"Have wanted to try for awhile now and so glad we did. Our server Emily was great and new exactly to be at the table and when not to be. Had the mac'n cheese, which was excellent. My only comment is that perhaps the bread crumbs could be combined with a bit of butter when put on top and then browned in the oven. They were just sort of put there in a pile...but the dish was excellent. We also had the lamb tacos and the fish tacos...we would eat both again. Loved the music...classic rock and just the right noise level! We will be back!"See more

"We were there to celebrate 2 birthdays. Our server (Leslie) was amazing. She went above and beyond and it was truly appreciated. The manager gave us a free appetizer even though we had not received our email after joining their "club". They also honoured the birthday dessert email that we had. I loved the ambiance and the environment was friendly and very social. I would definitely go back. It was actually one of the best Kelsey's restaurants that we have been to."See more

"Overall, it was a good experience. We decided on the date night meal and it was priced okay except if you get the steak (they charge extra for that). Our server was very pleasant, polite, and made a point to ask how things were with each course."See more

"We found Manhattan to be just the place we were looking for. We were asked to vacate the table after 2 hrs as they have reservations per table 3 times during the night. We thought we could stay for the Jazz Band after dinner though were informed differently, it was all good as it was I first time there, we talked to the owner and he gave us some suggestions for next times visit."See more

"Food was excellent, the only comment I would add is to go easy on the chillies, they are supposed to enhance/ compliment the other flavours and not overpower them. My wife had the fried Brussels Sprouts appetizer but the red chillies just killed them."See more

"Always a favourite place for me to attend. In the early 1900's my father, as a young boy, hassled the miller to the point where the miller picked up my father, grabbed him by the heels, and held him upside down over the mill grinding stone that was grinding the grain into flour. My father told this story dozens of times as the years passed and I grew up. Great memory. Jack McGurn, 905-828-4697; jandj01@bell.net"See more

"I was in Guelph for a training event and wanted to make sure I was experiencing the best of the local scene. I found The Book Shelf on Trip Advisor, and it seemed like a good way to support a unique, locally owned business. I didn't realize that the eBar and the actual book store and on different floors, and not even really related (in terms of your experience) unless you go downstairs to browse the store before you eat. I didn't have time for that, since I made a 7:30 reservation and the show started at 8:30. Also, being a Tuesday in the summer, it was fairly empty. That being said, when all of the students come back to town in September, I am sure that place is always buzzing. The bartender/server was a very nice young man who made me feel less awkward about being by myself, and was good with beer recommendations. The atmosphere was cool, with a stage at the front, long bar/seating area, a pool table, and then a small patio outside, overlooking the larger patio of Mijiidaa (the restaurant downstairs, beside the entrance for The Book Shelf). Because of that, I enjoyed some (probably creepy?) people watching, lol. There is also another dining area inside, before the entrance to the movie theatre. I'm not sure if this part counts as my experience at "eBar" but the movie theatre was very cute and brought me back to the days before huge Cineplexes. The crowd was very mixed, and even though the restaurant was quiet, the theatre was filled. That was okay because you can order your movie ticket and reserve your seat when you're eating at eBar - so I got to go set my reservation card in the seat I wanted before people started filing in. All in all a great experience I am glad to have had during my time in Guelph."See more
