Wonderful food as always—had the Gaoler’s tasting menu and pairings. Plexiglass shields and appropriate distances between tables are in place.
Steak Diane was brilliant. Good atmosphere and experience
Good experience, food and selection for wine pairing was excellent.
most courses are perfect except the lamb. lamb with a little bit of smell.
Delicious quality dishes. Appie, entrée and dessert all fantastic.
Our reservation was pushed back 20 minutes later due to minor accident but other than that, staff were accommodating , food was good, great cocktails selection and fairly priced.

My partner and I really enjoyed our first experience at L'Abattoir. We both work in the industry and have been looking forward to this dining experience. Our server and food runners were knowledgeable to help assist with the perfect wine pairings and dishes that blew our expectations! So happy we came when Chef was there which made it extra special. Can't wait to return.
Hi Nicole! Thanks again for joining us the other night, we're super pleased to hear we could exceed your expectations - can't wait to have you back !
We had an amazing Valentines Day dinner and enjoyed the tasting menu. The food and service was top notch and we will be back.
So far the best! Will be back for sure!
Wow! The tandoori sablefish is incredible. Everything was excellent. The service was very good. Never disappointing, but last time it exceeded our expectations. Well done!
We had a lovely dinner for my husband’s birthday. The food was excellent and the service was stellar. It was a special evening of being pampered in the best possible way!
Thank you so much for the positive feedback! We've been working hard to keep our standards high. Glad you and your husband enjoyed yourselves, looking forward to seeing you again soon!
service is good
nice place for couple
but the dark chocolate is too sweet
Enjoyed a night out with my husband. Wonderful evening with great food and knowledgeable staff. Our server Melissa was wonderful. Good luck on your continued wine studies W Set.
Wonderful tasting menu. Great flavors
A favourite place to visit when I'm in Vancouver. We went with two pre-teens and they loved their mocktails and the server was incredibly accommodating to our requests. Great vibe in the room, fantastic music, friendly + personable staff. Food was incredible.
Truly exceptional. We had the tasting menu with the wine pairings and everything was perfect.
Thanks Jesse! Looking forward to seeing again soon. Cheers!
We did the gaoler's menu. It was incredible!!! A splurge but worth it. This is one of the best dining experiences I've ever had.
Wow it was really really good. The duck my dear! Amazing. I also organized a little surprise for my +1 and the staff on site helped me (they kept the gift for 2 days + gave it just at the right time during the diner.) Thank you so much for this night, it was truly amazing!
Congratulations again from team L'Abattoir!!
Amazing ambience, menu and service! We had The Gaoler’s tasting menu with wine pairing this weekend and it was easily among my top 5 dining experiences in Vancouver. 5 stars!!
Excellent service and food, enjoyed the seasonal craft cocktails and how knowledge the staff was.
Thanks for the positive feedback Charlotte! Looking forward to seeing you again soon :) Nick
I would definitely recommend eating at L’Abattoir!!! The food was delicious and it definitely sparked conversation about some of the different flavor combinations going on in the dishes. The service was also on point and professional. The only comment would be the choice of music. Gangster rap would be fine at a lounge or nightclub bit I thought the ambiance and food combination begged for something a little more conservative.
Everything was absolutely amazing and made for such a great date night.
We had a lovely evening at the restaurant. The food was outstanding. The server was very good and I especially loved the dessert! The only thing I would critique is the choice of wine or wine itself. As a second level sommelier, I'm pretty confident it was corked. My husband chose it and I only took a sip after eating and drinking other things. We ended up bringing the bottle home and I tasted it and yeah, definitely corked. It was iltabarro Valpolicella 2016. Too bad since he spent $91 on the bottle. I should have stepped in and taken charge but I didn't want to upset our evening. Otherwise, we enjoyed ourselves very much.
We were late - yikes! But so pleased the restaurant accomodated us with no hassle. Everything was utterly fantastic!
I had been looking forward to this experience for years. As Dine Out Vancouver usually happens on my birthday, I don't get to enjoy nice restaurants and their full menus. With Dine Out postponed this year, I was thrilled to get a table at l'Abattoir.
The first red flag appeared when I called the restaurant the day before my reservation to ask about the menu. As my daughter was looking forward to the Steak Diane, I wanted to know how it was prepared. Would it be flambéed at the table? Would it be Belgian, or Dutch, or Aussie/New York?
So I called and asked if the Steak Diane was flambéed, imagining my daughter's delight as this legendary dish is prepared flaming at our table. The person who answered the phone answered, "It's not flambéed."
So I asked, "What style is it prepared in?" To which this person replied indignantly, "I don't know, it's the same way it has been on our menu for ten years."
Not a good sign.
We arrived the next day for our reservation and decided to start with scallops and oysters. Although neither dish was what we expected - scallops were sashimi style in some kind of lardon sauce with brussel sprout leaves and what my son thankfully determined was not damsel fly larvae, but gnocchi. Sad. Soggy. Gnocchi.
The oysters were butchered and baked. They weren't bad, but they weren't what we wanted. That's on us, not on L'Abattoir, but the execution of said baked oysters was underwhelming nonetheless. I have had plenty of baked oysters and these were nothing special.
At this point in the meal we decided we didn't want to try our luck with the entrées. I can best describe iL'Abattoir as 'nice wedding food', but it's not a serious restaurant. At least not anymore. It's more of a tourist trap than innovative haute cuisine.
Special mention to the BC wine Ava. That was excellent.
Innovative balanced gastronomy
Chef a maestro with flavours
Our meal was perfect. Staff were fantastic. Can’t wait to go back.
All the staff was friendly. Our server was very knowledgeable and gave us an excellent wine recommendation. The food was exceptional. It was also very rich, a little goes a long way. The space is very urban but the lighting warms it up nicely. Sound travels upstairs from the bar quite a bit. The music was also a bit odd and often sounded like a tv was on instead.
Very good environment, good service, steak is wonderful, fish is just ok, noise is moderate not so quiet as I thought, foe the food value, food price is quite expensive especially for the scallop appetizer and fish. It is recommend for only special occasions not for everyday dinner.
L’Abattoir consistently provides great food, friendly and excellent service and good value for dinner... always a real pleasure to go there for dinner!! Mike and Joanne
Great experience at L'abattoir. Never disappoints. If I had to say one thing it would be the music. Music that is background not foreground and is a little loud would be preferred.
The drinks were amazing, our server was charismatic, and the food was impeccable as always. 100% recommend the oysters to start!
The food and service were outstanding. Will be back.
Wonderful experience. Thoroughly enjoyed every bite. The staff were very knowledgeable. We will be back.
As always, delicious food, knowledgeable and fun staff, and wine pairings on point.
Fantastic- as always! Looking forward to our next visit.
An amazing meal, great service, always a treat. Highly recommend.
The service was excellent and she went above and beyond. The food was excellent and presentation was beautiful
Thoughtful and tasty food, excellent service as always. L'abattoir never disappoints.
Great service and ambience. The food was amazing and drinks very unique and delicious.
