La Grotta is tucked away in the heart of the Buckhead residential district and overlooks the lush gardens of the condo courtyard in which it is located. La Grotta literally means "the cave" in Italian and was named such for its cavernous and warm setting. The La Grotta staff is also well known and regarded for its vast knowledge of its customers, the food, diverse knowledge of languages (our staff speaks Italian, Spanish, French & German) and attention to detail. The menu specializes in Northern Italian cuisine with seasonal changes to reflect freshness of ingredients with a focus on locally grown produce.
Over rated to say the least. From beginning to end it was an enormous disappointment. The best part of the dinner was the friendly water service with a smile!
La Grotta is my favorite place in Atlanta. The food is delicious and the service is AMAZING, really. Servers go on and beyond to make your experience the best. The wine and dishes they recommended us where top notch.
Also I love how cozy it is. Very romantic.
Excellent as always! One of my long time favorites in Atlanta! Vitello Tonnato , all pastas and veal are excellent!
Wonderful evening with Walter in charge of our table. Birthday event for my wife and as always, la Grotta and staff came through to make her evening out an experience that she always remembers.
Totally unmatched and superb to say the least.
The restaurant is a hidden gem! My wife and I really enjoyed the atmosphere, food and overall experience. We will definitely visit again!
We had a fantastic dinner. The food was delicious and the service couldn’t have been better. The patio is a quiet gem. Thanks to our waiter, Damien, and the La Grotta team for a lovely evening!
I’m from Memphis and I wanted authentic Italian food to celebrate my husband’s graduation. We got that and more! The atmosphere was so warm and inviting. I ate everything on my plate! I would definitely recommend La Grotta to locals that haven’t tried it as well as travelers. It’s a must that you visit this establishment. Well worth it!
We've been here many times over the years. Service is always attentive, never obtrusive. Food is wonderfully prepared and timed as you wish. Also great value overall.
LaGrotta has my most favorite patio dining! You do not know you are in Atlanta. Plus it is the same great food and service from inside the dining room! Can’t wait until next time!
La Grotta is our favorite restaurant in Atlanta. It’s quiet and elegant. The service is always excellent. We shared the snails over creamed spinach...so very good! My wife had the sole meunière and I had capellini with shrimp and pancetta. We topped it off with creme brûlée. Wow!
Everything was first rate. ....................................,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,.............
Outstanding in all aspects... Had Tony as our waiter... Selected a nice full body wine to compliment our dinner ..
Thanks Tony 👍
Our return dinner was incredible. We were celebrating my son's college graduation and my daughter had flown in from CA. Everything was on point- the delicious cocktails, the pasta, veal- everything. I love the truffles! I love the Old World service too- just wonderful. I highly recommend LaGrotta.
Such a charming restaurant. Lovely setting and rare to find fine dining with nice table linens, but still so comfortable and welcoming. Great service and delicious food. Leave room for dessert, I had the warm flourless chocolate cake wit ice cream. Wish I had a piece right now.
Really enjoyed our dinner at LaGrotta. The food and service was outstanding and I can’t wait to
have dinner there again!!
Having eaten a lot of Italian food in Atlanta, I wonder why anyone would chose to do so at La Grotta. I have been in and around Atlanta since 1968 but had never dined at this restaurant before. As La Grotta had been in town for a long time, we decided to try it. The restaurant is one large room and an outside dining area. The crowd was definitely older and louder. There is no ambience. The service was slow. The food was edible but not worth the time nor the price. Would not recommend as Atlanta has many wonderful restaurants. This is not one of them.
Very nice place for special occasions like anniversary. Pricey but food are very authentic Italian.
One of the best Italian venues in the country!
My wife and I went for her birthday and could not have been more pleased. Our reservation was early (5:45) so it was pretty empty when we got there. By the time we left the place was packed. Service and food was top notch. The staff knew everything about the menu and really knew how to sell. They even used a crumb knife on our table, which as we all know is the sign of a classy establishment.
Second time here and it was an amazing experience !!
One of our favorites in Atlanta. They exemplify a culture of honor by all of the staff.
Amazing food, service...everything. First time here and we can't wait to come back.
La Grotta is one of our favorite neighbored haunts. it has been here for over 40 years and although lovely & comfortable, it needs a little facelift. the servers are the best...sweet, helpful, not pushy. the food is very good and consistent. the decaf cappuccino needs improvement. we always enjoy our time at La Grotta.
This was my first visit to LaGrotta and the experience was fantastic.
Except by the waiter that made my party feel unwelcome, it was an excellent experience.
Outstanding Italian cuisine, best I’ve ever had!! Was the type of fine, homemade Italian one would find in Italy. Everything was top shelf...food, service, wine. I’m extremely picky, I might add, about giving out 5 stars. Not many places impress for freshness and quality of food. Not to be missed if you are in Atlanta!!
Could not have had a more perfect meal. The mushroom risotto with truffles was fabulous.
This restaurant which is hidden, hence the cave also know as La Grotta is a truly unique dining experience. I use the word “exceptional” to people when I describe my numerous dining experiences there...especially to my business colleagues and persons that are visiting Atlanta an have never had the pleasure to have dinner at La Grotta. The reviews and comments I have received are raving reviews. Truly a destination location.
The quality of freshness for fruits, vegetables and meats and fish enhances one’s palate for a true Italian restaurant. What I truly enjoy is recommending some signature entree dishes as an appetizer. Especially the Bologneae sauce on a simple pasta. Then watching my guest, treat the dish like he or she was in the comfort of their home, reaching for a piece of the fresh warm Italian bread and sopping the sauce and enjoying the last bit of the marvelous sauce.
Dessert, consists of authentic Italian cakes and gelatos. I usually have a single shot of grand marnier over mixed berries.
Lastly the small and cozy bar has a selection of superb high end single malt scotch , bourbons, champagne, whiskeys and cordials. Most of my guests are impressed with the selection of Italian wines from many regions throughout Italy. What I always am impressed with, is the wide selection of grappa indicates to me the authenticity of a true Italian restaurant. La Grotta has a wide selection of grappa and a price range to match.
Buckhead institution and it was packed at 6:00 on a Friday night. Well dressed crowd. Very proficient servers, although at times huddling and chatting with each other. Traditional menu and great variety and specials. We both had a veal special that was superb. Preparations are quite traditional and not as refined as one might find in the better restaurants in Boston, Chicago or NY. But tasty and would certainly go back.
I usually like this restaurant but this time experience was a mediocreone. My fish was completely tasteless and the burrara salad unimaginative- just a bunch of prosciutto with a microscopic piece of mozzarella and a few sprinkle tomatos. Service wasn't better- the waiter had no clue about the menu and we had to struggle to get someone to come to the table to take our orders. I expect better from a restaurant like this.
Excellent food and service! Everything was prepared just right, at the right pace, and service was impeccable.
Outstanding as always. This place never disappoints. The lamb chops and mushroom risotto were particularly wonderful. The patio is the best place to dine when the weather is right.
Amazing start to finish!
Food and service were fantastic. Not sure why we have waited so long to dine here. Will be going again soon!
Just the best, nothing else to say
My husband and I had been going to La Grotta for years but he passed away in 2017, so my two daughters and I decided to go and have dinner in his favorite restaurant. As always, it never disappoints. The food is wonderful and the service is the best. Since we all live outside of Atlanta, we decided to try to do this at least once a year or more. Looking forward to our next visit.
It’s literally like a Magic experience every time you got to this Atlanta treasure!!!
Service classic wonderful!
Go Go Go!!!
You will not be disappointed.
Wonderful experience! Delicious food!!!
Just an amazing true NYC Italian restaurant in Atlanta.
