"Hen Quarter in Silver Spring has excellent food! We started with the crab hush puppies. They were delicious! Another person at our table ordered the fried green tomatoes. The presentation and taste was outstanding. My main entree was the Maryland Crab Cakes. Initially I wasn't sure what to expect. The waiter assured me that they were mostly crab meat and he was right! They were broiled golden brown and delicious! To my surprise the string beans were even delicious. They were not hard and they were well seasoned. Others at my table ordered the fried chicken, the shrimp grits, and the sampler. All were impressed with the delicious meal in addition to the portion size. Hen Quarter is a welcome addition to Silver Spring. It is a hidden gem that folks haven't tried or discovered. I highly recommend this restaurant!! Ben our server did a great job juggling all our orders!"See more

"We were coming in for our first experience here with VERY HIGH expectations-- and left completely satisfied. You'd be hard pressed to find a better steak anywhere-- and a Manhattan and their house drink "Peaty the Butcher" were perfect matches for our meal. Just a great experience. We'll definitely be coming back."See more

Buena Vida14. Buena Vida2.32 mi

Mexican | Silver Spring,

"I ate at Buena Vida for the second time and was as pleased with everything as I was with a dinner a few weeks prior. We chose the "all you can eat" option--forget what they call it but a much more refined description that is appropriate given the quality of the servings. The guacamole, plaintains, chorizo, flautas, salad, and queso fundido were all fresh and flavorful. The service was attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant was not crowded, thus quiet, but I know form the past meal and in many at the pior "Kitchen Bar" that with even more people it easy to carry on a conversation at this venue. In our case, with a window seat on a sunny day, it was as peaceful and calm as we might have wished. We were surprised with a delicious drink, compliments of the bartender, at the end of the meal. All in all a wonderful business lunch."See more

"I have mixed feelings about the food that we ordered. Two out of the three of us had great meals. Unfortunately, my meal was a dud. I wanted the Fried Buttermilk Chicken but they were out of it on this particular evening so instead I ordered French Onion Soup and a Caesar Salad. The soup did not have the rich, beef broth but instead only tasted like oregano/basil. The Caesar Salad was huge however the dressing was kind of funky and not your traditional dressing. On the other hand, the rack of ribs (wish you could order 1/2) and the sirloin steak were delicious. The service was great and the atmosphere was very nice. We will probably go back again just so I can try the fried chicken!"See more

"I visited The Daily Dish for brunch on a recent Sunday, and I was surprised at how delicious the food was. The restaurant is located in a shopping center (ample parking always nice), and I thought it would just be okay. The food was surprisingly great, the coffee was delicious and the place was packed. I had no idea this little gem of a place was so good; so good that I returned later in the week for dinner. The daily specials are inventive, yet you can always choose from your favorites of pizza and burgers. Great for families. And the bar area is welcoming if you are dining alone - say hi to the locals. I will definitely return."See more

"I had no idea such an impressive Spanish restaurant had been hiding in plain site on Georgia Ave all this time. The food, service, ambience, etc were all on point. As soon as we walked in it reminded me of being back in Madrid at one of the traditional bistros hidden away on one of the many pedestrian streets/alleys that give Spain's capital city it's charm. We were not disappointed with the food at all either. The appetizers/tapas (patatas bravas with a spicy kick, mushrooms in a rich garlic broth) and the paellas (vegetarian and seafood) were excellently done and very satisfying. The Sherry cocktails (mine was a twist on the mojito, recommended by our server) were very refreshing and didn't feel forced at all (i.e. very balanced flavors). The service was very personalized and attentive without being cloying. I highly recommend it to anyone who has walked by a thousand times and wondered if this place is legit. I think the name and the suggestion of "Tex/Mex" on the sign out front might throw some people off but, trust me, try it and you won't be disappointed!"See more

They will also give you a carafe if you ask for one. Found our server was able to give was able to provide great service who was quite attentive. Would come back for sure, especially once the weather is nice and warm for their upstairs patio."See more

"It is hard to choose which was better at Letena, the food or the service. We were warmly greeted by various staff people who clearly love this restaurant and are so happy to offer you a chance to love it too. I had the vegetable sampler and my companion had the chef’s special beef dish. Each dish was prepared to order, delicious, and of course, the injera “bread” was perfect. Ethiopian cuisine is unique, but first timers should not be frightened away by the way that you eat with your hands or the unfamiliar dishes. The food can be mild or spicy (the menu clearly indicates which is which) and the flavors are warm and subtle. I try to enjoy Ethiopian food when I can, and Letena is authentic, cheerful, and by far my favorite!"See more

"We went to the TGIF on a Friday evening after a movie with co-worker. Reservation on Open Table worked well since restaurant was crowded. Staff very friendly. Asked to sit at a table that had just been vacated and needed to be cleaned and that was done quickly. On a side note, my friend had gotten a small cut and was bleeding. Not fault of the restaurant. Our server, Mariah, contacted the manager (forget to get her name) and she brought several size bandages which was very considerate. Mariah was really attentive even on a busy evening. Food was good and drink changes were handled patiently. Kudos to the staff all the way around."See more
