La Bettola di Terroni Ratings and Reviews
Always a pleasure to dine at La Bettola di Terroni. Friendly and knowledgeable staff. Fabulous wine selection and wonderful food. My husband and I have been dining here for years. We reserve a table whenever we have events to attend in the downtown Toronto area.
I hated it. There was a table of women that were so loud and obnoxious and the manager or server never did anything about it. I’ll never come back! I’ll tell everyone the same!
We loved our meals, my wife had Pasta Putinesca and I had the Sausage pasta, both were delicious.
The service was very good, the staff were friendly and very pleasant. The Wine list was good, although most were expensive.
We will definitely visit again soon.
Fantastic authentic Italian cuisine. Warm mushroom salad was amazing. Hand made pasta simply lovely. No poultry on the menu but otherwise a great selection. One of Toronto's fine bistros.
Despite having reservations at 5:30 we were originally seated in a far, dark corner in the more casual little area to the north in the restaurant . We were moved once I complained and asked to see what else was free- turned out many window table were available after all !
Our waitress rarely smiled , did not offer information on daily specials , we had to ask 2 times for black pepper and she never once asked if we liked our food ( which was good).
The menu was limited at this location with very little in the way of selection . I would not return to this restaurant but would go to their other location on Adelaide.
Food was excellent as was the service.
Searing was cramped. Very noisy from the crowd and then extremely annoying sound track of which all you can hear is the Bass. Could not hear my wife speaking.
Great spot for a pre-TIFF line-up meal. Limited, but good, by-the-glass wine selection and the pasta offerings were both excellent. Caprese salad, with buffalo mozzarella, was very good, though the vinegar in the dressing lacked `bite' (or perhaps there was just not enough to make an impression).
Loved this spot! A treat during our busy days of TIFF. We will return tomorrow to try more lovely pasta options.
We had attended tiff and made an early dinner reservation for 5:15. We each had a salad for starters . I had the Insalata Barbabietole, highly recommend the interesting combination of ingredients.. We shared the Primaverile pizza which we both loved. My friend enjoyed a glass of wine from a great selection and I enjoyed a most perfect latte. A great place and will continue to dine there.
great food and ambience, excellent service, clean restaurant, close to parking and theatres.
Awesome food, prompt and friendly service. Overall a great experience.
Excellent meal, as always!
The food is quite good. It's on the pricey side for what you get, but the pasta with truffles is lovely. It's a hopping place and has a good vibe. The servers look a little flustered sometimes, but it seems like the after work crowd and the theatre crowd all descend at the same time.
The food was pretty good. I had an interesting pasta dish which was like an open tortellini and it was very tasty. One of us had the seafood pasta and he did not enjoy it. The pizzas very very thing and very good. The caprese salad was quite large and quite good.
We were visiting Toronto with friends to celebrate their anniversary. We were recommended the restaurant. The service we received was the most distracted, disjointed service I have ever received. Our server dropped a bottle of champagne while opening it at an adjacent table. The bottle bounced spraying a stream of champagne up, and directly into the back of one of our party. The server also was hit in the face with champagne. The table she was serving reportedly included the General Manager of the restaurant. She was embarrassed, started to cry and ran out of the restaurant. We sat for 20 minutes with no service and no apology or attention. Both the General Manager and the Restaurant Manager seemed only concerned about the mental health of the server. Later the server drifted back to our table. My friend mentioned that she was soaked, up her back and in her hair, to which the Server responded, "that is nothing, I was hit in the face". No apology, or attention was offered.
When we finally were offered dessert, three of four ordered. The server had recommended a dessert to me. Two desserts were delivered to the other two by a bus person. About 10 minutes later the server came back to the table. She noted me looking inquiringly at me and asked "why are you looking at me, did I forget something?.....oh yes the.....". To which she added, "don't mind me I am very distracted". It seemed she thought I would no longer want the dessert. She had to be asked to expedite the dessert.
Suffice it to say the service was atrocious. What was amazing was that the Manager or General Manager did not pay attention to ensuring the customers were appropriately treated.
The meal experience was varied. Two of four found their dinners delicious, one average, and one did not enjoy the taste and did not finish the meal.
The person who recommended the restaurant has previously had good experiences. Our experience would not warrant a recommendation.
I have dined here a number of times. Consistent ....good value......
The food was delicious. The service was slow.
Always a great meal with good service. Must try the Chitara Norcina pasta - one of the best pasta dishes in Toronto.
One of my now favorite restaurants! I'm a complete foodie and the pasta here is the real deal!!
We come all the time. The first time ordering the Orecchiette. Very nice addition to the menu
We went in this restaurant for a dinner in a rainy evening, suggested by a friend. We tried an Italian pasta all a Norma with a glass of wine. It was all very good, the quality of the food, the taste and the kindness of the Italian girl we served our dinner. Recommended!
We were visiting from Chicago and wanted to try something Italian, plus we were staying literally across the street an extraordinarily plush hotel. The outside looked welcoming and I guess we just expected more once we got in. The noise level was LOUD! The service was inattentive and not very informative when we had questions regarding menu selections. The wine by the glass selections were very limited to say the least. I ordered a martini and got quite literally one ounce of gin sitting at the bottom of an old-fashioned, on-the-rocks glass with three olives that never touched the gin! My jaw dropped!! That should have been the indicator of what was to come--and it was. Our salad came first and way late. Then about two minutes later our main course arrived. Lots of plates and silverware floating around a table for two. And I still had two dry olives in my glass!! The main course was pretty good, but negated by everything else.
We always love La Bettola di Terroni but this trip was extra special because we book the reservation as we headed home from our Quebec road trip... 10 hours seemed like nothing when we knew what the finish line was
Great food, good service, just not much personal space.
Hadn't been to the resto in a number of years . Chose it for this occasion because of it's proximity to the Mirvish Theatre. Although we had a reservation we chose to sit at the bar. Bar tender who served us was very helpful in making suggestions and even talked my wife out of the appetizer she had ordered which he thought was too much in addition to the the main course she ordered. My appetizer (a mushroom salas) and pasta ( Chitarra with sausage & truffle Shavings) were both excellent. My wife's app and main were average. Dinner for two including s bottle of wine and a shared dessert was $200. Including tip which is a bit pricey for a pasta dinner.
I love to go and sit at the bar and have my meal. The chef is always watchful and nothing goes out unless it's perfect. I've been to most terroni locations and though it has a smaller menu what they do put out is superior in quality. Bar staff are great. I keep going there at least once a week.
We were seated right next to a couple of ladies, one who was bi-polar going through a rough patch. It was after the lunch rush and there were lots of empty tables. My advice, only when absolutely necessary, sit two separate couples side by side. Other that that seating faux pas, everything was great.
Food was excellent but prices were a tad expensive. Generally you are paying about $20 per person per lunch
Great food, good service and nice ambiance! A place I will definately return to and recommend to friends and collegues.
Food was good, service was great. Some of the pastas were a bit too salty for our tastes.
Bad service small portions waitress with bad attitude and very uncooperative
Food wasn't as good as expected. Better restaurants with better food at same price.
Overall, it was a good visit. The food was well prepared and tasted great. Be prepared...the main dish portions are quite small . To be full, one needs to fill up on break, water and an app.
we were seated immediately. water was served and the waitress explained the specials..
the crostini we ordered was a bit hard.. overtime we took a bit a piece of toast flew somewhere.
the wine that was recommended was very good.
my wife loves the pizza.. I had the halibut... halibut is expensive... but tasty
Portions were very small in comparison to the price and the cost of the meal. No accommodation for children. Very very noisy.
The food here is excellent. That (in my opinion) is not up for debate.
However, I took a client there for lunch today and had a bad experience. We were told about the daily specials, but prices were not given. Both I and my client ordered the fish special. The average price for a main at La Bettola is probably around 24 dollars, so imagine my absolute shock when I got the bill and each main course was a whopping $45. Yes that's right...90 dollars worth of halibut for two people. At lunch!
Since it was a business lunch, I clearly couldn't say anything at the moment, but I was further disappointed when I called the manager later to politely discuss the incident and how I didn't believe it was appropriate to not advise customers of the price of the special, especially when it was almost twice as expensive as any other main course on the menu. He basically said that the server should have told me and that he was sorry. That's it. No attempt to make amends - no gift card, no come back and we'll give you some dessert. Nothing.
I won't be back based on this - the server was misleading and the management had no interest in making it right.
First time at this restaurant. Had the best pizza and dessert since I lived in Pittsburgh. This is true authentic and fresh homemade ingredients. The dessert was a homemade, true Italian vanilla creme gelato covered with a hardened dark chocolate and side of espresso. It doesn't get any better than this.
The food, the wine and the dessert were absolutely fabulous and the service amazing as usual.
Suggested tip on Bill including HST is 18 to 25%. What happened to 15% on food and beverage. Why should I pay 18% plus on HST for ok service.
Quick service and great food before theatre. Wonderful location and ambiance.
