Kona Grill - Troy
Fri - Sat: 11a-12a
Kona is always a good choice for us! Sushi menu has expanded, and is good...we tend to stick with the Asian themed food, although they do have tons of different options.
Kona Grill never disappoints. I love hanging out in the bar area during reverse happy hour. I love coming for sushi and I love coming for a more traditional meal as well. Service is always good. Food is delicious.
My opinion may or may not matter it depends on the individual. My over experience was very nice. I had only one issue. Majority of the food choices contained some kind of spicy. It appeared to be difficult to eliminate the spicy from the select food choices. Which limited what I could eat. However, if you love spicy food this is the perfect restaurant for you. Note: they have a very delicious "Carrot Cake"!!
Despite the spicy I will return to Kono Grill........
Magical night. Thank you for making it even more special.
This was a disappointing visit to a restaurant I'd had good expectations for. The food was appealing, but not outstanding. The 'healthy eating' options that were advertised were not actually present unless we wanted to eat appetizers, sushi/sashimi, or order from the children's menu and skip entrees entirely - some items have so many calories and grams of fat listed that it was hard to imagine what could go into them to make them so unhealthy. The waitress was brusque and pushy - she removed the plate from the first done out of our party of 5 and asked if they wanted to see the dessert menu while the other 4 of us were still perhaps halfway through our meals.
There is more and more choices in the Troy area, Kona has been one of my favorites but is starting to lag. The tables looked beat up and my wasn't very clean when we sat down. Had to hunt for the waiter to get our bill. The music level at the bar is always way to high - my mom used to love the food but I can't take her and sit on the patio because you cannot have a conversation. As other restaurants open in Troy I will frequent less.
Kona has fallen along way in a year. Used to be the spot now just another place to go.
Crowd has changed significantly, food all of it was too spicy. My wife typically likes spice and it was a bit much for her.
Waiter didn't know difference between service and being part of the date. He was at the table every 3-5 minutes.
For $120 for 2 people not what I would expect rather spend the 220 and go to capital grill.
Impressed with my first visit. Sushi was excellent. Miso soup was average.
Will likely come again.
Always great service and great consistent food! My drink was awesome as well!
Food was very good, but the service was not up to par.
Waitress was rarely seen; even forgot a drink that was ordered fifteen minutes prior and had to remind her when she came by to fill water glasses.
Also, we were celebrating a Birthday - would have expected the offer of a dessert or drink on the house for the Birthday recipient, but not such luck.
Thank goodness the food was up to par.
I was very pleased with our service- the waiter was attentive, and the appetizers and entrees were delicious.
Drove 25 miles because it is one my daughters favorite places. Despite having noted fact we were celebrating her Sweet 16th birthday, there was no mention of this by server until we mentioned it after meal. In the past Kona has offered a dessert for celebrant, but this is no longer the case. Server put a candle in the dessert we ordered. Service was just not good, maybe due to a few Homecoming groups,.. food is always great, but overall experience was so very disappointing.
Four of us were getting together after not seeing each other for a while. Our server was understanding that we were chatting. Our chopped salads were amazingly good even though the salmon was a bit dry. The club sandwich looked amazing and the taro chips were enjoyed by all.
Our beer and cocktails took a long time to arrive. Our appetizer was already eaten by the time they came.
Service was a little slow and the birthday we were celebrating with received her food with a strand of someone's hair.
I like the food and the environment. The people were cool and the place was very clean.
The quality of food has really gone down at Kona. They must have changed chefs or management. We weren’t a huge fan of our server either. They used to be much friendlier.
Menu changes disappointing. Bring back the tomato bisque soup. Love the Kona chopped salad but the birthday boy ordered w/o egg and his salad came with. We asked the waiter to leave the other with us to let others at the table try it.... and he made a big deal about how he HAD to take it or charge us. We told him go ahead and charge but I really think considering the circumstances, it should have been removed. And finally, your drink prices are getting too high. We used to come here for special occasions and an occasional night out but doubt we’ll be back, at least for awhile. Time to check out the competition.
I had a Birthday dinner that consisted of 17 people and the server handled himself very well. Food took a while, but once it did arrive it was very tasty. Only thing I disliked was Happy Hour was only for customers who were at the bar section. Overall, my first experience here was great.
A bit noisy on a Wednesday night, but the service was friendly, the food was good and the deals were worth the trip
Coffee wasn’t that great other than that I had a great experience with my family
We enjoyed the food. I think your staff needs to learn more about gluten free options and my salad, which I asked for gf was brought with croutons.
Food was good. Service was average. Way too noisy for me. Probably could use a remodel.
We always enjoy Kona Grill except for the noise levels. Food and service were great!
Went there for a first date. The waiter was very friendly and attentive. Food was great. They didn't rush us. It was a great overall experience.
Disappointing experience at Kona Grill. Service was not very attentive, and we were plagued with fruit flies and flies flying around our heads and table all evening. Seated in a back corner by the rear entrance, the lighting was dark and there was no ambiance. So disappointed in this trip to Kona Grill. I won’t plan to go back, with so many other dining options in the area.
My order was wrong at first they brought the correct thing but I was charged for both
We had a party of 8 took a long time for us to be check on as far as water refill
Drink refill etc ...
it was my birthday dinner
The sushi is awesome! The food is great and the service was terrific
Kona is usually a great place. The night we went was horrible. Service was terrible. Manger defended the waitress and blamed it on the new girl on the kitchen. Had the waitress communicated with us throughout the night, my review would be better.
My daughter chose to go here for her birthday. Made a reservation and selected birthday. The hostess must not of checked us in because I received an email stating that I did not show up to my reservation.
Took 15 minutes to get drinks and another 45 minutes to get food. Ordered a dessert with a candle as a surprise for daughter but after 1/2 hour we had to track down the manager because dessert and waitress were nowhere to be found. Manager comped dessert and gave us another one for free, but I had to ask for a candle in front of my daughter. We were there for an hour and forty minutes for a meal and dessert. Wasn’t overly busy for a Monday night. Not sure when or if I’ll go back.
Kona Grill has amazing food and service, but for some reason, the restaurant was extremely loud when we were there, and it was very hard to hold a conversation since we all felt like we had to shout to be heard.
New salad with salamon was excellent.
Delicious as usual! New items on the menu too! Best sushi in town!
Noise level was high on the patio because it was Woodward Dream Cruise night and the amount of car noises on the road was spilling over. Otherwise great night.
First time visiting Kona Grill.... many food choices that are unique.... crispy Brussel sprouts with tuna was very very good....
One of the best Carrot Cakes I've ever had!
Corissa is an awesome waiter!!
One of the best restaurants in the area hands down! It’s my favorite go to place when I’m hungry.
Overall great food and wonderful service! Lots of options and amazing sushi!
Server was non-communicative and didn’t check on us once.
Very nice evening. Food was good plus pleasant atmosphere. Our server Brooke was excellent...did a great job and made our evening even better.
