French
Le Yaca began in 1964 in Courchevel, a tiny, country village in the French Alps. Daniele Bourderau & Gerard decided it would be fun to open a small restaurant. When friends learned of their plans, they told the hopeful restaurateurs they were crazy to think people would drive eight kilometers on a winding, icy road for dinner. Daniele and Gerard hesitated for three months and then decided, “yaca le faire,” a contraction of the French phrase “il n’y a qu’a le faire,” which basically means, “let’s do it.” They called the restaurant Le Yaca as a gag, but the name caught on with customers who were amused by the pun and contributed to the restaurant’s lore by inventing “yaca-isms” of their own: yaca y aller (let’s go). Daniele came to the United States and opened Le Yaca in Williamsburg. Daniel Abid bought Le Yaca in 2001. Daniel worked and trained in such prestigious places as “Le Pre Catelan” and “Lenotre” in Paris; “L’Amandier” and “Roger Verge," and to top it all off, “Alain Ducasse.”

Le Yaca, was by far, the most exquisite and delightful restaurant I have ever been to. The food was immaculate ! You know could taste the passion in me every dish!! The atmosphere was so romantic. Our waitress was the best and the manager was so nice. Overall, the experience was amazing!! Can’t wait to come back again. Thank you for making my mom’s birthday, the best !!

Just lovely experience at Le Yaca! Perfect service, perfect selection, perfect food, perfect atmosphere. We enjoyed cocktails, French wine, soups, tiramisu, sorbet, beef Wellington and filet.

Le Yaca was fabulous from the moment we walked in the door! We ate at the bar, made friends with a local who gave us great food suggestions. The bartender was great, drinks, dinner and wine were superb and we can't wait to go back! Highly highly recommend!

Not great for the cost. Bar program severely lacking and does nothing to elevate the experience. Watered down cocktails thanks to cheap, small ice and underwhelming wine suggestions. $90 5-course prix fixe had highlights (scallops, gazpacho, well cooked meats), but overall more misses than hits. Unrecognizable "house specialty" French Onion soup (greyére wasn't even melted), weird truffle-heavy salad served with a weird truffle heavy salad and bread (??) instead of dry fruits and nuts with dessert cheese plate (which was just meh), and inattentive/unprofessional staff. For the money, I expect far better. Kind of felt like a very expensive, French Olive Garden.

Another great experience from La Yaca. The yellow gazpacho was great, made our special day for Fathers Day great having that as the soup of the day! Outstanding all around and special thanks to our server Ming!

We were so glad to be able to get into La Yaca for Father’s Day brunch on Saturday. As usual everything was above and beyond amazing, including service from men, the seafood special the soup of the day that was a cream of fennel soup and of course the desserts. The only problem is we were also stuffed. We could hardly walk! Recommend for special occasion or just indulging oneself. 😃

Food at Le Yaca is always great. A little too loud for us last night. Still a great place to celebrate an anniversary.

Food and service were excellent. Be sure to bring a coat or sweater even in the summer. Staff tried a few times to make it more comfortable which worked for about 30 minutes before again being too cold for the last 45 minutes. Ironically I would have lingered w another drink except it was too cold. Woman at the table nearby never took off her jacket so it was not just our table.
