Kobe Japanese Steak House

Had a great time! Staff accidentally spilled some gravy on my fiancé’s foot but they were quite apologetic. We just laughed at the situation. I wish they would have offered to take a couple drinks off of our bill for mishap-but all good! The only comment I have was our water didn’t get refilled-wish staff was more on top of that part. Given a Saturday night, overall good times!

Max our chef was great! He even got my fiancé to participate (he is very shy).

Fantastic food and service!

We have had dinner many times here and keep coming back. The food is amazing. Service is awesome. Good entertainment as they cook right in front of you. Love the Green Tea ice cream. If you haven't tried their fried rice, you definitely should, and even though they tell you that one fried rice is enough for two people, that is correct, but order one for yourself so that you can bring the leftovers home!! lol

Food was good, smaller portions but overall the experience was unlike any other.

Went to Kobe’s for my birthday, when we came it was only us upstairs and it was a very nice and private experience. The ambience of the restaurant was very calm and quiet. All the ingredients and food was amazing. All the staff were very polite and helpful. Chef Jun was very entertaining as well.

Overall the experience is ok. I think it is expensive for what you get but the dining experience is different as the chef does put on a show.

Kobes does seafood and steak perfectly everytime. Ambience of the resturaunt is fun and exciting yet still intimate. It was a perfect dinner out with my husband.

If you like Japanese food, this is a great place to go. The chef makes your food in front of you. He puts on a show while making your food. He made my son’s birthday most enjoyable. We will definitely return to Kobe!

Not just the food but the staff makes this place awesome

The downstairs staff/hosts were quite rude and talking loudly about their plans to get drunk and go to house parties against local pandemic protocols, which we weren’t impressed with. Actual staff upstairs and our hibachi chef were amazing and we greatly appreciated their service.

Great night

Great meal as usual. The chef tonight was one of the better ones we had. Outgoing, friendly, made us all laugh and entertained us. Covid protocols were good with a Plexiglas screen separating different parties. The only issue was staff discouraging people from socializing around the bar area.

It was too many people and no social distancing. Small space had too many people in this situation.

Very entertaing and delicious food !! The chef was really nice and took good care of us.

Today is our anniversary, and our 1st time to Kobe. We looked very forward to this place and we had been excited about the dinner. However, the 1st thing disappointed us was the seating, it was very crowded especially in this covid-19 season, in the tiny room there were over 50 people, and just separated by a mobile plastic. And then when we sat down, we asked for a glass of water, I had reminded them 6 times, and the water finally arrived when we were ready to leave. It was totally poor service! Besides, the noise level is extremely high, we can barely talk! I swear I will never go back to this place and pray that I will not get covid from there!

Our Chef was Max and he was absolutely amazing. I have been to Kobe’s a lot and the chef makes or breaks your overall experience. Max you are by far one of the best at Kobe’s. You interacted with everyone at the table, and your performance was amazing. The food is always extremely yummy!! I wish all chefs were more like Max. You can tell you love your job and it’s important to you that we enjoy our time there. Thank you

I wasn’t a fan of the social distancing measures in place. An 18” wide sheet of plastic is not enough to separate me from the next couple.
We were placed at the table right at the top of the stairs where everyone walks up. There is not 6 feet apart from everyone entering the restaurant. People stop at the top, some are winded from going up the stairs. Some wait & take in their surroundings That whole first table shouldn’t be open. Neither should the other opposite the hostess area. Too many people gathering & then bringing you your food!

The tip on shrimp was really yummy always have to have extra ginger sauce. Teriyaki chicken combo with steak is very good to

Our comparison was with Japanese Village in Edmonton (I think there is one in Victoria also) which is the same concept and basically the same menu (Japanese Village has a teriyaki steak, which was the only addition that I noticed) . Kobe is more than double the price, and the flavour of the food is much more bland. The dipping sauces are not nearly as good, and you do not get a salad, green tea or dessert with the meals. We also felt very rushed. We're glad we tried it, but won't be back. Not worth the high price.

Good is good, unfortunately the chef did not live up to our expectations.

Impressive overall customer service from all staff. The chef Shoichi is super fun and knows how to make You happy. Wagyu steak was expensive but worth the money if you’ve never experienced it before. Love the big fire. More big fire

It has been awhile since we have been to Kobe's but we had a great night out! Food was excellent, fresh and cooked to order! Our chef was very engaging and made our special night fantastic. Was a busy night but the entire staff were very good, quick to clean up or take drink orders! Definitely going to go back again.

Our chef unfortunately was not enthusiastic and rushed through the dinner service. He did not perform a good teppanyaki experience. I have had this same chef before and has always put on a great show. But unfortunately this time it was not good and very rushed. Very upsetting considering the price.
