La Societe Ratings and Reviews
A blackout occurred during our meal. Staff handled it very well
We were very disappointed and will not go back because when my companion asked to substitute sliced tomato for the salad which came with her meal she was refused. The reason given was that they had only cherry tomatoes and when she said I could have the cherry tomatoes the waiter said the chef wont do it! Considering they took the time to phone prior to the lunch to ask about allergies and special occasions which is excellent I assume the problem is in the kitchen or with the wait staff.
When our main courses arrived, the frites were stone cold.
The waiter apologized and returned (10 mins. later!) with replacements.
Really not acceptable for a high-end place like this (with prices to match).
No other apologies offered.
On a positive note, I have dined here many times and have had very acceptable service and food.
The raw bar is a must - a charcuterie board that makes your mouth water - Steak frites to brag about - Duck confit that is out of this world - the kitchen was a little backed up but the ambiance lets you forget about the wait real quick and they make it up real fast with how delicious and flavourful the dishes are. I recommend everyone needs to try this place at least once and I guarantee you will be eager to come back again
Food was great and the service was exceptional. The seafood platter was delicious.
Pretty good brunch, more options would be nice. Interior is nice and service was good
The service was quick and efficient, especially when I had my meal right before watching a show. I intend to visit the restaurant again for a more leisurely and relaxed meal. Thank you!
I have been to this restaurant many times and can certainly say that the food is excellent! The staff knows how to take care of you and the food is excellent! I am looking forward to going back again!
Great place! Nice staff! The staffs were friendly and even though I was running late they were able to move my reservation with no hassle!
Love food wine service but really noisy, however going again tonight for third time in three weeks.
Unlike previous visits this one was a bit disappointing. We were given a table next to a large and noisy group, even though in the booking we specified that we want to have a quite table. Upon request we were moved to another table - luckily it was a quite night so this was not a problem. Many clams did not have meat in them, and cold air was blowing on me from the ceiling. The atmosphere was as pleasant as always, as was the nice, friendly, and helpful waiter, and the main course. We'll give it another try.
Best ambiance out of any restaurant I’ve been to in Toronto
The menu was quite lovely and the decor wonderful. However, sitting in the banquet area by the cutlery station was rather noisy. Also, the server was very slow and made 2 errors on our 3 person order. The French food wasn’t prepared in a French style (croque should be with sliced potatoe not wedges) and the mimosas were mostly orange juice. Thankfully my girlfriends and I were entertained by our conversation and enjoyed being together more than the dining experience. Would recommend for the decor and ambiance.
Third visit and progressively worse....cold food...bland quiche..cold coffee..very disappointed...only good thing is atmosphere...food is very amateur at best
Good brunch, but I did not get my Open Table points!
Our brunch was very nice. It was a bit loud for quiet conversation however a warm and friendly atmosphere. Staff were attentive.
Thank you for your service Patrick! The sea bass was good, the wine was great....creme brulee muah! C'est bon!
My experience at La Societe was exemplary. The staff went above and beyond to make a special occasion even more special. The warmth of the restaraunt and everyone in it is incredible. Truly my best dining experience! One of the best interiors in Toronto too.
Just superb- wonderful service by our Parisian waiter- great food.
Went to dinner at La Societe, Saturday October 21, 2017, to celebrate husband's birthday. The food was incredible. Service was impeccable and overall ambiance was outstanding. First time visiting this restaurant and will definitely be returning. The only negative comment that I have was the cost. It was quite over our price range but for a special occasion it's definitely worth the splurge. Highly recommend it and will be returning next time for my birthday!
The food was unsalted and unflavoured(I never add salt to any food!), I had high expectations of this restaurant as I absolutely love Colette and many other French restaurants.
The service: looks like they had less staff than they should. I asked for lemon to be added to my water which was brought to me after the meal was served. I asked for salt (as it was truly unflavoured) and I i was waiting for 5 minutes while my food was getting cold, the waitress went back and forth, looked like she simply forgot.
I did comment that the food is unsalted and the waitress said that that’s how their food is, they don’t add salt to anything. Really? 🤔
Oh! Did I mention that there was a hair in my food? 😩 horrible.
We love this place! very nice and elegant.
The food was very fresh and tasty. The only problem was the parking. I had to go to the green p which was 15 min walk away from the restaurant. Otherwise, everything was excellent!
Very good food
Second time coming here, delicious food, gracious service and timely food - accommodated us needing to sprint off to a performance at Koerner Hall. Appreciated.
They offer brilliant service, food was astonishingly scrumptious! The over experience was utterly pleasing really.
The manager was frazzled and didn’t have our table ready. We had to get his attention to get us seated and he said “how can I help you” instead of greeting us like we were bothering him. Not a great first impression.
The servers were good but not very well trained.
The food was fine, but for the price, not amazing
Always great atmosphere, service and food. A perfect place for a business lunch or just dining with friends.
Usually outstanding service but sad to say last night the service was marginal. The restaurant was not busy and it took twenty minutes to get our drinks. Next our food came one at at a time meaning to say I got my good first then my husband got his next about five minutes later. Food was ok but we ordered a side and came at the end of the meal with no apology. Sad to say I will think twice about going back again I was quite dissatisfied.
Construction in the building was off putting, staff seemed a bit self absorbed
Food was not that memorable for the price.
Great service and fairly good food, but not the best vibe or decor. The QPR is not the greatest, for the money we spent, there are a number of alternatives I would have preferred. Still, great location and Ive had far worse in the nbhd.....not too bad.
Server was very friendly and food was spectacular!
Went La Societe for my birthday. Food was delicious and my daughter enjoyed her blueberry pancakes a lot. Everything went well until we went to the ladies washroom. It was stinky and my whole impression of the restaurant changed. The toilet paper was not in place and the washroom was dirty. The condition of the bathroom was deplorable which could reflect the cleanliness of the kitchen. I will not go back again even though I did enjoy the food. What a disappointment.
Had a lovely evening with my wife on Saturday. The menu and food are exceptional at La Societe. Thank you for a beautiful night spent on your patio. We will return and recommend!
great food but a bit pricey..
kitchen is good service is too but a bit slow..
It was the first time we received congenial and efficient service (by Brendan).. the Nicoise and Cobb salad were DELICIOUS and satisfying
Terrible service (we had 7 ppl serving our table yet it still took 1.5 hours to get appetizers ). Food not worth the value.
Food and service was good. With the door open to the patio there were a few flies and small bugs flying around our table. Not pleasant.
Quinn our server was awesome! Food delicious as always.
I used to love La Societe. Today's dining experience was so disappointing that I doubt I'll return. The service was awful (didn't know basic info about the menu), food was worse (lukewarm, stale), and the management offered too little too late. So sorry to have had this experience.
