I’ve liked it the first time there but my last experience was only deception. It wasn’t worth it. I understand that the were busy but the service was too slow, the oysters was not fresh, Most of the cocktails not good, on 4 courses, my friends and I only liked 2. It was a very bad idea to impose a menu.
Perfect in every way, as usual. Pity "La Societe" is closing its doors.....
We had a Christmas season lunch with old friends and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Good service, intriguing menu, great food and delightful surroundings. We will miss La Societe when it closes.
Really beautiful bar and dining area. Nice staff. The food is very French, which is not my thing, but I enjoyed it. Not many vegan options, but generally everyone liked it. Nice place for a conversation and good food. Highly recommended.
25min after sitting down we finally order our food. Took for ever to get served and we never saw our waiter.. the manager was coming by to order a 2nd round of drinks while waiting... the food was not good, very dry and cold croque monsieur... under cook chicken in my wife’s salad... found a hair in my plate... just terrible food and service.
The service is really good. Only the steak may not meet my appetite.
Great food, great service and I love the ambiance. I had the burger and fries and it was delish. I wanted to go one more time before they close.
What a gem!
It's too bad it's closing, we had a terrific birthday brunch!
Great food, service and ambience. Definitely recommend.
Very upsetting and devastating that this place is closing it’s doors 😭 definitely was my favourite brunch place in Toronto
Great except brunch was cold for both diners but I was too hungry to send it back.
Our server was quite rude and we had to grab his attention every time our drinks were empty. I had made a reservation a month in advanced and we were placed at a tiny table in between 2 couples which wasn’t ideal.
The food was also not that great, I have had better for the price I paid.
I will not be back, and will not be recommending this restaurant to anyone.
I would, but you are closing, so no. I really did love the restaurant, staff, location and the amazing food.
The menu had interesting choices, although the server advised us not to order the mussels as they are out of season. Perhaps therefore, they should not be offered on the menu.
The server had lots of personality and was very efficient and professional while being amusing and friendly!
We are curious to see what the new restaurant will be, after this closes.
Seated at a perfect table in ideal location. Attentive wait-staff. Noise level on high side: Well lubricated Christmas revellers and some hard surfaces combined to dull the ambience some.
High priced wine list...but most everything else offered was reasonably priced.
Manhattans ordered in Bar area before dinner were not Manhattans...no flavour, ton of ice,watery...I think bartender forgot the Vermouth, or didn't know how to make a Manhattan in the first place...cherry was hard to find...however, we complained to waiter and waitress in dining room who eventually obtained a no-charge.
Other than that, a nice evening for the four of us...close to $600 with 20% tip.
The rumour is that this restaurant has been sold and new owners will open next year with a different menu, etc. We regret that news, but may try it again.
Food was great, we had a nice wine with our meal, but the most impressive part was our server, she was fantastic
The stem of my glass was sticky. Unacceptable for the reputation they try to market and standards they advertise.
Waiter was terrible. Either no food and beverage training, new waiter , or just assumed we didn’t have money and didn’t care. We are very subtle. That being said , the waiter serving the table next to us was fantastic which allowed for an even larger contrast in comparison to ours.
Ambiance and atmosphere was great. Service did not match it.
So sorry it is closing. Good food!
Went here for my birthday brunch. Really nice decor with a great bottomless mimosa offering. Well priced for the quality of the food and the fact that it's a place in Yorkville. My first time here but will definitely be back when they reopen in the new year. Thanks for the great pancakes and hospitality, La Societe!
I will miss this lovely spot when it closes!
Two of the 3 of us liked our meal. Our friend had the duck and did not enjoy it. Service was slow. We did not get bread or the larger plates he promised. Very costly. But beautiful decor.
Will not go again.
Was great but they rushed us out for the next reso when there were many tables around us available which I thought was a bit odd.
Great service. Excellent food.
Excellent French onion soup. Mussels were undercooked but they redid them to rectify the problem. Good service. Very good wine list. One of the few places in toronto where you can get a hamburger that’s cooked to order (like medium) rather than well done.
We had an excellent time. Great food, exceptional ambiance, and amazing service. Too bad they are closing soon. I would love to go back.
I always have enjoyed this restaurant over the past nine years.
Terrible service resulted in us leaving before even ordering. Bartender ignored us, gave our seat away, served others that arrived long after us. Completely ridiculous. One less option for fine dining in Toronto
So sad its closing. The Brunch was a favorite!!
Food was served cold. Requested no salt, came with salt
Noise level was TERRIBLE otherwise food and service good.
Christmas get together
Maybe the best French restaurant we've been to in Toronto! Great food and ambiance, very good service. We just discovered it and heard it is closing - that would be a terrible shame! Wish there was a way to keep it open!
Sorry to hear it is closing.
I would recommend La Societe but the first time I went was considerably better than my most recent visit. I ordered the beef bourginion on both occasions. The first time was incredibly delicious. The second time around, not so much. The portions size was very different from the first visit. The first time was an ample serving of beef, however the second time was only one small piece of beef and all mashed potatoes. Due to the small portion of beef the flavour was less than gratifying tasting more like mashed potatoes.
What a wonderful place for an easy lunch. The food is delicious yet be mindful you're eating in a swanky part of Toronto so my salad with chicken was $30. Well worth the price when you're looking for a lovely place to connect with a few of your favourite friends. I would go back!
If you're looking for a cozy place to eat amazing French food, look no further. Service was great also. Definitely recommend it.
Food was a bit uneven. Some things great and some mediocre but with prices that high everything should be perfect.
We were a little pressed for time, but the servers were incredibly accommodating. They kept an eye on the clock, were right on hand to expedite our orders, and kept things running smoothly. The food was wonderful, the ambiance elegant and beautiful, and the already top-notch service was exemplary. Well done and thank you!
