Lelli's of Auburn Hills

My girlfriend and I were going to Great Lakes Crossing the next day and decided to get a hotel room for the night. I wanted to surprise her, so I googled "fancy restaurant" and from the list selected Lelli's. I read some reviews, and decided this would be an excellent place for our date. Upon entering we were greeted nicely at the booth, waited only a short time and then were seated. The excellent service started from the and didn't end the whole time we were there. The food was delicious and we enjoyed every bite! From start to finish, it was a wonderful experience.
Dislikes for a restaurant that charges high class prices:
- valet parking costs $3 plus tip ( should be free + tip)
- the butter brought out with the bread was margarine and bland tasting (bread was fresh and good though)
- ordered the 11 oz filet medium, it was only medium rare when brought out. Sent it back and received it about the time my wife finished her entree.
- I drank Diet Coke and the glass was filled to the top first with ice, then soda. Not enough soda in the glass to enjoy without asking for refills (reminded me of what lower class restaurants do to save $)
- the booth we sat in needed the seat padding redone, felt like a diner booth seat
- cutlery was made in China and looked and felt cheap
- my wife ordered the lamb chops and she said they were the best she has ever had
- my filet was good, once it was cooked properly (although I do not personally like their “zip sauce”)
- nice cozy atmosphere
- the shrimp cocktail was very good, but you only get 3 shrimp in the order
We felt that Morton’s is a better experience with better food and slightly less expensive.
Lelli's is a long time favorite. Never disappoints. Love the fillet and zip sauce.
Not like Lelli’s of old. Service slow, food not up to price of meal. Was once a favorite, however, seems outdated.
I was with my 12 year old, who loves fine dining and steak. The meal was outstanding,
but frankly, the service was not. We are there for more than TWO hours, which was WAY
too long, Had to wait 20 minutes before we even had water, and then 20 more at the end to get a bill.
Love the restaurant still, but hope for better service next time.
Consistent for all these years! Lellis is truly a gem
Great food. Great waiter. Perfect restaurant for a special occasion.
Just ok. Cold coffee over priced menu.
Food was ok, not at the level of the price, and the sides were sub sub sub par. Service was poor. The bussers were great, but the waitress was very unfriendly and made you uncomfortable asking for something. They were out of like 12 wines (the waitress actually handed me a list), out of oysters and calamari. And to top everything off, at the end of our $400 meal, I wanted to take the rest of my wine home, something I've done a million times at a million different places. My wife does not drink wine and I like to drink nice wine, but don't wanna drink the whole bottle and drive, I was told that there is a "$25 corking fee"!! So let me get this straight, after a $400 meal that included a $130 bottle of wine, that was only half drank, I'm going to be charged $25 to just put the cork back in!! This is just stupid and seems greedy. It's too bad honestly, my family has been coming here for years, but I will never back unless I have to go there because of family. Their minestrone soup and fillet with zip sauce are great, but just not worth it considering everything else. Too many other high end options out there for them to behave in this way.
It's been quite a while since visiting Lelli's in Auburn Hills, but we wondered why we waited so long. The food was delicious and abundant. The service was friendly and efficient. The area has some construction going on, so prepare for a bit of a detour.
The very best northern Italian food around!! A true Italian classic restaurant!
Celebrated a 50th Wedding Anniversay and had white-glove service the entire time! Always amazing service and great food!
Steaks were good, service and sides were very disappointing.
What a great dinner! Our waiter Ryan was outstanding, super nice very knowledgeable
Loved the food as they catered to my dairy allergy 100%! Plus the waitress was extremely friendly and helpful. Definitely would go back again.
Excellent service, however the portions were extremely small for the price. The restaurant could definitely use a remodel!
I love this place. Use to save my $ when in college to go and get the petite filet with zip sauce. Five course meal always fills you up and we paired with a great bottle of Stag's Leap. Get dinning.
Great veal chops and loved the Cakebread Sauvignon Blanc!! Wonderful service- great staff!
Lelli's is an old fashioned steak/seafood house. Waiters still dressed in jackets and ties. Fodd is plentiful and good quality, but pretty basic. No fancy menu items, just steaks and seafood. All entrees can be purchased a la carte of as part of a 5 course dinner. Do order the latter unless your really hungry.
Wonderful meal with a Florida friend. Latosha was a wonderful server. Our friend was impressed!
We had an amazing meal and excellent service. The Filet was delicious! Cooked perfectly. We will be back!
Overall very good, but had been tastier previously
Lamb Chop was overcooked and cold. New chop came out raw although it did heat up nicely.
Old school fine dining at its finest. A little run down, but still classy. Food was delicious and our waiter was great. The strolling minstrels were as vintage as the decor, but enjoyable. Worth the $$
We ordered the calamari appetizer-it was excellent, not at all greasy or tough and seasoned lightly! Husband had the veal parm, I had the sea bass special, both came with twice baked mash potato and green beans. The potatoes were watery, thus the 4 star rating, at this higher price point each item on the plate should be perfect.,..My sea bass was absolutely delicious cooked perfectly. Hubbys veal was also very good. Our waiter, Isiah, was attentive and friendly. It is a lovely, traditional Italian restaurant.
I have been before and thought it was great. This time I believe the food is overpriced for what you get. Also, we battled fruit flies the entire time. We were not the only ones that complained about this issue. I don't think I'll be going back anytime soon.
Excellent meal and service. I have been eating at Lelli's since 1977 and I enjoy going as much now as I did then.
Only issue we had is there was no music playin at all during our 2 hrs there. Service by Kaylin and her support team was fantastic. Thank you.
Love the multiple courses. Tough to find a better filet anywhere
Salmon, chicken marsala, filet and fettuccine were all first class. My 71st year going and not a single disapppointing meal.
We celebrated my husband's birthday here! Had the traditional selection for our entree! Great choice! Impeccable food quality and professional servers. Highly recommend this one!
Hadn't been here in quite awhile. Enjoyable dinner, but a little pricey. Place is showing its age. Used a Groupon which helped defray the cost a bit. Service was excellent from LaTasha.
Consistently wonderful food (especially the petite filet mignon with zip sauce) and superb service!
Service was very slow. Waitstaff forgot about us multiple times.
Food and waiters were wonderful. lol be the ambience. A bit pricey.
Having read the reviews we didn't know what to expect. In hindsight and in our opinion they were unfairly harsh. We were extremely pleased. The food was wonderful, like you were eating out of your great grandma's kitchen. We went with the multi course meals and enjoyed every round. A little pricey for the fare, and I eat in Chicago on a regular basis to offer that comparison. Give it a try, it was a great night with friends.
Excellent place to take a date to. Great atmosphere, great food.
We jumped across the street as Lelli's was just across from our office and hotel. Service was quite good. The waitress was very knowledgeable and friendly. Regarding the food - it was so so...We had one gentlemen send back his fish not touched. I had the chicken marsala which was decent. The waitress raved about the trip in butter sauce. Frankly, it was decent at best. I didn't believe the food quality was worth the price. I would not go back for a personal meal.
The food was very good, as usual. However, our service left much to be desired, especially when compared to our last time here when it was excellent. Our waiter was fairly efficient, but not personal at all and most of the night we felt like he was just putting food on our table on his way somewhere else. Very disappointing since the food isn't inexpensive!! However, the young man who was bussing tables and filling water glasses did a great job and was more personable than our waiter!
We haven't been to Lelli's in years and decided to go for birthday dinner
because they had a great groupon deal. The steaks were fantastic! Everything else
just ok our waitstaff was very nice and pleasant but service was very very slow!
It wasn't a crowded night but waited forever to get rolls, to have them come back
when the other people when our party got there and in between just to see if we
needed anything. The gentlemen who filled up water glasses and things like that
was more attentive than our waiter. Like I said he was very nice and maybe he had
all the tables so busy? I thought the plating of the food could have been nicer My daughter got surf/turf with the salmon and the onions she got for her steak were all over the place falling off plates very drippy and salmon lemon sauce same thing just not what you expect for this fine dining experience and prices
