Originally from Mexico City, Chef Fernando Olea, formerly Chef of Epazote, has been enthralling diners in Santa Fe since 1991. Chef Olea creates sophisticated flavors using Old Mexico’s indigenous and culinary traditions alongside ingredients from around the world. His menu is deliberately small, featuring fresh and locally sourced produce and meats when possible.Nothing evokes the mystery of Mexican cuisine more than mole, a sauce of complex flavors that usually includes toasted and ground spices, seeds, nuts, chocolate and chile. Many mole recipes contain more than thirty ingredients and some recipes have five varieties of chile alone. Chef Olea is delighted to share his moles that include his "New Mexican Mole" that he created to commemorate Santa Fe’s 400 year anniversary in 2009. The large mural in the main dining room, was painted and presented to Chef Olea by Federico Leon De La Vega, a well- known artist from Mexico City.

Staff at Santacfe did everything possible to see that our hours of 6 were comfortable at our patio table. One seat was in the sun so they brought an extra umbrella for shade. We wanted to have a conversation with our friends and they turned the speaker down low so we could hear one another. As is usual with a group paying different amounts the server did everything she could to divide the payment among a couple of cards and a bunch of cash. Her advice about what to order for lunch was spot on when I was trying to decide between a tuna melt and dumplings. Another in our party ordered the sandwich which she liked but could only eat half of. The dumplings had a delicious sesame sauce and were just enough for a lighter lunch. They make their own lemonade and have pretty decent espresso. This is one of my favorite places on Santa Fe.

Truly one of the best dining experiences of our lives. We’ve been to Geronimo numerous times and it just seems to get better and better. Our server, Jay, was absolutely superb- he suggested wines, knew the menu inside and out and was the perfect mix of attentive while giving us our privacy. We arrived an hour early , expecting to wait in the bar area, but they immediately prepared our table and sat us. The place was packed, as usual, but the vibe is always serene and lovely. Never loud music - just tasteful. The food: Geronimo takes familiar ingredients and elevates them beyond all expectations . I got the Lobster tails and the tuna appetizer and they were both delicious and beautiful to look at. My wife ordered the green miso sea bass and was eyes rolling back ecstatic. Our dining companions were equally impressed. The desert / lemon crepe was so light yet substantial. Oh man this place is great! For a special occasion or just for a great night out- Geronimo is a winner. I would never come to Santa Fe and not go to Geronimo- it’s the best this city has to offer- and this city offers a lot.

Have dined here on multiple occasions. Consistently good, reliable and consistent food. Had a great meal, and were lucky that they had just started offering the seared peppers which were amazing (with the garlic pieces). Fried shrimp was terrific, and the artichokes with goat cheese as well. Strongly recommend. Staff (Lizette and Matteo) were terrific. Definitely recommended.

Wonderful classic Santa Fe restaurant with outstanding food and service. Great fusion of New Mexico tastes with gourmet dining. My partner's mussels for a unique appetizer mixed as they were with posole; my elk tenderloin main dish was superb. My only suggestion would be a lighter dessert -- a sorbet or something like that. The desserts on offer looked great, but we'd had too much. However our server brought us lovely little nibbly to round off the meal. Excellent wine list.
