Serafina opened its doors in 1991 as an intimate neighborhood restaurant located along Eastlake between the University and Downtown. Its intimate, sultry atmosphere, outdoor garden seating and its authentic Italian cuisine make it a favorite with diners from around the Puget Sound and beyond. Serafina's philosophy is simple: Offer the freshest, highest quality ingredients, present the food in an honest and inviting way, and provide the casual warmth and soothing ambiance that echoes the welcoming embrace of an Italian home. The ritual of coming together sharing wine and food with family and friends is the central motif in our lives. Italian food has an immediacy, honesty, and warmth; it possesses the spirit of a grandmother's wisdom and love. Italian food isn't about trailblazing alchemy or edible high fashion; Italian food is about staying connected—to each other, to the past, to the earth.

The food was incredible. And the service was fast, perhaps a little too fast, but I completely understand. They need to move people in and out, and it wasn’t uncomfortable by any means. The hostess was a little distracted and perhaps not the most personal but we did get our table.

Terra Plata is quintessentially northwest in its decor and warm ambience. The food is always excellent and the service is attentive but not intrusive. We had a large party for a birthday and the staff returned calls for tweaking the reservation and accommodated special requests with the utmost friendliness. Our server was professional and knowledgeable, making the evening extra special. A sweet touch was the birthday printed on our menus. It's made a nice keepsake. Terra Plata is a class act and I cannot recommend it highly enough.

Great food as always. The menu is a little daunting, page after page of delicious sounding food. We started with the bacon slab as an appetizer. It’s not often I would rave about a parsley purée instead of bacon, but it was so good. I had the sausage and beef meatloaf for an entree. Excellent. Highly recommend.

The Pink Door was hard to find. It’s on a small backstreet with no signage, just a pink door that opens to a narrow staircase. The entrance was crowded with people trying to get walk-in seating. Fortunately we had reservations and were taken to a great table overlooking the water. Service was excellent as was the food. The Pink Door should be high on your list of restaurants in Seattle, but book well in advance.
