
Amazing service, great food and made our anniversary night extra special! Will be going back soon!
I would consider this a high tier steak restaurant which comes with certain expectations. They met or exceeded all of my expectations. The hostess was welcoming and friendly and got us seated quickly. Our waiter was professional, knowledgeable, and did a great job being available without being intrusive.
I had a drink which was strong and balanced. Our steaks were cooked to our liking and were tender and flavorful. Side dishes were large enough for two people each.
The menu has many non-steak options. We enjoyed a tuna appetizer which tasted great and had great visual appeal.
I was very happy with the meal and would recommend this restaurant and will be returning myself.
Underwhelming food matched with poor service, really not worth it. when the maitre d’ finally noticed we weren’t happy she took money off our bill and gave us some dessert for free. Nevertheless, I would not recommend.
When we arrived for our noon lunch reservation for 6, there was one other table seated. They tried to seat us at a booth. I don't like booths on a date, let alone for a work group lunch. For no one in the restaurant, the service was sloooow. We were obviously ordering appetizers to share; the server should have said there were only two meatballs in an order to then avoiding waiting for him to come back to order and then wait for more. The food was good. $22 for a steak sandwich was a bit steep for the amount of meat. The restaurant filled in a little with the noon crowd, but the room just lacked atmosphere or any energy at all. I expected more for $200 for 6 for lunch. There are too many other places to go.
My husband and I had dined at KCH several years ago and enjoyed the food, ambiance and personable but professional service. We were in town with our adult children and couldn’t wait to take them there. We were not disappointed.
First, let me say that Rob was a fabulous server, knowledgeable, professional and very personable.
The food was fabulous-we had filet mignon, one bone-in, which Rob recommended and was delicious. Sides (esp the spinach and the mashed potatoes) and salads (pear was the best) were yummy. An assortment of desserts rounded out the meal (a chocolate mousse dessert was exceptional).
The ambiance was genteel steak house-white table cloths, mirrors, tasteful decorations.
This is not inexpensive dining, but worth it for a special
night out. We will return!
Food, ambiance, and service was great. I’ll definitely return.
Steak was cooked perfectly. The creamed spinach was outstanding. The man and cheese was just ok. Our waitress was not really attentive. Never checked up on how we were doing or if we needed anything. Restaurant was only 1/4 full
Best steaks in Chicago, bar none! Fantastic service and an overall great dining experience!
We wanted a special date night dinner & this was it. Enjoyed our evening.
Fantastic service from our waiter. Sorry I didn't note his name, but helpful, friendly, attentive...simply outstanding!
Food, wine and service are all top notch. On vacation and came for husband’s bday dinner. Fantastic meal, everything was prepared well. Great wine selection, and our waiter, Rafael, was attentive and had great recommendations. We’ll be back!
We love Kinzie Chophouse. Fans of being seated in bar area. Great wait staff. Excellent cocktails. Memorable charcuterie board. Love so many of the entrees. Wine list could be more approachable.
Even with a reservation for 2 at 8pm on a Saturday night, there was still a 35 minute await and no where for people waiting for a table to sit unless there is a seat at the bar which was full when we arrived.
I would never sit at the bar or nearby bar tables and pay full price for a meal when we could sit at a table in the dining room which has a better ambiance.
The bus boy (man) was efficient but not very friendly like the rest of the staff. The waitress was very nice but not always available.
The price point is very high and the cost of steaks is extremely expensive. Everything is a la carte. The cost for 2 for dinner (1 steak & 1 tuna), an appetizer and a shared dessert with a glass or two of wine and gratuity was $205.
Worst dining experience ever, kitchen had issues, only certain items were worth eating. Very disappointing
Hadn't been there in years, as we don't live in Chicago. Love the redo!!!
LOVE Kenzie Chophouse! We are sure to come here every time we visit Chicago.
Great food, good variety. Fantastic service! Will be back soon!
The service was prompt and the food was delicious!
Excellent service and entrée selections. Love the ambiance cozy and classy but also feel like we can be casual. Our favorite appetizers are the goat cheese medallions and the lettuce wraps. Steaks and chops are not the only options, wonderful seafood selection and other healthy options as well. Great meeting spot for having drinks in the City.
Nice local place. Wonderful to find a great steakhouse that’s not a chain and has real community values. Plus the prime rib was fabulous.
Fantastic food and service! Not to be missed
I was unfortunately let down by my experience last night, which was attributable to two main issues: 1) the service was INCREDIBLY slow and 2) my food allergy was not properly accommodated. To be more specific, our dining experience lasted over 2.5 hours because it took about 20 minutes to catch our server each time; my husband's second drink didn't make it until dessert! In terms of my allergy, they brought me a cocktail with the wrong vodka initially (despite my my request for a substitution), and I began to experience an allergic reaction. Although I did appreciate the manager coming over and re-making the drink herself, I'm not sure that the gravity of the situation was truly acknowledged. Also disappointed that I was still expected to pay for the drink-a $14 comp would've gone a long way on that one. We'll be thinking twice before returning.
I am really sorry to report that Kinzie Chophouse is just not what it used to be. I have dined here annually for many years as has my colleague. Upon arrival I explained that my colleague had a poor experience last year, but given great experiences in the past we were back! Unfortunately, my Kansas City Steak was overly fatty and not the standard of quality Kinzie Chophouse has served in prior years. My colleagues experience was similar. I don’t want to find an alternative, but I think it’s time...
