The Independent is an ingredient-driven, seafood restaurant and raw bar showcasing the Lowcountry's surrounding local fisherman, farmers, and purveyors. Located on historic Front Street, the restaurant pays homage to the community's former, yet iconic seafood market by the same name, with a seasonal menu of Southern-inspired dishes guided by the region's bounty of fresh seafood.

For more than 30 years, Gulfstream Cafe has been a sought-after spot for birthdays, anniversaries and more thanks to the picturesque waterfront view and authentic coastal cuisine. The laid-back atmosphere at this Garden City institution complements the fresh seafood and southern favorites, choice options include broiled Lobster Tail, creamy She Crab Soup and jumbo lump Crab Cakes. Head back for their seasonal Oyster Roasts or watch the sunset on the rooftop deck, all wildly popular (and Instagram-worthy). *Please note: Guests are permitted to park in any open space on our shared lot.

The original Hot and Hot Fish Club was founded in the late 1700’s by the planters of All Saints Parish. The social club was dedicated to epicurean pursuits; gourmet food, strong drinks and festive times. The first club was said to be on Drunken Jack Island, located just a few miles south from here. Members of the original club described their past time spent on the island as the “happiest hours of their lives.” The Club was dismantled and finally laid to rest after the Civil War. An ever shifting sand bar off the coast of Huntington Beach State Park is all that remains of the original site. The Hot Fish Club today is located in the oldest existing restaurant building on the Grand Strand. Hot Fish Club remains a favorite gathering place today for discriminating locals and is open to everyone seeking Great Food, Great Drink, and Lively Conversation, in the spirit of those earlier revelers. We pride ourselves on our personal service and our desire to satisfy each guest.

Tavern & Table is the dream child of Cecil & Dianne Crowley, Andy Palmer & Jeff Condon. After years of working together on various successful restaurant concepts, they wanted to bring together the very best aspects of fine dining and casual hospitality in a beautiful and comfortable setting. Tavern & Table is more than a restaurant, it was created to be a gathering place where people sit in comfort and share small plates for the table or enjoy a hearty meal. The bartenders know the fine art of cocktail making and their interest in flavor and presentation comes alive in not only in the food but in barrel aged cocktails that are created in-house.

This waterfront locale is historically known as the launching site of our country's first submarine, the H.L. Hunley. Poised at the breach between the Intracoastal Waterway and the Atlantic, you can enjoy a meal amongst the spectacular sunset views and balmy ocean breezes of the Isle of Palms. Come early and have a cocktail at the Rooftop Bar while enjoying amazing views before dining.

“Good Food and Bad Advice.” Such is the motto for this one-of-a-kind restaurant that’s in the planning stages as we go to press. Located beside Hot Fish Club on the southern end of Murrells Inlet, it’s owned and operated by the HFC family – but it’s a totally different experience. The menu is quirky, to say the least, with a focus on affordability – most items run between $4 and $12 – and fresh, locally sourced meats, seafood and produce whenever possible. The team is still working out the particulars, but the choices are definitely different and change frequently to keep things interesting. Take time to explore and expect the unexpected from a restaurant where one of the items offered is described as “kinda weird, but tasty.” Lowcountry looks forward to this new venture from our friends at the Hot Fish Club. With a broad menu, pub-inspired atmosphere and an awesome atmosphere, the IPC is shaping up to be a mighty fun place to hang.

My wife and I enjoyed a date night at The Independent. I had the she crab soup and the blackened flounder. My wife had the scallops and we had key lime pie for dessert. The food was excellent... definitely on par with high end Charleston restaurants. The she crab soup had the most lump crab meat I've ever seen in that dish. It was amazing. I would highly recommend the Independent.

We come every year we’re here at the beach and it never disappoints! We had the bolognese and the dry aged steak special. It was incredible! There’s always something new on the menu. And they have the biggest and best wine, liquor, and drinks list! One of our favorite places to visit! Can’t wait to come back!

Hot Fish Club is by far the best restaurant in all of Murrells Inlet. The food is delicious each time. They are also one of the few restaurants that take reservations, this is so helpful when dining with children, to not have a long wait in the high season. We all had different entrees which we all enjoyed. Bar was also excellent.

I ordered the red snapper whole fish and it was excellent. The waiter/server was so friendly and knowledgeable about the menu. We also ordered oysters Rockefeller as an appetizer and they were wonderful. The fresh-baked sourdough from Benjamin's bakery was some of the best bread I've had. Fantastic! We are out of towners but come to Surfside/garden City often for vacation. We will definitely be back!
