L’Abattoir’s Private Dining Room is a carefully orchestrated yet seemingly effortless affair. The private dining facilities are separate from the main restaurant dining room but the décor is an extension of our celebrated brick and beam style, with sleek, industrial glass and steel accents. Good food overall, but portions are small and a little pricey for what you get. Very accommodating for kids and would highly recommend for a nice dinner out
One on my favourite Vancouver restaurants for a nice meal. I have been coming for years, and the food and service levels have remained high. Tasty, creative dishes. Visually beautiful too.
This restaurant is an example of consistency. Since my first visit when it opened and every visit to Vancouver since, the food has remained as innovative and fresh. From reinvented classics to the newly created, the care in ingredients selection and preparation is evident. The floor staff is exceedingly friendly and effective. Bit noisy, but nothing worse than any other restaurant. The back room, while feeling disconnected, is much quieter.
Second time going. Top notch food and service. Highly recommend. A must go if you are in Vancouver
Great atmosphere. Met couples on both sides of our table which was great and really made the evening. The staff is knowledgeable and the food was superb. Would differently recommend this place.
Excellent all around.
Awesome menu selections and quality. Great selection of cocktails and wines. Very friendly and efficient service. One of the best restaurants in Vancouver.
Food was amazing perfect spot for a double date 💕
Maurya, We're so happy you had a good time on your doube date at L'Abattoir! Thanks for coming. We hope to see you again soon.
I am on a keto diet so the waitress worked with me (and the chef) to find something I could eat. The time she took to do that on a busy Saturday night was impressive. The meal the chef made for me was amazing.
Diana, Thanks for choosing to dine with us at L'Abattoir. We are always happy to accommodate any special dietary requests whenever possible. We're so happy that you enjoyed!
It’s a nice restaurant with lively vibe. It’s great in general, the reason I didn’t give 5 star maybe one of our food is slightly salty
Hi Leo, Thank you for joining us at L'Abattoir. We're happy to hear you enjoyed your visit. We appreciate you taking the time to provide you feedback and have passed it on to our culinary team for consideration.
Food was very disappointing. We had many restaurants to choose from and are sorry we chose this one.

Was there with a group of people, and all were very impressed with the food, the atmosphere and the services. One guest had food restrictions and found the options were very limited. Was an incredible experience that I would definitely recommend to all and when I have the opportunity will plan to return.

Lovely restaurant with a nice vibe. The food was very nice & the staff were nicely attentive but approachable & unpretentious.

Food was amazing and beautifully plated, service was fantastic. Will definitely eat there again.
Andrew, It's great to hear you enjoyed your experience at L'Abattoir! Looking forward to seeing you the next time.
This was our first proper dinner at l’Abbatoir — we’ve previously only been for appies/drinks and during Dine Out — and it did not disappoint!
I’d had the funked up daiquiri before and got it again — would love to make it at home (hint hint). He got the black treacle sour which he said was better than mine when in reality it was a close second.
Already knew the tartare was fantastic so got it again (you know how you sometimes build something up in your head and the next time, it’s a let down? NOT THIS!!) Perfectly seasoned and mixed, with crunchy Brussels sprouts bits on top. Yummo!
We had the scallop special (I’m not a fan of scallops — I know I know — but my husband really enjoyed them).
Another round of drinks.... he had a Meat Hook which has an ardbeg float that he really liked (I hate scotch) and I had the Pinocchio which was tasty but I may have forgotten about it and it got too diluted.
Next was the quail — wow! Incredibly delicious!! I could have eaten the whole dish myself! This is why I forgot my drink.
For the main, we split the steak Diane and loved every bite! That marrow butter is crazy tasty! After 3 appies we we’re on the full side but we noticed they have a crazy long list of amari! I got the China China (loved it so much we headed straight to Legacy to grab a bottle) and he hoped to get the bitterest of the bunch but they were out so he got the second “worst” one, and he quite liked it.
All in all, a fantastic meal! Will be going back, hopefully soon!
Thank you for your gracious feedback! We are so happy to hear that you had such a great experience on your last visit to L'Abattoir. Our team will be in touch with more details on the Funked Up Daiquiri so you can do some experimenting at home! :)
Thank you! We're happy you enjoyed :)
Service was fantastic - comfortable and pleasant! Wine expert was very helpful and friendly. Not pretentious. Perfect balance of casual atmosphere for ‘formal’ dining . Food exceeded our expectations. We will be back again very soon!
We're so happy you enjoyed! Thank you so much for joining us at L'Abattoir. We hope to welcome you back soon.
The restaurant is a beautiful old building and really nice by interieur. The staff is really friendly and food also creative and special. Although the crabcake is not so well presentable on the plate. A little bit of salad or other things would be great. Also with the main dish wich was the glazed duck some bread or small potato was missing. The drinks are good but Prices of wine are too high.
Cedric, Thank you for joining us and for providing feedback from your experience. We value our guests' insights and will always take it into consideration as we continue to progress. We're so happy you enjoyed the food and service. We hope to have the opportunity to host you again soon!
Was a two-top for an anniversary meal. We were seated next to the bathroom, next to a large (loud) party. Server never greeted us, never said hello. Was not brusque but definitely terse. No one really asked how the meal was, nor offered anything approaching five star service.
Would be fine for a fast casual experience, but for the price we paid, was very disappointing.
The food itself was quite uneven. Oysters, arctic char, table bread were all quite good. The lobster tail was good but very small. The starters were very unimpressive.
Thank you for joining us for dinner and for taking the time to provide your feedback. We want all of our guests to leave our restaurant feeling like they've received exceptional food and hospitality. We're sorry this was not your experience. If you would like to discuss in more detail, please feel free to reach out to the restaurant directly so one of our managers can address the concerns from your visit.
Everything was absolutely splendid. Best rosti we've ever eaten and best donuts ever. Maybe the coffeee could be a wee bit stronger...
Gloria, Thank you for joining us for brunch and for sharing your glowing review. We're always happy to make your coffee stronger and will make sure it is the next time you join us :)
Great food and great service
Thanks for joining us at L'Abattoir. We're happy to hear you enjoyed it!
Prepare to savor every bite. My palette got re-educated with real gourmet food. Seriously good.
Coraline, That's wonderful to hear! We're so glad you enjoyed. Thanks for joining us and for taking the time to share your experience.
Exquisite, masterful combinations of spices, fruit and textures. I haven’t experienced this perfection in a while.
Diane, Thanks so much for joining us at L'Abattoir. We're so happy you had such a wonderful time on your visit with us. We hope to see you again soon.
Wow - one of the best dinners we've had! Started with terrine of duck foie gras, baked pacific oysters, and pan-fried veal sweetbreads. They were all delicious and beautifully plated. For mains, we had the steak Diane, the slow cooked halibut, and the honey glazed duck. All the dishes were not only gorgeous to look at but were prepared perfectly. The staff were attentive and very pleasant. Overall, one of the best kitchens in Vancouver! Highly recommend!
Norbury, Thanks for your rave review and recommendation! We're so happy to hear your dinner at L'Abattoir was a memorable one.
Fantastic service, food, and ambiance! No wonder in the top 20 of Canada.
Patrick, We're so glad you enjoyed your visit to L'Abattoir! Thanks for joining us. We hope to welcome you back again soon.
Great food, drinks and service.
We're so glad you enjoyed! Thanks for joining us. We hope to welcome you again soon.
One of our very best dining experiences. Excellent food and very attentive and not fussy service. Excellent in every way. Recommend it highly!
Thank you for your kind words. We appreciate you choosing to dine with us and for your glowing recommendation. We're so happy you enjoyed and we hope to see you again soon!
One of the best meals I've ever had. Definitely the best tartare I've ever had. The brussel sprouts topping on the tartare is so crispy and just makes for a wonderful pairing of flavors and textures. And the honey glazed duck ranks up there in my top 3 duck experiences, and duck is my favorite dish. The lobster was also incredible. Paris brest for dessert - wonderfully light and sweet, perfect way to end the meal. Great cocktails, fantastic starter dishes and excellent service. Couldn't have asked for more!
What a wonderful compliment! Thanks for joining us and for taking the time to provide feedback from your visit to L'Abattoir. We're honoured to be ranked so highly among your dining experiences.
Enjoyed our fish dishes. Though think oysters are best raw not baked as served here.
Staff friendly but a bit too quick to take plates away. Overall we had a pleasant evening.
Thank you for dining with us and for taking the time to provide your feedback. We're glad you had a pleasant evening dining with us and enjoyed your fish dishes. For some raw oysters and a great selection of fresh seafood, you should try our sister restaurant, Coquille Fine Seafood, which is just down the street from us! Thanks again and we hope to welcome you again soon.
Lovely food, wine and service. The complimentary bread basket is yummy!!! (Parmesan and anchovy twists, bacon bread)
A token of our appreciation! Thank you so much for joining us for dinner. We hope to welcome you again soon.
Brunch is fantastic! Could those scones with clotted cream and jam be any more delicious? I don't think so. Next time I'm trying a donut for sure. Everything we've ordered during this and previous brunch visits has been perfect. The atmosphere is very relaxing too thanks to the service team.
Luisa, Thanks for joining us for brunch. We're so happy you enjoyed! The donuts are definitely a must-try (we always have new flavours to try each week :) ) We look forward to welcoming you again soon.
I've never had a bad meal at L'abbatoir. Always amazing. Top Vancouver restaurant. Food is outstanding.
Thank you for your high praise. We're so happy you've consistently had such a great experience at our restaurant. We really appreciate and value your support. Looking forward to hosting you again soon!
I love L'Abattoir... They never disappoint in terms of food quality. This Father's Day we had the duck, steak, lobster, and fish. EVERYTHING tasted great - excellent textures, flavourful sauces, and perfectly cooked meats (especially the duck and steak). Portions are good and I especially love that they have various cute, colourful bites keeping things interesting (mini dumplings, eggplant, squash, gnocchi, etc). Their assorted bread basket is also one of my favourite - savoury bread of multiple textures and types. Food aside, everything else is as expected of a fine dining restaurant - excellent service with never a need to ask for a water refill (that is usually my indicator of how much attention they're able to provide each table). The venue itself is tastefully hip and refined, which fits in well with its prime Gastown location. For the quality of food they're certainly not snobby! In any case I've nothing but good things to say about this restaurant - go try it now!
Thank you so much for choosing to dine at L'Abattoir for your Father's Day celebration! We appreciate you taking the time to share your kind words. We look forward to welcoming you back!
Great service, great food, great atmosphere. Not much else to say!
We came in before a concert for dinner, they had one of my favourite wines- la vieux pin
The wagou beef tartare was great and we shared a 39 day aged dry rub sirloin and it was out of the park! We would definitely go back....
Amanda, Thanks for joining us. We're so glad you enjoyed the wine and food. Le Vieux Pin is also one of our favourites! We look forward to seeing you next time.
Recommend it highly from arrival to departure and great atmosphere but just a little noisy
Anne, Thanks so much for joining us and for the high recommendation. Our atmosphere is quite vibrant-we hope the noise level didn't take away from your experience at all. We hope to welcome you again soon!
We were visiting from Asheville, NC (another foodie city!) and stumbled upon L’Abattoir our last night in Vancouver:) the food was amazing, the service friendly & superb & the atmosphere was quaint & comfortable. Our server Melissa was delightful & entertaining....we were there for 3+ hours & enjoyed every minute! We both had the grilled gem lettuce to start, my husband had the tuna appetizer & I the baked oysters....I then second (repeated) that for my main course & my husband had the Halibut. Desert was phenomenal as well with me enjoying the brûlée & my husband the layered dessert.
We highly recommend this establishment for a dining experience. :)
We're happy you had such a wonderful experience when you dined with us. The oysters are definitely a staple on the menu! Thank you for your recommendation and appreciate you making us a stop on your visit to Vancouver.
Superb food and service. Lived up to its high reputation. Portions were fine: 2 people, 2 starters, 2 mains.
David, Thank you for joining us and for sharing your kind words! We're glad you enjoyed and we hope to welcome you again soon.
When the waitress served the wrong wine can be nice if she apologized!
Excellent! First visit, great experience!
Denis, Thank you for joining us and for taking the time to share your comments. We're so happy to hear you had such a great first experience at L'Abattoir. We hope we have the opportunity to welcome you for many more visits!
