Across from Millennium park and along Chicago’s Cultural Mile, Acanto Restaurant + Wine Bar is a treasured destination for those who appreciate authentic and approachable Italian food in a conversation-friendly atmosphere. Acanto serves seasonally-driven Italian cuisine from both regions of Italy utilizing artisanal ingredients from Midwest farmers and producers. Acanto boasts one of the most lauded wine programs in the US, including a 3-star rating by World of Fine Wine and a two-glass “Best of Excellence” rating by Wine Spectator. The libations menu is rounded out by Italian classics including spritzes and negronis along with craft cocktails, beer, and spirits. ---The Berghoff Restaurant is a Chicago landmark, serving German-style cuisine and culture since 1898. One of the oldest family-run businesses in the nation, now run by the fourth generation, Pete Berghoff. Today's Berghoff menus have evolved to add newer, lighter, and more contemporary dishes, but it's still the same old Berghoff, down to the famous root beer. In December 2018, the Berghoff family opened Adams Street Brewery, aptly named after the street they have called home for over a century, to nod to their brewing roots and commemorate the restaurant's 120th anniversary.

The food was just great, the service was excellent (thanks Luis) and the ambiance really nice. And although the restaurant was full it was quiet and you could could have a peaceful conversation… Every dish ( curry, steak, apple cobbler) was very, but really very good.

Went for lunch. My dad and I got the poke and the rock shrimp as appetizers. Both were amazing. I had the salmon and my dad had the burger. The appetizers were definitely the highlight of the meal for me but the food was good all around.

Acanto is a favorite, and for good reason. The food is wonderful, interesting and always delicious. We had the pear salad, the seafood fusilli, and the special, grilled branzino. Generous portions of perfectly prapared, thoughtful recipes. For dessert, the affogato, which is a real treat. The service was great, and the atmosphere at Acanto is always pleasant, with its views of the Bean and Millennium Park. This is a great place pre-symphony (just a block away) or post-Art Institute, or especially just for a very special evening out. Such wonderful food!

I absolutely loved my experience at the Berghoff! Our waitress was kind and attentive, and the service was incredibly quick for how busy it was that night. We had the cheese curds, and my main was the smoked salmon napoleon. Food came out fresh and delicious! We finished off with the black forest cake which was a delight, perfectly balanced sweetness. I'll definitely be back!
