LOVE Kenzie Chophouse! We are sure to come here every time we visit Chicago.
Great food, good variety. Fantastic service! Will be back soon!
The service was prompt and the food was delicious!
Excellent service and entrée selections. Love the ambiance cozy and classy but also feel like we can be casual. Our favorite appetizers are the goat cheese medallions and the lettuce wraps. Steaks and chops are not the only options, wonderful seafood selection and other healthy options as well. Great meeting spot for having drinks in the City.
Nice local place. Wonderful to find a great steakhouse that’s not a chain and has real community values. Plus the prime rib was fabulous.
Fantastic food and service! Not to be missed
I was unfortunately let down by my experience last night, which was attributable to two main issues: 1) the service was INCREDIBLY slow and 2) my food allergy was not properly accommodated. To be more specific, our dining experience lasted over 2.5 hours because it took about 20 minutes to catch our server each time; my husband's second drink didn't make it until dessert! In terms of my allergy, they brought me a cocktail with the wrong vodka initially (despite my my request for a substitution), and I began to experience an allergic reaction. Although I did appreciate the manager coming over and re-making the drink herself, I'm not sure that the gravity of the situation was truly acknowledged. Also disappointed that I was still expected to pay for the drink-a $14 comp would've gone a long way on that one. We'll be thinking twice before returning.
I am really sorry to report that Kinzie Chophouse is just not what it used to be. I have dined here annually for many years as has my colleague. Upon arrival I explained that my colleague had a poor experience last year, but given great experiences in the past we were back! Unfortunately, my Kansas City Steak was overly fatty and not the standard of quality Kinzie Chophouse has served in prior years. My colleagues experience was similar. I don’t want to find an alternative, but I think it’s time...
Great place for lunch....love the atmosphere......one of the better places for lunch in River North.
Unfortunately the kitchen wasn’t at the top of their game that night but the manager went out of her way to compensate.
Great evening with friends and great food!! Service was excellent (Max was our waiter) and I would have said that even if he hadn’t brought me a tiny quadruple vodka by mistake!!!
Service was amazing. However, ambiance was just okay. Tables are too close for the space and resulted in an extremely high noise level. The steaks were good, but not amazing. The regular petite filets were quite thin. Drinks were very good.
I had not been to Kinzie Steakhouse in a few years, so I figured I would give it a try again. Sorry, overall is just a 3 out of 5. The food was good, service was terrible. We had a large party of 8. But the dinner just dragged and dragged on as the service was soooooooooooo ssslllloooooowwwwwwwwwwww. The waiter disappeared, and when we did catch him, it was like he was just trying to get our order so he could leave. They messed up drink orders, so it was even longer to get a drink. Quality of food was good. I have had better steaks, but the Filet was better than normal. Maybe smaller parties are better.
We had a group of 16 and were offered a private room which was wonderful. The food was great and the service was even better. I could go thru the menu, but everyone had different choices and all were happy.
And finished off with a chocolate truffeltini.
The food and service were excellent! Definitely want to visit again in the future.
Ordered Halibut arrived covered in a sweet sauce impossible to taste fish or anything else on plate.
Friendly & professional service, upscale environment, delicious food. Great for a business lunch/dinner or a date!
Excellent experience. Great menu with lighter items from delectable fish and salads, to comfort foods, to amazing steaks. Nice price range, also. The service was excellent. Their wine list is incredible, and love that they participate in Auction Napa Valley to not only buy incredible wine, but to benefit charity. Also love their corkage policy....first bottle no charge, and $20 per bottle after. A great dine in Chi-town!
I chose the 16 oz dry aged delmonico steak at a temp of medium rare. I was looking forward to the bold and tender attributes of a dry aged steak. I was sorely disappointed. The steak didn't seem to be seasoned at all, was tough and somewhat dry. Three sides were ordered for the table, of those, the wild mushroom risotto and cheese potato puff were delicious. The broccoli fondue on the other hand was barely warm and the smoked gouda cream sauce sat on top in a stiff pile. Due to the overwhelming accolades of the restaurant, I'm hoping we just caught them on a bad night.
Absolutely disappointing, save your money and use at a more established, customer-focused Chicago steakhouse. There’s plenty to choose from.
Caesar salad was bland. Fine. The 8oz filet mignon was cooked perfectly, but the “alforno” style was flavorless parmesan and store bought mushrooms. We had ordered the whipped potatoes because the waitress recommend it, but instead brought us the “four cheese” macaroni. Fine. However, the pasta was also flavorless, no four cheese. Canned Alfredo sauce with some Aldo breadcrumbs. Incredibly disappointing. The Cheesecake was great tho, so saved the entire meal.
At the end of the meal, we tried to use our much-earned $110 OpenTable gift certificate - that the restaurant itself promoted and thus why we chose to dine here - and was told by management that they couldn’t accept it because they can’t enter cards manually. Which, working in restaurants myself, I know is a lie. When a card doesn’t scan, there’s always a way to enter manually. Beyond that, management seemed unsympathetic and offered no apology or way to correct their own errors.
It’s unfortunate, but I guess we’ve learned to stick with the established steakhouses we know and love.
What was once one of my favorite Chicago restaurants is slowly becoming a past time. This experience along with my previous couples have been very loud and food was just mediocre. Desserts were prefab brought to us quickly and could tell they had been sitting out for a while as they were “looking for a busy evening due to this second Valentine’s Day. I find it very discouraging that wants the waiter or waitress realizes you’re not having alcohol your service suddenly becomes little to none
Took 3 hrs to get our cold dinner
I had an 8:30pm at 10:30pm we still did not have our meals. When the food finally arrived steak were burnt. We got up and walked out the slowest most unorganized place ever.
Went there for Valentine’s Day. Wait for food was way too long. The manager and 2 other girls kept checking to see if we received our food yet which was another red flag. steak was undercooked- They recooked it and gave us 2 complimentary truffle cookies. Overall not much of an “I’m sorry.” But overall don’t waste your time and money on this place. We live around the corner from this place and have wanted to come for over a year. Sad to say we will not be back.
Good mediocre and service was slow.
We went to Kenzie for Valentine’s Day and overall had a really good time. The restaurant was busy, but had a nice noise level and overall vibe to it. The service was very good - we were taken care of and enjoyed our waiter’s friendly approach very much. The drinks were good, and we enjoyed the complimentary bread. Unfortunately, both of our steaks were overdone. We both ordered medium rare, and ended up with dinner that was much more medium well. Not sure if that was due to the business of the holiday or not, but both were over cooked. We also thought it was a bit expensive for what you got especially given that the meat wasn’t prepared properly. Overall it was a good meal, but we aren’t sure if we will be back.
My good friend treated me to a delicious after work dinner. I had the Mediterranean lamb chops with chipotle mash potatoes. The service was excellent and our waiter Craig was the best.
Service was excellent, food was delicious, and the setting was a great ambiance for date night
Celebrated our 43rd anniversary, we enjoyed our entire evening of dinning at Kinzie Chophouse.
Fantastic all the way. First class service. First class drinks. First class food!
Loved this place. The servers were fantastic and the food was great. A wide variety for everyone. Their French 75 cocktail was one of the best I’ve had.
Knowledgeable staff, food was awesome
First time for dinner during restaurant week. Apple wood smoked fillet was outstanding. Just the right amount of smoke. Waiter was knowledgeable and fun. Going back soon!!
It was great! They did seat the tables close together although the restaurant wasn’t full, reducing privacy. But the food was spectacular and the service is phenomenal.
Food was prepared beautifully and was delicious. Our waiter provided efficient service. All of the staff couldn't be kinder. In fact, a staff person kindly helped us hail taxis and stayed with us until we were safely in the taxis.
We love this restaurant...service is always fun and spot on. The food is great. I love a good filet, my husband loves a good pork chop - it’s perfect for us!
Very important client dinner I had this evening at Kinzie. The service from the moment I walked in the door was impeccable. Very attentive maitre d’s, wonderful wait staff, they took the time to get to know us and our food habits and provided recommendations based on our eating patterns.
Overall five stars out of five for this great evening at Kinzie! I will be back here more often!
Very enjoyable evening. The steak was excellent, like butter. The service was second to none. (Troy you the man)
Very knowelegable, attentive, and courteous. Just a pro. Was looking to take my daughter out for a nice steak for her 19TH B-day, you know downtown, 5 stars, Prime Beef....
Let me just say did not disappoint!!!
and PRETTY reasonable for 2apps, drinks , 3 steaks, sides and dessert all around. pleasantly pleased.
Thanks guys !!
One of the best experiences I've had in a restaurant in a long time. Food was excellent service was excellent! This is a true Chicago restaurant
