    We are regulars at Kona but tonight was the best meal yet. Jose our sushi chef was amazing. Couldn't have been better. Great job!

    Had a great evening with a couple of friends sitting outside. The sushi was spot on and service was outstanding. Had more than my share of margaritas and they were delicious. Would definitely recommend!

    Menu is getting tired. Sushi is way expensive. Server was great service was slow but to be expected. I made a reservation for 6, actually 5 plus high chair booster seat. They tried to put us a a table for 4. Place was not busy. Sitting an adult at the end of a 4 person table is not okay! That is why I made it for 6 because They have done this before.

    We were really cautious due to the low rating but the service and food were outstanding. The sushi was fantastic which in Kansas City I am always hesitant but we used to have great meals her in the pre COVID past. The decor is a little worn but the service and food were great. We would definitely go back!

    Food was mediocre. The Asian salad tasted like it had an oily dressing with no flavor - I used to love that salad!. The server left all the dirty plates on the table, from all the appetizer/salad plates thru to the main dishes. He brought dessert and there was no space on the table to place it. He took the electronic menu and placed it on the floor to make room. So we had to clear all the dishes to another empty table ourselves. At time of payment, he told us to get the electronic menu off the floor ourselves and use that to pay our bill. This was a very different experience from times in the past.

    Waiter was awesome and attentive. Food was good…but $25 for a poke bowl seems a little much for lunchtime. The up charge for the mini shrimp was *thumbs down*

    Had RESERVATIONS for 6:00 on Mothers Day, told there was a 45 minute wait, ended up 55 minutes. Manager at counter seemed to care less. I got several emails/ text confirming my reservation but not one saying they were running 45 minutes behind. Server was mediocre, at one time had six empty soda glasses and four full ones on our table. ( Party of four) Food was just ok, little overpriced for what we got. Dessert was best part, very good. This isn’t the first time we had been there, but might be our last.

    Kona Grill used to be our go to place for family celebrations. It won’t be in the future. We had a 2:30 reservation - didn’t get seated until 45 minutes after the reservation. Then we waited nearly another hour for the food to come. Our appetizer came cold with the meal. Two of the meals were cold. And oh, yeah, they completely forgot one of the meals. It finally arrived another 25 minutes later. All in all, this was our last time at Kona Grill. So disappointed.

    They were 1 hour behind seating us so that was a disappointment. It was Mother's Day though so we made the best of it and shopped around while waiting. Once seated, our server was very sweet and food was brought out promptly. Some minor delays during the meal due to business.

    Mother’s Day gone bad: Had a reservation at 1 PM. Waited more than an hour to be seated. Tables open everywhere. Must be a lack of servers. DJ playing annoyingly loud music in an already overly crowded and noisy setting. Got seated one hour and 15 min. later than our reservation time, and then were told the kitchen wait on food is over 30 minutes. We were starving and hangry. Food came finally came and the guys got their meal ahead of mine (on Mother's Day). When my meal came out 5 min later the asparagus was barely cooked, eggs Benedict was horrible - ice cold, no hollandaise sauce and bone dry. Pretty awful experience, and I take no pleasure in sharing this.

    We were 15 minutes early for our reservation but didn't get seated until 30 minutes after on Mother's Day. None of the tables had food which was a worrisome sign from the start. The waiter was nice but never refilled drinks and was obviously overtabled. The sushi chef was very fast though. There was many, many sushi rolls waiting on the passthrough with no one to pick them up. When we did get food an hour later, it was cold and missing items, like wasabi for sushi.

    The food was amazing and the staff was trying to accommodate the Mother’s Day crowd, but there were lots of unhappy customers. I think they must have way overbooked…. Waited more than half an hour past reservation time, then was told it was at least an hour back up in the kitchen for food orders. One table near us had a reservation at 10:30 and walked out at 1:00 never seeing any food…. The management needs to remedy this situation. We won’t be back, too many other delicious places with a better run reservation system.

    I hate to give bad reviews but if you send me requests I will do it. First it was Mother’s Day, and we had to punt our reservations an hour away and reserve anew at last minute so I was prepared that we might not have a great experience. Service was slow, we got our food 1 1/2 hours after sitting. The menu was very limited for brunch, not the usual and very expensive. Bacon and eggs $19. The eggs Benedict were requested without crab meat but came with, eggs were cold, and muffins and ham were hard and dry. $150 for 4 at brunch with only 3 drinks. Bad and $$$.

    I really wanted to enjoy my experience but it was not at all what I wanted. I always anticipate delays when eating out on a holiday, this was certainly not short of them [delays]. I actually witnessed other tables that were way worse than mine, they never even got their food AND from overhearing the conversation, the kitchen never even started their order at all. Well, I had already waited an hour and a half for my food, by this point and they were there before I was. I wasn’t as bothered by the wait time until they finally brought my son’s sushi and my plate out and she just dropped it off without a word to us. I’m not sure where on earth it takes nearly a hour and half to make sushi but, here we are! They didn’t bring anything out with his sushi (I.e. soy sauce, ramekins, no other dipping sauces). Then I taste my food and it’s cold! Not just a little cold either, completely cold. Which indicated my food had been sitting and waiting for a while. Needless to say, I had to send it back and they remade it so, again, another long wait. I absolutely appreciate that the manager came to see me, comped a portion of my meal but I still paid nearly $100 for two people that didn’t have such a great experience, this time around. Lesson learned: I will never choose this restaurant on a holiday ever again, they did not seem as prepared for such an abundance of people wanting to celebrate their mother for her day!!

    First, I want to give a shout-out to our server, James, and the rest of the staff for working their @$$€$ off to try and make the best of the $hit show that was Mother’s Day service. You guys were overwhelmed, and everybody— FOH, BOH, and guests— suffered for it. I appreciate how hard you guys worked, and I hope you clocked out unscathed. Best of luck on Father’s Day.

    Went for Mother’s Day brunch. Waiting a hour for our food. They had a limited menu and didn’t even have bottomless mimosas. I ordered the steak and eggs. The food was cold. Ordered my steak medium well and it arrived rare. Didn’t want to order anything else because it would’ve took another hour. The breakfast potatoes and bacon was delicious though. Oh and the mimosas were good as well. Would probably never do brunch again.

    Booked for Mothers Day brunch for 11:00 am. Once seated server did arrive until 15 minutes later with water. After that another 10 minutes before finding her to ask for mimosa order. 15 more minutes then she took our food order. By now, 12pm has arrived follow up on food arriving. Server states, “ the kitchen is very backed up there are slit more tickets before yours so it will be awhile. Asked for manager twice he proceeded to ignore us and walked by twice. We asked for bill so that we could leave. They told us we could go ahead and leave. 2 and a half hours wasted of our Mother’s Day. Will not be back!

    It was completely disorganized for Mother's Day brunch. Serving staff were not attentive. We could see into the kitchen and finished plates were sitting in heating racks for over 45 minutes. Sushi also sitting out with tickets on them for just as long. We never received our entries after wait for 90 minutes. We decided to pay for our apps and leave. Several other tables did the same around us. 30 people at the front were waiting to check in with reservations too on our way out. Very disappointed.

    Mother's Day brunch was a pretty awful experience. Other guests were slamming the back of our shared seat, pushing my wife and I forward every time. Kona Grill seriously needs to reinforce the booths that share a common backing of a booth with another table. If brunch is going to be offered, don't make it an afterthought. They served english muffins without having any jam, jelly, honey, etc. Butter was only available in a melted form (ie. for dipping crab into). The food took forever to come out and then it was cold when it finally came to our table. I really regret taking my family here for Mother's Day, and honestly I may not come here again because of it.

    On Mother's Day, we arrived at our reservation at 10:45 am with my wife kids and mother inlaw. We left at 1pm without having eaten a thing. Multiple other tables walked out as well. Would leave zero stars if allowed

    Reserved mother’s day brunch at 10:30 am, got seated and server took our order. Our food got served after 2 hours of wait in our table. I don’t know if they are short staff in the kitchen but we heard the chef is yelling on everybody in the kitchen. It was a very disappointing experience celebrating mother’s day in that restaurant.

    We went to Kona this past Sunday for Mother’s Day and we were disappointed. The staff was friendly, but sat us near the kitchen and under a speaker. Chairs were torn and dirty. The food took 45 min. to arrive. We were just about to inquire and it arrived. My Egg/Crab Benedict meal was cold. The very small amount of crab was tasteless. Not worth it. We won’t be returning anytime soon.

    Unfortunately we came here to celebrate our daughters college graduation . It was a disaster from the start. We had a reservation, but had to wait over 30 min to be seated. Once seated it took another 20 min before we were greeted by a server. Once the server came, he said he didn’t have time to take our order at this point and would only be able to get our drinks. Another 10 min go by before he was back. Then another long wait for food. I will not be coming back

    We made reservations and were seated in a booth away from everyone ~ our server kept calling us baby and loves? She was young so it was strange. We have been to brunch at least 10 times before and the food was wonderful ~ not so this time. I had a Saturday off for the first time in 6 months and was very excited to have brunch! Your loco moco is half the size it used to be? What happened to the hamburger patties? Hardly any mushroom gravy?

    We had a wonderful experience. The manager who has been there three years was awesome! Need more people like him. No one is above or below him.. everyone is equal. I appreciate his attitude. He deserves a day off/raise/spa day.. I know it’s a tuff world, but he had a great attitude and we will be back. The food was warm, and drinks were refreshing g. The plaza location. Pls give my gratitude.

    Server was great but our steaks were cooked poorly, nothing was seasoned, and we waited 50 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The music was so loud it was like being in a club. You shouldn't have to scream across your table on date night.

    A good Friday night to bring your wife; able to get seated close to our reservation time. Food was great as well the server did a good job with our requirements. A remodel may need to happen in the near future as the waiting room seats are in need of upholstery; the leather-vinyl is in poor condition. As well the men's bathroom door windows have been busted out for some time now. Still recommended based on food & service.

    Poor experience start to finish. Hostess was flustered and it took a while for us to be seated despite our reservation. Entry way seating was ancient and shredded. The booth we sat at was dirty with trash on seat and silverware under table. The diners behind us clearly also had a bad experience and were complaining to the manager. Our server was great but despite placing our drink order immediately we didn’t get our drinks for 15 minutes when our food arrived. Our potstickers were barely warm and our sushi was just okay. Will not return.

    The restaurant was basically empty, it took around 15 minutes for our server to get to our table, another 10 for the drinks, the food used to be good not anymore. It was disappointing, cause I used to like this place a lot

    Pathetic service, food was cold after waiting for very long, bartender was busy trying to pick up girls and had to be reminded about getting customer drinks out and the food itself was not tasty. Would not recommend!!!!

    Restaurant was well overbooked the night we were there as it was high school prom night. Food was excellent but service was poor because wait staff was overworked. They were very nice and helpful but clearly had more tables than they could successfully manage.
