Love this restaurant. But on this particular occasion, the food and service did not meet my expectations for the prices they charge.
Absolutely horrible experience. Horrible service. Messed up orders. Just absolutely terrible.
The staff were not friendly...especially the greeter at the door. The room was full and had a nice buzz but I was disappointed in the food and the restaurant looks a bit shabby during the day. Needs a clean up both the surroundings and the staff. Very noisy too.
I ordered the nicoise salad and found it really small for the price. Just 3 pieces of tuna, no anchovies, 3 pieces of cherry tomatoes and little lettuce.
Food left a lot to be desired. Server was very good
We were visiting Toronto and wanted some French bistro food. The restaurant is very pretty and a classic French-style bistro that could have been in Paris by its interior appearance. We sat in the bar area and it was quiet and private. Our server was very nice and helpful. We had cocktails from their special house cocktail menu and they were delicious. I had a drink made with burbon and bitters -- kind of like a sweeter Old Fashioned-- it was the best part of the meal. My wife has a prosecco drink with mint and gin-- very nice. They were only doing weekend brunch and we were disappointed to not be able to order off the main menu. I had a lobster BLT which was $30CD and was really low on the amount of lobster- this was overpriced. We also had a ham cheese grilled sandwich- $17 CD which was fine. The Pom Frites were somewhat soggy and uninspired.
Very good wine selection. Oysters in the lounge were great.
Love the atmosphere! Sadly, prices are going up and portions are going down :-((
- Maître d flippant, insensitive to requests and unaccommodating
- fries cold with both meals
- dessert pastry soft ...we actually had a couple of bites and left
- extremely disappointing
It seemed they didn’t have a record of my Open Table booking which wasn’t so great - not sure if that was an error on the restaurant’s end or on Open Table’s end...servers seemed inexperienced and not very charismatic. The sommelier was the best thing about the evening. Engaging and friendly. At one point we had to get his attention just to order. Restaurant wasn’t busy but wait staff seemed unaware..Food was average. Good steaks but chacceurtie appetizerboard was disappointing. I might go here again for a work/business meal or if I needed something super central.
Unfortunately, the quality of food has gone down by a lot. It used to be my favorite restaurant for ambience, fish and service. However, the so called Grilled Sea Bream was served just barely seared, not grilled and with cold potato chips. This is not the quality of grilled fish dish I expect from a fine dining restaurant. The fruits topping on the fish barely went with it. It was like eating a fruit salad and fish after, mismatch. The fish at least should absorb a part of the topping. But this chef clearly was in a rush to go home. Not to mention the fois gras appetizer was tasteless and barely cooked/warm. The “lava cake chocolate” was not warm either. Come’on if you have such a pretty location why not spend on proper grill, chef or electricity?! Very disappointed :( This is my birthday month and I was looking forward to go to La Societe but not anymore :(((
Acoustics are hard - it was very very loud even though not super full but great food and solid service.
We are long-time fans of LS. Last night’s meal was wonderful and the service outstanding. This is a local gem and great for locals and tourists. The raw bar is wonderful and all the dishes are great. They also have a terrific wine list.
The restaurant is upstairs on street front. Very poorly marked, no signs. Aside from that, the outside dining are is pretty and the inside is very nice. Roomy and airy. The wine list doesn’t have lots of choices but range from reasonable to very expensive. The menu has plenty of choices, ranging from steak to rabbit or duck.
The foie gras was delicious but very small portion. I had the beef bourguignon, which was amazing. My wife had the lamb saddle, lamb sausage and loin. It was also delicious.
We were too full for desert, but the desert menu looked scrumptious
Beef bourginon was absolutely tasteless. Fatty chewy piece of beef. Lamb was overseasoned
Have always enjoyed our experience here! And will continue to come back!
Had a casual dinner with family,
some items on the menu that we ordered felt old, for example French onion soup, had a feeling of it being definitely not fresh, the restaurant took it off our bill, staff is ok..again, felt that some dishes were pre made and possibly been in the fridge. Overall, posh neighbourhood, nice location but wouldn’t come back, for the same money would go to cafe Bouloud with fresh food for sure or ‘the chase’ better value for the same or less money.
My wife and I love this restaurant and have dinner there a few times a month. Beautiful decor, great personal and very good food.
Everything was amazing! Food was perfect, wait time was acceptable, our server was very pleasant. The only bad thing was that the AC was not working and it was quite hot in the restaurant.
Brunch was very good ... My sister ordered the lobster eggs Benedict and thought it was amazing! I had the croque Madame and was very happy with my choice.
Unfriendly host at entry but lovely server at the table. Cocktails and wine selection overpriced in relation to quality but food very good at normal prices.
Our server was so sweet and patient, he was an asset to an already favourite restaurant!
Great waiter loved the service
Nice setting and authentic feeling. Intriguing menu. Completely understaffed! Food was ridiculously slow even for a leisurely brunch and it arrived barely warm. The servers were trying to keep up but there must have been some serious understaffing in the kitchen... and the managers were not doing much more than talking to the hostess. Never once did they come by and apologize for the delay or offer anything to compensate. The food was well seasoned and flavorful but the timing was just poor.
Our waiter was really attentive and helped us with our menu choices.
Our server was lovely and service ok but food was v expensive and not great.. disappointing as previously it had been good.
Ice cream melted and bitty but they not change us for that
Food was good. Service was slow.
We had a wonderful dinner consisting of some delicious shared appetizers (shrimp coctail, muscles and beet salad). Then we had our delicious entrees (delicious sea bass and my husband had a steak). The service was amazing and the place was so beautiful. So much detail was put into this place from the floor design, stained glass windows, the beautiful glass ceiling and lighting. We noticed they had some private dinning areas as well.
Nice menu. Expensive house wines. We asked for a glass of Sauvignon Blanc. Only a Sancerre was available for $22. Too much for a house wine at lunch.
First visit...food was excellent...Cote dAzur cocktail superb...the quiet for a late afternoon lunch (3:00 p.m.) was ideal!
The food was excellent as always and it was great to be on the patio on a lovely summer day. There were two problems: forgetful wait staff and construction noise that became overwhelming at times. We had to ask and remind three people four times to stabilize our considerable wobbly table. We had to get cutlery from another table as there was only one place setting and the waitress had not noticed. Wait staff were prompt at ordering but very scarce after that. We got the sense that they were very impatient. Along with the construction noise, the poor service took away from the experience.
One of my favourites. The trout sandwich for lunch was delicious. Excellent service, attentive, friendly, helpful. I have loved everything I’ve ever ordered there for lunch or dinner. Highly recommend.
Service was slow and somewhat confused. Food was delicious. Ambience is exactly what you’d hope for from a French bistro.
Great brunch! Will be back for sure.
Good for meeting friends and having a casual lunch. Attentive service but not intrusive. Take a patio seat if available and weather mild. Caution however that there is renovation of the spiral staircase leading to patio balcony so noisy at times. Salad with sandwich and Cobb salad very good and properly prepared. Hosts are friendly and ready to assist. Gave overall outstanding because the bench seating and area were comfortable and open for sitting back and enjoying food and friends.
Good fish dish and excellent service
Beautiful venue. Excellent Service. Pricey. Good food
It was disappointed that they didn't serve Summerlicious lunch on Sunday.
