Comfort Food | Ossington,

"Had my little birthday dinner get together here and it was perfect. Not too noisy, was able to really have a conversation with everyone. The food was alright, maybe I was too drunk, but the food wasn't as hot as I believe it should be. I had the steak but it was also a bit burnt on the outside and it came with fries and a salad. It tasted great actually, despite the temperature and the burnt taste of the steak, but the inside was good! But the beans and the pulled pork that my boyfriend had wasn't so great to me, the pulled pork and the beans was sweet; I think at least one or the other should have been more savoury/salty or spicy to balance the taste. ALSO, the mozarella sticks are a MUST. So good. Overall it was good! The drinks were great for sure! I'd say the highlight of the night was our server Jeffrey. Amazing guy, very conversational, especially if you want to know a lot about music. He definitely set the vibe. Overall a great experience."See more

Italian | Little Portugal / Dundas West,

"I would post photos but there is no evidence, we couldn't stop eating once we started! The burrata appetizer was outstanding. Next time I will just ask them to double it and eat it as my main. The pickled veg was equality delicious (but doubling that would be a bit much). Their bread is also such a beautiful treat. The cocktails were lovely as well; I had the Lady Grey and it was perfect. The best part was that it was kid friendly, which helps. Overall I would recommend this place. This was my third visit made up for my second visit, which was lack luster. The staff was helpful and accommodating and the washrooms were clean (this means a lot)."See more

"Server didn’t introduce himself and was not engaging in asking if anything was needed. I honestly thought he was clearing tables not a server. Had to grab his attention for drinks and food. “I thought you guys just wanted drinks” was his response when I asked for a starter after a pitcher was ordered but he never asked so to assume something is poor service on his part. Music in the front of the restaurant/bar was too loud to have a conversation without borderline shouting but makes for good eavesdropping lol. I enjoy loud music but was hard to hear my partner and as we left around 10:20 the DJ began shouting over the music like DJ Clue. Second time at La Carnita but first at the college location (John St first time). Food was delicious and consistent with the John location and arrived quickly. Taco/tostada were all very tasty especially the Tuna and Cod."See more
