"There is a new menu that caters to both vegetarians and fish lovers. My wife had a deconstructed caramelized onion and mushroom tart with collard greens and carrot shavings as well as a side of scallops in smoked eggplant puree, with crispy pancetta sprinkles, parsnip chips, and micro radish greens. I had grilled octopus with parsnip veloute, toasted lentils they were tasty, and substantial. The fish is Ocean Wise. It was a very good meal and we enjoyed being there."See more

"We came in looking for a quiet, interesting family dinner. It was quiet enough for civilized conversation and though the food was well prepared, the menu was limited. The alcoholic offerings were more extensive. My guess is the the drinks were the features while the food was the tag along. If that was the plan, it works well. Just don't expect a rich dining experience."See more

"My wife and I attended Baru's for her birthday dinner. I couldn't have asked for a better evening. The meal being perfect of ceviche for an applie, halibut for the main course and a flan for desert and of course the sangria too. The atmosphere was laid back, jazz playing, which was perfect. I would definitely recommend Baru's."See more

Pub | Kitsilano,

"We stopped by here with some relatives to have dinner with our son who is a student at UBC. Food was very good - salmon burger was very nicely done. Guinness on tap was a little too cold and glass of wine could have been a little bigger for the price, but overall we had a great time and will return. Music was just starting as we left and it was nice that they kept the volume at a level that people can still talk."See more
