La Masseria Restaurant is inspired from ancient fortified farmhouses that in the Puglia Region of Italy are called “Masseria”. Executive Chef/Co-Owner, Pino Coladonato, grew up on a Farm in Puglia. He was forced to eat whatever was available but soon was tired of bean puree and decided to take matters into his own hands, creating new ways to use the same few ingredients. Now, with limitless ingredients to choose from, fava beans, chickpeas and lentils are still a core element in many of his entrees. Interior Designer Libby Langdon has created a warm, inviting dining atmosphere. Rustic and relaxed, with plenty of old world charm. Oversize iron sconces custom made from antique wrought iron gates punctuate the walls, and artful displays of antique farm tools mixed with various authentic Italian photographs all add to the farmhouse appeal. The 250-bottle wine list encompasses all regions of Italy with few of the best American and the rest of the world.

Wanted authentic Italian food after a great Broadway show. I would say the hype was overrated, but the service was top notch! Food was bland and the atmosphere was overcrowded.

Loved our experience yesterday at La Masseria! We had been there before the pandemic hit and enjoyed it, but last night they hit it out of the park. The service was attentive without being obsequious. The food was outstanding. Especially loved the seafood salad app and the buratta. We all had pasta entrees and loved them. Dessert was more basic, creme brulee and gelato, but just fine. All in all, a great dinner after the theater.

Great service from entry to exit. Waiters are all professionals and team players. Cocktail list is interesting, with great wine list. Had the excellent buratta salad and shrimp and pea risotto specials. Linguine con vongole had little necks, not the small Manila clams and was superb.

Long in the tooth restaurant that has not redecorated or invested any money for a long time. The food is very average and a long way from best in class Italian. Not that will stop the office workers from coming to lunch or theatre goers in the evening - the location will ensure that.

We were visiting NY and looking for an above average neighborhood Italian restaurant. La Masseria exceeded our expectations. Terrific service, large delicious servings. My husband and I shared the baked calamari, Masseria salad and an order of veal and mushroom ravioli. It was more than enough! If we had ordered full portions we would never have been able to finish! The cappuccinos and flourless chocolate cake may have been the best we’ve ever had and ended the meal perfectly.

We loved it. We had reservation and were seated promptly. Our waiter was friendly and attentive. Our food was delicious and hot. I had the apple tart for dessert and it was luscious, especially the vanilla ice cream that came with it. We had appetizers, mains, desserts and coffee and we made it our play with time to spare. We will definitely go there again next time we are in the theater district.

My risotto of the day, supposedly their specialty was pretty bad. At first I thought it was out of a carton and while I still think that I do know for sure it was made with a fake thickener like crème of tartar or some other gross gelatinous thickener. I think this restaurant has become a tourist trap by way of a long ago and lost reputation. The waiter was less than decorous: clapping plates together as he cleared ours and other tables with one big stack of plates. All staff very nice but do not imbue their job with any sense of ritual, care, or decorum. The experience was one of the worst I have ever had in a 4-5 star restaurant. More like a school cafeteria despite the nice decor. Service was carried out with the mindset of just a job to get done with zero nod to providing the slightest elevated experience. So while it was less than $100 each (no one drank) you decide if it is value. Bad food, efficient though loud and clumsy service, and very loud restaurant.

La Masseria was wonderful on all fronts. The food is amazing, the ambiance perfect and the service impeccable. Our server Alejandro made the experience so enjoyable. He is informative, pleasant and always there without being intrusive. We can't wait to return and will always ask for his table.

This is our second time at La Masseria. The food is excellent and the menu offers a wide variety; Our server was attentive and explained the specials available that evening. If possible we would dine later as on a Sunday evening it was quite crowded with families.
