Havana has been committed to serving local and organic meats, produce and seafood since it opened 25 years ago. All of our meats are “naturally raised” meaning no steroids, antibiotics or hormones and “humanely raised” meaning room to roam, proper shelter and gentle handling. We make every effort to buy only sustainably harvested seafood, primarily from the Gulf of Maine. We have consistently searched out New England farmers and fisherfolk to purchase product that is not only great tasting but great for the environment and local economy as well.

This was our first time in a long time of going to this restaurant. We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food and the service. The menu is very different from what it was before and took some getting used to. The pizza-like entree was a little overlooked, but still good.

The food was superb, and our party included a vegetarian who had the fried tofu, one person who had the ribs and slaw, 2 who ate the halibut and one who chose the Franny’s salad as his entree. Everyone in the party raved about his/her dish. In addition, the paneed goat cheese with strawberry on greens and the order of fries were out of this world! Those of us trying to cut down on alcohol consumption were really impressed with the N/A choices — very tasty tart cherry juice cocktail and a choice of N/A beers. Service was very attentive. Not inexpensive, but excellent value. A lovely evening!

Do your homework before you go. Understand that this place will be very busy. Try to plan for the experience with advanced reservations. Otherwise you’re in for the frustrations of no place to park and very likely a two hour wait to be seated. We biked to the restaurant do had no trouble with parking. But the parking lot was full at noon in early June. We had reservations at noon for two tables of four (for whatever reason I was unable to just book a table for eight). Without much of a wait time they were ready for us. They kindly put our tables together, as I requested on my reservations. At noon, those without reservations had a 1.5-2 wait time. We noted several empty tables that did remain empty throughout our meal. We concluded that they must not have been fully staffed for the summer season yet. But to us it seemed sad to have empty tables with so many waiting. Honestly, I booked The Jordan Pond House because of the popover hype. I was expecting the food be just okay at best. This was not the case. Everyone in our party ordered a different lunch. All was fresh and beautiful on the plate. There were no complaints about the meals. Everything was flavorful with generous shareable portions. We were seat outside. We were extremely lucky with the weather and the table. We had the table at the pond side with no obstructed views. The seating was better than could be imagined. The servers were kind and helpful. And yes the popovers lived up to the hype.

The salad was amazing and very large with an excellent orange vinaigrette. The salmon was cooked exactly right and the portion was generous. The service was excellent and friendly. The staff were very accommodating and the chef came around to each table to thank guests for coming. The complimentary dessert was lovely (two kinds of flan). We appreciate the early dining.

We arrived on Saturday evening and initially seated in bar area which was kinda loud. Server moved us to quieter part of restaurant. Our swrver--and in fact all the staff--could not have been more pleasant and welcoming. Food was great. The chips with the fish and chips very much out of the ordinary. The chowder was delightfully thick and beautifully seasoned (celery really added to its flavor). Tasty meals, wonderful service, an overall great experience.
