Of course, just being in Le Chateau Frontenac is wonderful. The decor of Bistro le SAM is beautiful as is the views of the river. But the food is the true star - inventive, beautifully presented, fresh and delicious. The service, from the maitre d’ to the wait staff and bus boys, was highly professional and attentive. My husband was a chef for 30 years in NYC and he was so impressed with Bistro le SAM. Bravo to the chef and staff of this lovely restaurant?

This is a classic, timeless fine dining restaurant. Waitstaff all wore a black, white or red jacket depending on their rank. Service was amazing. Silverware was changed with each course. They specialize in well executed classic dishes, many of which are flambéed tableside. We ordered a Parmesan croquette appetizer, and beef bourguignon for two (flambéed by our chef Allen at our table) with a mushroom gravy made from the juices in the flambée. For dessert, we had crepes Suzette also flambéed. It was all so good that we went back the next night and we requested the same chef. This time we ordered the same appetizer and shrimp flambéed in whiskey which was a dinner for one but one that we shared. We ordered an extra vegetable, but the portion was so large that we didn’t need to. For dessert we ordered the baked Alaska. The price was really reasonable when you convert to Canadian dollars. The restaurant is located in the upper part of the old town area, close to the entrance to the chateau Frontenac, so it’s easy to find.

Excellent. We were greeted and given a short orientation of the Restaurant, then shown to our river view table. Our server Jonathan provided outstanding service and advice on meal selection. It was a most memorable evening.

Great food, great atmosphere, service was very slow

A fabulous experience from start to finish. Superb service and delicious innovative cuisine. Definitely worth the trip.
