La Cigale French Bistro Ratings and Reviews
Lovely neighbourhood restaurant for a quiet dinner out. My mussels and fries were delicious and my husband's seafood pasta was equally well done. Meals were nicely presented and wait staff were pleasant and prompt.
Great service, a real gem! Food came out pretty quickly. There were a number of great specials to order from.
As usual, we had great food and service with authenticity and quality! Can’t wait to return.
We came in for a Sunday brunch.
We arrived early and there were only two other tables at the time, service was friendly and attentive. Only 1 guy in the kitchen at the time, and we were told it may take a bit longer to get the food.
Food was delicious when it did arrive, and portion was ample.
We had a fantastic brunch, the service was great and the food was delicious.
Food was great
There were flies in the restaurant & they landed on the food.
The bread was not warm and it was burnt
My friend and I had a very nice meal together at La Cigale. I had Moules Frites and she had tomato soup and onion tarte.
Our food was relatively simple but tasty and filling. The service was friendly and the restaurant has a casual atmosphere. It was a nice place for two friends to catch up over classic food and a glass of wine.
This is a wonderful traditional French bistro with an excellent chef so we never tire of going there. Always superb for a reasonable price given the quality.
Three of us went here for lunch. We shared the Onion Tart which we all fought over after the first bite. We ordered amd shared the burger, the croque monsieur and the la cigale sandwich. The burger was hands down our favorite but the other two sandwiches were both superb. The fries were good but none of us cated for the aioli. Our server was very sweet and efficient. Would come back again and again! Don't miss out.
The one server was not adequate for the approximate 20 patrons, as she also did the bussing, drinks, and payments.
She was very nice and good at her job, but it caused everything to be slow. We would not return.
Excellent food, attentive and friendly service. The filet mignon and bone marrow were great, but we particularly relished the ginger-and-carrot soup. The French waiter (from Montpellier) added more authenticity to a French bistro!
I've been to la Cigale 3-4 times now, for dinner and lunch. Food and service have been consistently excellent. Lunch in particular we have found to be a treat given how quiet and uncrowded the restaurant has been on multiple occasions. Very highly recommended.
Always love La Cigale for great food and attentive service. Their omelettes, among their many great offerings, are superb!
All the dishes were phenomenal and service was spectacular as usual. Compliments to the chef. Beet salad was my favourite.
Our group of 6 had a great brunch, food was most enjoyable and they made a lovely lemon cake for the birthday boy! Both the food and service were outstanding.
Wonderful food and excellent service. Server even highlighted food events the restaurant has on other nights. Recommend this place highly.
Excellent everything. Will bring my buddies for lunch/dinner next time...
Wonderful house-made sorbets. Cassoulet every bit as good as in Paris! Excellent & friendly service. We'll be back.
There was only one server so the service was avatar as she couldn't keep up with all the guests
Loved the place for brunch. Will definitely go again.
Very good service. Great special. Delicious! Now one of our favourite spots to go.
Clearly the chef loves to cook and the waitress loves to make it as hospitable a place as you can find. Full course meal with everything a high note. Merci!
The brunch is a great value. For the same price as brunches at other restaurants you get a well executed meal with generous portions. I liked the omelette, which came with mustard roasted potatoes and even a bit of salad. The baked eggs Florentine were very creamy and served with a generous portion of fries.
Everything was ok but it took a long long time for our food to come out.
The ambiance, service and food were very authentically French in flavour. Our starters were delicious - the chicken livers were intensely flavourful and attractively presented and the cauliflower cheese was just excellent. The main courses (filet mignon, duck confit and beef cheeks were also well presented and full flavoured. The meat in all dishes were well cooked - moist and tender. Good sized portions all round and satisfying in every way.
We had the filet and ling cod. Both were excellent with nice presentation. Street noise is a bit loud at times.
We came here for my mother-in-law's birthday and brought our own cake. To our surprise, they waived the cake fee. The service was very attentive, the food excellent. Great value for your money. Very authentic. You can actually have a conversation at your normal level of voice without having to speak over loud music, which we liked very much.
I would happily come again.
Delicious French food!
Had a fantastic anniversary brunch! The pain perdu was to die for!
I've been to La Cigale twice so far, and anticipate many more visits! While a little pricey, the food is worth it! Keep in mind that the wait time for your food to arrive will probably be slightly longer than you're used to. Nonetheless, great service, lovely ambiance, and authentic French cuisine. A table by their open bay window is the place to be this summer.
Always a pleasure going there!
The restaurant was smokey and the waitress had to leave the door open which made it cold!
The Prix Fixe Menu (available Sunday through Thursday) provided excellent choices, especially this evenings available pasta, Pates aux fruits de mer, the seafood pasta.
Very slow service even though the restaurant was less than 50% occupied
Outstanding cozy Bistro. Delicious homestyle cooking with knowledgeable professional friendly servers.
Celebrated a friend's birthday at this restaurant, we were very happy with the experience. The food was excellent and our server was great. She was very helpful with questions about the menu, and didn't rush us at all, even though we sat chatting for quite a while after our meal. I would definitely recommend this restaurant.
The fixed menu is far too fixed; the ambience is getting on the crowded side; compounded by the absent service, and I can no longer recommend the joint.
Valentines evening with a fixed menu, so very busy, but the food was great. Service was a bit slow to start, but once things calmed down everything was excellent. Will go again!
Good wine small but great menu, good classic authentic French dining
