L'Antipasto Ratings and Reviews
One of our pasta dishes was so undercooked, you couldn’t eat it, it tasted hard and raw still, and the “chef” said it was al dente - they argued with me and my gf (The other pasta dish we ordered was cooked well). The chef and sever maintained they were right, and we were wrong.
They asked us if we wanted to order something else, we said yes, only to be told that the kitchen was closed. When we left 5 mins later, all the staff were sitting down eating freshly cooked food.
Worst experience ever in Yaletown. We will never ever go back.
Staff and chef first, customers second at this place.
The food was disappointing, given that the venue seemed cozy and was very busy. One of our party ordered pasta carbonara. You'd imagine this would be a simple dish to get right but the pasta was still crunchy, not even 'al dente', and it seemed that it had either absorbed all the sauce or had no sauce at all. When the dish was sent back, the waiter returned with the message from the chef that she stood by her dish and that 'this is how ot's prepeared in Italy. Nonsense, since I've eaten the dish in several Italian cities and it has always been creamy and delicious. This one was none of them those things. A risotto was then ordered as a replacement and came swimming in a soup-like sauce (clearly the chef having a childish dig) with the rice way overcooked. The dish was super-salty and altogether inedible. It was sent back uneaten. The restaurant refused to comp both dishes and only comped the 'carbonara' dish. In spite of the pathetic food, the server was really nice and very efficient. I wouldn't recommend this family-owned restaurant to anyone who wants real Italian. The 'chef' was arrogant and dismissive and clearly an amateur. Avoid this place if you like good food.
The price of the date night special has gone up considerably from the original price which is still on the website. The higher price is no longer a bargain. Our server agreed to honour the website price but when the bill came, someone else had not only charged us the higher price, he had charged for 3 desserts instead of 2. The mistake was taken care of but it is definitely worth checking the bill before you pay.
L'Antipasto is a great option for those looking for genuine Italian cuisine. The fact that they make their own pasta gives an unbelievable flavor to the dishes, not to mention the freshness of the ingredients. All of the staff is really polite, and they make you feel really comfortable. I completely recommend this restaurant.
Thanks L'Antipasto !
Everything was delicious - we ordered the bruschetta appetizer, the pasta with bacon and the seafood pasta with tomato sauce, the tiramisu and the crème brûlée. The service was great- we loved our server Laura - she made great suggestions for food and wine. The food was really authentic. We loved our experience and we will definitely be back in the future.
Fabulous staff, very helpful and friendly. Food was delicious, well prepared and presented, fresh unique flavours. Never felt rushed even though they have limited seating. Would recommend making a reservation!
Before attending Coldplay concert in Vancouver, we really enjoyed dining at this small, intimate restaurant. Good service combined with creative cuisine made this an evening to remember.
This restaurant came highly recommended by a friend. It did not disappoint. I would eat here again.
Clams were excellent, they charge for bread (very European) but in my opinion cheep. Burrata was very nice but too cold so the interior did not spill out like it should, and usually you serve the complete cheese not three slices. Olive oil could have been more complex. Pasta texture was excellent but they did not salt the water enough. One staff member was painful to watch work, and had to ask for crushed pepper. My first visit to Vancouver, there may be better but I still left smiling. It is obvious they know thier food, take it up a notch then it would be a 10/10 ! Love the terasse!
Staff were all really nice and had genuine smiles. Burrata was delicious. Tirimasu was the balls!!
We visited the restaurant during our vacation in Canada. At the beginning we were very optimistic because we saw that the team (including the chef) were all from Italy. Bu the food was pretty normal - nohing you couldn´t do by yourself at home.
So so service, so so food.
Incredible little Italian restaurant in the heart of Yaletown. Food was amazing and service was awesome. The space was a little small but didn't really hinder the experience. Overall it was a great experience and I would highly recommend.
The food was tasty (mushroom risotto; pasta with tomato sauce with seafood). The service was top notch.
Enjoyed the burrata and prosciutto although the consistency of the burrata was a bit unusual. The homemade pasta dishes we ordered were both very good. I had a tagliatelle with meat sauce that was wonderful while my husband ordered spaghetti alla carbonara. The restaurant interior was a but small and stuffy was we opted to eat outside. I would definitely come here again for a casual Italian meal.
Fabulous meal - they never disappoint!! Took advantage for their "date night" special for my friend and I - great deal!
Food outrageously salty. Our server Jay was great tried to accommodate but the chef said that is how it is.
Small restaurant but the food were delicious. Hand made pasta. Slow cook sauce. I love this place. Make sure to make reservations and ask for table on the patio
This was our second time at the restaurant, great food and great service! Highly recommend for pasta lovers and tiramisu!
Great experience last night. .. food was wonderful and the wait staff were even better! Thanks for the travel advice for Sicily and Spain!
A cozy, authentic Italian restaurant just off the waterfront. The food is outstanding, as are the Italian wines. Service is fast and friendly. I will definitely be coming back.
We celebrated our daughter's 13th birthday there and the restaurant, food and service was excellent. The only issue that
The food was good and a good place to get your pasta/Italian wine fix. We sat inside on a warm day and with their open kitchen, I cannot stop sweating. I decided to deal with it and enjoy the food. However, the service was slow, when we were finished with our drinks the waitress never came around to ask if we wanted more, otherwise we would have each ordered probably two more drinks (maybe most people just order bottle wines there so they don't have to go back often, but we were drinking beers). Then when we decided to leave we had to ask for our check 3 times.
Pleasantly surprised!! Authentic Italian. Straight from Italy.
Excellent food, but it's a tiny place. Inside the restaurant was unbearably hot, and the patio seating was very limited. Super long wait for parties with more than two people. 50 min wait beyond our reserved time for my group of four due to four different parties holding onto their last glass of wine or beer forever and the inability of the staff to hurry them along.
We had a fantastic dinner last night at L'antipasto. The house Antipasto was excellent and substantial for the two of us. Pasta was the best I've had outside of Italy. Can't remember the name of the dish but was essentially spaghetti with seafood. I really liked that they didn't shy away from giving their sauce a kick. It had just the right amount of spice heat. Can't wait to go back.
Loved it...great food..great service. Would have liked bread with pasta offered rather than pay separately.
Very hot inside , foods great, service was lack lustre
Overall very good; just the hostess seemed a little condescending; I do know what pancetta is and the fact that it does come from Italy.
Great food and service at this hole in the wall. Good location on mainland street too.
Great pasta place. I've been there 3 times now. Will definitely go back
Food was good, service was not. Had to ask to order and to receive the check. Waiter also had to verify our initial order more than once. Took a long time for each course as well as drinks.
It was overall a nice, italian experience! The food was good, except for the fridge cold burrata. It tastes so much more when it's not! We will definitely go back. The spaghetti was peeeeerfect!
Everyone was very nice. We had to wait a little while outside, but we were early for our reservation. So, we didn't mind. They sat us inside while we waited for an outside table, but we liked inside. So, we stayed there. The servers were very friendly and the food was cooked to perfection and very tasty.
Staff was personable and lovely. The meal was amazing, and the atmosphere was charming.
Fantastic food, great service!
We've been to L'Antipasto several times, and come back because the food is delicious and the atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable. Not pretentious - just lovely Italian food done simply and well. The servers are helpful but unobtrusive. We will return.
Really enjoyed our meal here. The food was really tasty and fresh and the atmosphere is nice and relaxed. Sitting out on the patio is a bonus, it is small but enjoyable.
The only thing I noticed is that on their website they have a date night option which says its $99 Sunday - Thursday and $109 on the weekends. We went on a Monday and it was $122, please update your website if this is the new pricing. I didn't say anything as it was a birthday meal for my partner but be nice to have the correct prices online.
It is still a good deal for what you get.
Will defo be back, the food is lovely :)
A-M-A-Z-I-N-G !!! Not much more I can say. The food was spectacular! I would highly recommend this restaurant to anyone whose a foodie.
I've got mixed feelings with our experience at L'antipasto. The appetizers were amazing, so good I'd write home about then. The main entry on the other hand were bad. Really bad. Like each had a bite and sent them back bad. The risotto tasted like gravy and the carbonara was not carbonara sauce at all. The pasta was very very under done. Sadly our server didn't check on us and we had to flag her down multiple times for refills. Jay on the other hand was the server who came to our rescue and made everything better. Thanks jay for the memorable experience.
