The restaurant does not disappoint. The food was delicious (I had the special chilled avocado soup, the sweetbreads, and the Grand Marnier soufflé); the ambience cozy and warm - elegant but not pretentious - and the service, including the waiter and Maître d', was attentive and efficient. We’ll be back again soon!

Always a delight to dine at La Chaumiere, one of Georgetown's timeless gems. Seasonal specials are worth exploring in addition to traditional favorites. Service is genteel and the atmosphere tranquil.

Superb neighborhood French restaurant. We’ve dined there for nearly 50 years and the quality of the food, ambience and waitstaff has never been anything but top notch. This is a restaurant where they are serious about their food and the experience they provide, but they do not take themselves too seriously. The Venison filet is my all-time favorite main course, with Soufflé for dessert. Veal Sweetbreads are also fantastic here. But I have tried many items on the menu including seafood and have never been disappointed. They have a good, reasonably priced wine list as well.

We love to dine at La Chaumiere which is why I picked it for my birthday celebration. We have been coming here for years and we have a wonderful relationship with Martin, David, Marcello and Pete. They are lovely people who work tirelessly each evening to make their patrons evening the best it can be. Chef and his staff always prepare incredibly delicious and wonderful foods. And on my birthday evening they spared no expense. It was truly a treat. I thank each and every one of you for making my celebration extra special. Until we meet again!

Took ages to even get a menu let alone order. Waiter was extremely busy and not friendly at all. Spoke to us like children. Food was good if you want traditional French food. Restaurant was cold (we sat by the ac). Not very diverse crowd. We alongside another couple were the only ethnic minority

Sole meunière was excellent! Oysters were plump, but without tast. Terrine de pate maison was overly fatty. Chocolate soufflé was a dry, puffed up crust…no taste, but for the added crème anglais. Our server was clearly distracted/disinterested; was rushing us for choices without discussion and was inattentive during our meal. Annoying as the restaurant, during the 6pm hour, was not crowded. Otherwise the manager and staff were very friendly and welcoming. It was a C+ experience. Perhaps our next meal experience will be up to standard.

We celebrated our 50th anniversary at La Chaumiere, changed our reservation time at the last minute (they were very accommodating). Delicious, hot food -- dover sole and beef medallions. Chocolate soufflé for dessert. Nice, efficient service, no chitchat. Animated, noisy ambiance -- tables really close together.

We had an early reservation at La Chaumiere and had the opportunity to see the restaurant fill up. The food is wonderful. See the photos of the veal and the venison - and the soup and the asparagus and the apple tart! We had great service from Rene who was attentive. The restaurant was not too loud which is such a pleasure.

A wonderful evening to celebrate a birthday. Impeccable service and food. The seafood (shrimp and scallop) fricassee special was innovative and delicious. The dessert soufflé and coffee were a perfect ending.

I have been attending La Chaumiere for decades, starting in the early 1970s. I loved it then, and it's still as good as ever. Everything is delicious, especially the trout and the fois gras. Although I live in New York City and not in Washington, I go to La Chaumiere as often as possible, and I have introduced it to many other people.
