Kobe Japanese Steak House
The word "KOBE" suggests to the gourmet the ultimate in the finest beef, raised on delicacies, and gently massaged to perfection.
Watch....as we lovingly prepare the tenderest steak, the freshest seafood, free-range chicken, and garden fresh vegatables....all before your very eyes in true Japanese style.
Nothing to add to the rating
Delicious this time around! Raffy was ON POINT! Mmmm
We’ve been to Kobe many times. This time, we had the distinct feeling of being hurried. The food was cooked very quickly, we didn’t even have time to eat what was on our plates before more was piled on. As a result, the chef was cleaning the grill while we were still eating. That was disgusting.
I always enjoy visiting this restaurant - we visit at least twice a year. The reason for a lower overall rating is as follows:
1. Despite having a reservation - we were made to wait 45 minutes for our table. It really seemed like an obvious ploy to get us to have drinks and make the bar look busy. The only reason we finally got seated is that after waiting - i said i didn't want to wait any longer and we were finished our drinks.
2. I understand that there is a price you pay for the show and presentation of food. Why isn't ice cream included on all combos. I understand that some guests may be too full for ice cream - but they can politely decline. At the full prices we paid - ice cream should be included for all combos, not just some.
We spent 900 dollars for 9 people. Give us some free ice cream.
The wait staff, the cooks, the bartender were all great.
Our chef is constantly mixing up our orders . I ordered steak and he served to someone else ordered chicken.
Had a great time with my son. Though there was a short delay before we were taken to our table, it was worth the wait. The other dinners at the table were all fantastic. We hit it off immediately. The Chef was great - displayed good skills. Food tasted delicious. The seafood and steak were all cooked to perfection. He kept the table entertained as well.
Kobe’s continues to be a favourite of ours when we visit Vancouver. Food is excellent and we enjoy the overall experience every time we have dinner there.
Tiny portions, way overpriced, food is average, can make better steak at home.
We were seated right at 9pm, but waited almost 40-45min for our chef. The food was not cooked to our preference. We had 2 orders of the tiger prawns but only received 1 order.(not the first time this has happened) It was a first time experience for a few people in our party, and they said that this was a first and last for them. I don't blame them!
If they would stop thinking of squeezing so much people in, and thought more about accommodation for their customers, this would be a very great, overall experience for everyone!
They never disappoint. Another lovely evening as always. Thanks Kobe! 🙂
I bought a groupon for my best friend and I as a belated birthday gift for her. From the moment we were sat at our table to the moment we were finished, our dining experience was incredible. The food was amazing, the atmosphere was awesome and the service was fantastic. I would highly recommend this restaurant and highly recommend purchasing a groupon for it as the prices are a bit steep.
Our chef was not as jolly as the others & not too interactive to customers. Probably he's tired
Always enjoy Kobe food. Table too crowded. Could barely move my arms. Consider placing fewer people at tables. We were a party of 5 in a space that accommodated 4 people. Chef put on great show while cooking.
Only issue I have is as a party of 2 for a date being place out on the corner of the table haven’t barely any seating room to eat with your stranger next door neighbour. Being with others around the grill is part of the experience, how ever I feel even one less person per table would enhance the experience for the corner end people.
I’ve been coming for years. This is the first time ever that the chicken almost burnt and sprouts way over cooked. Steak was overdone. Also grill usually it cleaned but this time was left all black. Also I had remind them about our ice cream and then the bill. Was definitely not a usual enjoyable dinner. Hope it’s not going to be the norm.
Nice restaurant with an authentic Japanese atmosphere, well as authentic as you can get in Vancouver. The prices are quite high but you are in essence paying a premium for the atmosphere and location.
Took our kids for their first Kobe experience. The food was delicious and our chef was really fun. Only thing i would say could have been better was the drink service. I waited too long for the server to take my drink order and my 2nd glass of wine came as we were wrapping up about to pay our bill. But overall the experience was excellent and our kids loved every minute.
Don't plan to go elsewhere after dining here, and wear casual and comfy, because you'll smell like smoke and BBQ!
It's not really fancy, but it's kinda expensive. It's a fun experience for a group. I recommend trying it.
We were here to celebrate my daughter’s 10yr old birthday as she picked this restaurant. We were missing our ice cream with our meal until we asked for them and also never received a free ice cream for the birthday girl. In addition, we normally get a cup of green tea at the end of our meal but that was never received either.
I felt the service was a bit lacked and the quality of the food seemed to have went down compares to the last time when we were here 6 months ago. I felt there are lots of room for improvement especially for the price that your customer is being charged.
It was new experience and was fun to sit there and watch food getting prepared in front of us.
Great food, fun place
Food was just ok, paying for a bit of a cooking show. First time I’ve been there in ten years. Doubt if I would ever go again. Overpriced for what you get.
Food was delicious, chef was wonderful and funny, staff very courteous and attentive. Great night out.
Fun experience. Although a little bit noisy, still fun. Would love to go again.
The food value is definitely not there. You do get a fairly large portion, but I don't consider 2 cups of bean sprouts valuable. We expected a teppanaki show, and it really was lacking. The guy was completely uninterested. If you have a Groupon or coupon then ya.. why not. Every person at our table had a coupon so that really tells you everything. I WOULD NEVER pay full price. They are trading off the name they built 20years ago, but that has really worn thin. There are many other places in the city with better quality and a MUCH more engaging show.
Chef Max was an absolute delight. Our reservations were first at 430pm which I thought was perfect as it wasn't too busy or smokey like others have complained about. Tell the chef up front if you are there for a celebration and they do extra little things to celebrate it which is such an unexpected amazing surprise. Can't wait to go back.
Our chef was so funny and the food was delicious! Can’t wait to return!
it was splendid
Russell wasn’t there, missed you Russell, and so the front didn’t know my preferences - didn’t know I do not like to go to the upper level, and that I prefer Michael as my chef. I was charged a share charge on my bill even though I ordered what I normally do. In the end, it was removed. I have to give credit to Michael and Al. I could see how busy Al was - was helping with reservations and seating and cleaning tables, and I did end up with Michael. Michael immediately saw what was going on and went downstairs to help. I didn’t even ask him. He just knew and helped. He was awesome cheffing as always, so the food was yummy!! In the end, I left very pleased with my experience. Thank you.
Been here a few times. This time our chef wasnt engaging at all. Usually it is a fun atmosphere but this time was boring. He didnt do any tricks or get the table excited. Food was alright no complaints.
Chef seemed tired and waitress where not on the ball
Great place especially for birthdays.
Our chef was very entertaining. He was quite experienced and friendly.
We really enjoyed our dinner and the atmosphere. Will go back again!
Date night, we really enjoyed the food and great atmosphere!
A big pleasant surprise as I thought it would be overpriced and touristy. The food and price was a good value. The amount of food was good, tasty and nutritious. The chef was great--good personality and good technique--didn't lose any fingers playing with the knives! It was also entertaining. We took our son to celebrate his 21st birthday and we all enjoyed it.
A fave place to go always great food and service and a popular spot in Vancouver
Entertaining as always
SERVICE VERY SLOW
FOOD NOT GOOD
TOO MANY PEOPLE IN ONE TABLE
A decent meal and a good time, until the Vancouver Gang Activity Police showed up to check ID's at the table next to us. That sure changed the mood. Food was fine, not sure it was worth the money.
Seating is kinda squishy but the food and service are great!
Good table service. Chef was great. Crap service in the bar/lounge. Bartender/server was rude and ignored us. Talked us out of ordering an appetizer.
