Lakeside Dining Room - Hotel Eldorado
An evening spent in the Hotel Eldorado's award-winning Lakeside Dining Room will be an evening to remember. The Eldorado strives to take advantage of the Okanagan's bounty of seasonal and organic products provided by local suppliers. Boasting fantastically prepared AAA Angus beef selections, fabulous chops, great seafood and an award-winning wine list featuring over 150 different labels - Nothing beats dining lakeside at "The El."
Poor service, music too loud, had to ask for wine list and soup spoon, appetizer came way too fast, entree was tasteless...disappointed
We have been in Kelowna for 20 years and have eaten at The Eldorado numerous times and have always been happy with the food and the dinning experience. We will continue to dine at the Eldorado.
Nice restaurant with good service. Both entries left a little to be desired. We ordered different proteins that came on the exact same boring seasonal veg, disappointing.
Excellent service, excellent view and delicious food
The food was wonderful!
From appetizer to main to dessert - just all very savoury.
This was Super Bowl Sunday and still great care was taken in food preparation!
All guests were seated near one another so a bit distracting with everyone’s conversations.
A beautiful venue - pricey - but a lovely dinner out.
We enjoyed a fabulous meal and were served professionaly by Vince, who has been working at this restaurant for 25 years. The Ling Cod was excellent and the Duck was tasty. I love the location and ambience of the Eldorado and it was particularly cosy on a cold and snowy January evening.
The meal was delicious, but the service from Patrick and Ryan made it especially enjoyable!
We went for New years eve. The menu was miniscule, there were no vegetarian options listed, however the one option they did carry was 1/2 the size of their regualr vegan option but twice the price. The cost of the dinner wasn't disclosed anywhere, nor was the fact that they had a special "terrible value" menu for the evening. If you're going to pay $200 for dinner you'd hope you leave full. This is the third time I've eaten at the lakeside restaurant and will likely be the last, each time I've eaten there it's been less impressive.
Company in town for Xmas
We had a lovely evening. The food was delicious. I just would have thought there would have been a little more ambiance for the Season.
Going to The El is terrific. Our server, Vince, is a true professional who always enhances our experience. The ambiance is right up there with the best spots in the globe. The salmon crab cakes were an exceptional appetizer. Well done Vince and El⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Omg you guys! Food was amazing. Lamb chops were to dies for! Beautiful ambience!
Although we’ve always enjoyed brunch at the Eldorado, our visit on December 1 left us thoroughly unimpressed. The food was excellent as usual, however, the service left a bad taste in our mouths. We wondered why it was necessary for two servers to share our table. One would ask us a question and the second would come by minutes later to ask the same thing. The second server made us feel rushed from the moment we sat down. While I was getting my 5 month old daughter out of her coat and into a high chair, the server hovered at our table and unnecessarily explained multiple times that we could get our plates and reminded us that brunch ended at 1 pm (it was only noon). She continued to come back to our table wanting to clear our plates before we had finished eating and again to say brunch ended at 1 pm. When a third person, presumably a manager, came to our table inquiring about taking our plates, I had to ask him if there was a problem with us. No other tables were being pestered to the extent that ours was. My mother had just arrived in town and we couldn’t even catch up without constant interruption. Checking on a table is one thing, but to make your guests feel unwelcome and hurrying them out is quite another, especially for what is being charged. Visiting the Eldorado has always been more to us than just the food. It’s about the atmosphere, the ambience, the overall experience and unfortunately this was ruined by this server.
Started with the mussels-they were superb-and accompanying them with fries and a garlic aioli should be criminal. Can not resist a good French fry! We all had the petit filet and two of us shared the lobster tail accompaniment. The steak was perfect as was the lobster. We finished off with liquid dessert in the form of speciality coffees. The meal was lovely and the Eldorado is a wonderful place to come for a great meal and gorgeous scenery. On this evening we were seated beside a table of four men and they were really quite loud. There were a total of three tables occupied in the dining room on this particular evening although the lounge was quite full. I mention this because the food was S L O W
coming out. Mussels were quite quick but we waited on the main course for at least 50 minutes. Kind of throws their 2 hour time window for a table of 4 or less out the window!
Service was excellent but for the price the food was okay. I think the prices are a little high for the quality.
Loved the fact that we were able to be served in French by Sophie.
Birthday dinner. Excellent service
Beautiful spot but food is way over priced for what you get. Definitely plan on a $250 - $300 bill for 2.
First anniversary dinner. Great food and service
Wonderful venue for lunch or dinner. Beautiful views and good service. Our table had fish, steak, scallops, prawns and lobster. All was very good. Good wine list as well
Great variety of top quality dishes. All staff made the morning very pleasant.
Dinner was excellent with an very nice ambiance. Service was attentive.
Good menu selections and amazing wine list although expensive.
Vince made it a great meal as always
Excellent service, great food. Definitely will go back.
One of the food contained Aluminum Foil tips. Restaurant remade the same food with bigger volume, but it was a little disappointed since food and wine is not so cheap.
Started our night in the lounge service was some of the worst we have experienced in the food industry.Would eat in the dining room again service was great
Beautiful view. Wonderful food!
Holiday date dinner with my wife
Ordered an allergy meal and when it came there were clearly items on it that were allergy sensitive. Luckily one member of our party noticed this and had to confirm. Once server double checked it was definitely an allergy item. Could have been very serious. This type of situation once identified to server needs to be very carefully checked as you are playing with someones life.
NY Steak took long to serve and was tough; I had to send it back. The second time was just ok; nothing special. Server spilled the champagne cooler container on me. Good thing there was only the water left inside and no wine/champagne inside. I’ve been in this place before and it was great; maybe it was just bad luck for me that night.
Quinn was a wonderful server and was very attentive without being too much in our way. We were meeting friends we had not seen for a long time and wanted to catch up. Quinn totally understood what was happening, and would casually catch my eye for a hint as to if we needed him.
Over all a wonderful experience!
Had some difficulty in getting a seat on the Boardwalk as we were sowed a table inside first, not even asked when it was a beautiful night and there were many open table on the Boardwalk.
Would have like to know there was complimentary parking before we paid for such-the sign is way too small to be noticed easily.
Food was good but not outstanding . Appetizers are small and they should be larger so shareable at those prices.
Crab cake was somewhat dry, menu didn't say what species of salmon they were serving- described as' ocean wise' salmon which we found out is code for farmed, too many potatoes and not enough variety of other vegetables with the salmon entre.
Waiter was fine.
Pricing is very high and doubt you would survive with those prices without the location.
View and ambience was outstanding.
We'll be back on a nice evening when you can sit outside and enjoy the lake, otherwise not so likely.
I had some digestion issues after the meal. I didn't have so bad food for several years.
Went for dinner at the Hotel Eldorado and went into the lounge for a pre-dinner drink. Other patrons in the lounge had a great four letter vocabulary and made the experience uncomfortable. Not sure why a hotel of this calibre would allow that, but it was disturbing other guests.
The dining room has large doors that open to the outside and has a great view of Okanagan Lake but the day we were there a wind was blowing directly into the dining room and bordered on uncomfortable.
Our server was great, the food good and the value a little overpriced for the atmosphere.
All in all an average dining experience.
Gorgeous location. Service was great as was food. The hotel re-design is fantastic!
We have been to the Eldorado restaurant on several occasions and this experience was quite disappointing. We know the portions are small, especially the appetizers, from our pervious visits, but the food was very good, so no complaints. This time however, the crab cake was quite dry, the pork belly portion of the scallop appetizer was dry and over cooked and the salmon was very dry and over cooked. The quality of the meal certainly didn’t match the price the were asking on this occasion.
Amazing view, great food and price. Will be back next time I'm in Kelowna!
Vincent our server was great! 5plus for his service. Steak dinner was ok. Not worth the money for size and taste. Drinks were good
Having had an excellent experience a week ago at this restaurant, I returned with my sister as my guest. We were told we needed to sit in the formal dining area versus the boardwalk seating due to some recent rain. We were simply looking to enjoy a salad with salmon which I spoke highly of to my sister and was the reason we were returning.
We were given the formal menu to choose from, and although we asked several questions of our waiter we were not told that there were actually two different menus.
I was very disappointed with the value of the meal vs the price. It was completely different then my experience only a week before.
It wasn’t long before people were being seated along the boardwalk (which is were we had asked to sit). I soon noticed that people were getting very difficult meal options then we had. Portions we better as were the items. We hadn’t come for a formal meal and had only wanted a lovely salad with salmon. What we got was a much smaller starter/appetizer salad and the salmon was very different - not at all what I had expected. I was very disappointed with the whole experience; I had spoken so highly of my previous experience to my sister and we were both shocked that there was such a difference in where you sat and what was offered. I’m not certain I’ll return any time soon.
