From a friendly greeting to wonderful service and excellent, imaginative quality food, our dining experience at L-Abattoir was perfect. We got the best seat in the house (front corner upstairs overlooking the bar) and the covid barriers and protocols made us comfortable. Our server recommended a good wine that went with our meal. We each had a starter (scallops - delicious!, and sweetbreads on sourdough - pretty tasty) and a main (sable fish and halibut - both excellent, fresh and perfectly prepared). Shared the apple cake for dessert. Perfect degree of delicate sweetness. Thank you for a lovely dinner!
Food was fantastic, service was superb. Great restaurant!
The experience was 1st class start to finish. Our waiter, Edgar, was the best I've encountered in a very long time. Very knowledgeable on wine pairings. As well he seemed to anticipate our needs but not be always "there".
Would recommend this restaurant unreservedly.
Amazing dinner... from the drinks, apps, mains and the service. I hope to be back again soon.
Awesome service, excellent food!
Appetizers we chose weren't our favorite but the main dishes were amazing. It was very hard to hear the servers with their masks on and they spoke quite fast. But other than that, L'Abattoir was just great!
Exceptional dining experience. Great staff, fantastic food and good vibe.
Been here twice, ordered the veal Sweetbreads on both occassions...still so good! This time, ordered the venison, oysters and halibut, everything was spot on!
Andrew was an incredibly knowledgeable sommelier. He made our dining experience fun and educational!
Another great experience, looking forward to our next visit!
Always impeccable. The most unique veggie carpaccio ever
It's been a few years since our last visit to L'Abattoir and were still incredibly pleased with our dinner and service. I think it is one of the top five restaurants in Vancouver. Not to be missed.
Excellent dinner - service and food was outstanding!
Great service and wine selection by Andrew. The food was very good... I’m looking forward to another visit soon.
All dishes we tried were fantastic! Great flavour combinations! Will absolutely go back!
Amazing spot. Always tip notch food and service. Steak diane is my favorite.
The service was amazing, food was good but the portion was too little. We got 2 starters and 2 main dishes for 3 people and we were not that hungry. I’d be interested in the tasting menu like other french/italian restaurants that I like.
Birthday/date thing. Andrew was amazing. Great drink and food recommendations, music was awesome but not too loud. Great personal touch from Andrew.
Food was amazing definetly worth the price and service was great
It was great. We were on the patio and were lucky enough to have live music and space for our daughter to dance.
Food was outstanding as usual.
Excellent food and service. It was a great solo dining experience and would love to return again.
Great food, sadly, the lamb was sold out :( but the steak Diane and Halibut were to perfection ... and the sweetbreads ... simply wonderful
Love this place, incredible food, exceptional service, you’ll always walk away with a happy belly and a big smile on your face. 😊
The upstairs area was quite loud and noisy. The food was amazing, and the service was 5 stars. A place to go eat but not have a conversation.
The food and service were amazing. The only problem was that they sat us in the back of the restaurant which doesn’t have the same ambiance. It’s a bit pricey so you expect the best at all level. We were disappointed with the ambiance. It probably would have been a different story if they would have sat us in the front with all the other customers.
Food was amazing as expected. Service was great, fun atmosphere and can't wait to go back!
Great dining experience, as always! One of my favourite restaurants in Vancouver!
The food here is great. I really like their baked oysters and the steak was decent. We really liked the Meal of the day, the rockfish was made perfectly! The service could be better but overall it's pretty good.
Every time I go to L'Abattoir I'm always struck by how dialed everything is! Whether it's a date night or a small party this place is the perfect spot.
Great food and service! I had the duck breast and the portion was very generous. The pairing of the radish and greens made a delicious combination.
Amazing wine, food and ambiance. Great place for an intimate meal.
Huge thanks to the staff for one of the most wonderful meal experiences we've had. Our group enjoyed practically every dish on the menu, and we wouldn't have changed a thing (except maybe ordered more oysters, if our stomachs allowed!). The sommelier helped us pair each course, and the service from everyone who touched the table was spot on. Can't wait for our next trip back!
An outstanding meal, nicely paced and with great service and wine recommendations. Tasty and innovative as always with Chef Lee.
Nice food. I ordered duck for main course. It is super tender. And the smokeyness is just at the point.
Dined with a friend inside at L’Abattoir this week. Meal was excellent, service was great and I felt very comfortable with the precautions they are taking to manage through Covid - masks for the servers, appropriate table spacing. Restaurant is lovely and the food was very, very good. Enjoyed the scallop appetizer, the tomato appetizer, the Sablefish main and the chocolate torte for dessert. Highly recommend especially for a special evening or date.
The meal was fantastic, and our server was great and provided a great wine suggestion. The bartender or drink specialist ego delivered our after dinner drinks gave us a ton of information on them and we really appreciated it.
Overall a great experience
We had a lovely experience at L'Abattoir! We were given complimentary flutes of bubbly as we were calebrating an anniversary, I thought that was a kind gesture, and elevated our overall expereince. The steak and Halibut were DELICIOUS! I will definetly return again.
Thought we were booked for Dine Out Outside special. Disappointed that wasn’t the case. They would have moved us outside, if they got an opening. We were already seated so chose to stay inside. But felt mislead AND couldn’t get the special menu so spent MUCH more than expected. The food was good but didn’t make me want to go back soon.
Excellent service. Food was delicious and complex. Portion of sable fish disappointing, and would have been better with something besides stuffed tomatoes to accompany it.
Everything was absolutely amazing! The baked oysters and sea scallops for starters were delicious. The poached halibut melted in your mouth. The lamb saddle was cooked to perfection. The Duck was cooked nicely, not dry at all...the only negative was the grilled radicchio was much too bitter. Radicchio in small amounts raw in a salad is much more preferred for my taste. We had 3 desserts plus the 4th which was their feature dessert. Our plates were left clean...that's how delicious they were. Service was attentive and impeccable by all the servers and hosts. Washrooms were very clean and sanitary. Oh and the warm variety of bread they bring you- full of goodness! Highly recommend this restaurant. We were originally wanting to go their sister restaurant Coquille just down the street but it is closed down - but we were so happy with L'Abattoir. And this review is coming from a family of 4 who are foodies!
