great food-wait staff was wonderful- paid attention, but not intrsuive
Always enjoy coming here for lunch. Food quality is consistently high. Service is strong, mostly. Two of us had the Ahi Tuna Salad and it was awesome--simple and great.
My only suggestion--turn down the music just a bit for the lunch crowd.
I love this place. The food is consistently good and the atmosphere is perfect for a special afternoon in Leesburg.
We have been going to Lightfoots since they opened around the corner from where they are now.
The food has always been very good and we enjoy introducing new people to this restaurant. We brought another couple with us who had not dined here before. The food was excellent and several new items on the menu were a special surprise.
The one problem we encountered was a large party upstairs,I believe a wedding. A few drunk people walked
in and out passed our table one even fell on the floor. The next problem was the ladies room which was trashed.
Paper, water and other unappealing things covered the floor and sink tops. I had never seen this bathroom in this bad shape. I approached the man at the podium to inform him of the problem. His reply "yes I know ,too many drunk people upstairs" and then "thank you" and he walked away. Nothing was done to improve the situation. With this many people they needed a bathroom attendant checking every half hour to hour, even
McDonald's does that. I was embarrassed when our guest needed to use the ladies room.
Great experience! Didn’t do anything special for my birthday though which was a bit disappointing.
The main issues we had were related to the first Mimosas that came out were clearly premade and had to be stirred so as to fix the separation of components, the sticky buns that came out were overdone and the Eggs Benedict that my date ordered was just “okay”. In addition - it was a brunch and we were seated next to a loud group as opposed to any number of tables that were free and infinitely more private (asked and they were “reserved” though we had a reservation and no one occupied them while we were there). Service was good but not great. Have been to Lightfoot many times and have had many great experiences so this one time will not sour my overall opinion but was slightly disappointed on this occasion.
Seated on time with reservations. Great wine list. It was really cold at our table. Wait staff was prompt. Drinks came quickly. It took close to an hour to get bread. Food was delicious.
Wonderful food and waiter, but the restaurant was SO cold, we were extremely uncomfortable even with long sleeves and sweaters.
We had a nice lunch and great service but I have to say how sad that Lightfoot didn’t recognize my friends 80th birthday with a small dessert and candle. I remarked when I made the reservation and the waiter saw the Godiva I brought for her and yet nothing...disappointed.
Dinner special Streak and Cake did not have a lot of flavor and my steak was under-cooked.
This restaurant was great. It was our first time here and we were very impressed with the ambiance and food. We will definitely return.
Great restaurant. Always a winner. We had a fun time. Our server was great.
Lightfoot is a Leesburg treasure. Great food and service and a unique atmosphere that doesn't have a comparison. We have been there many times and never been disappointed. We have family members that come to town occasionally and want to head to Lightfoot when they are here.
We had a fabulous meal celebrating some friends birthdays. The scallop/ sweet potato pancake appetizer was wonderful. Ham biscuits are always solid and all of our desserts came with cotton candy!
First visit. Amazing architecture not so good for acoustics. Had an understandably noisy wedding party on the upper floor but could hardly hold a conversation on the lower floor. Really good food. Service kind of disappeared after the main course. Will come again to see if just an off night.
I am a fan of Lightfoot Restaurant, I have been there many times. The night we were there was the last night of Loudoun Restaurant week so it was very noisy and crowded with a boisterous party upstairs. Our server was pleasant but rushed. I always enjoy the fried green tomatoes and usually split an order with a friend. This night since they were part of the Restaurant Week menu, we were not able to split them. After filling up on the tomatoes, we each enjoyed our main courses, with plenty left to bring home for another meal. The peach cobbler was more of the cake than peaches, but that would be my only complaint. I will continue to go to Lightfoot, it is one of my favorite places for outdoor happy hour during the summer.
Always a treat to eat at the Lightfoot. Our service was superb! I had the lunch special..although the tomato basil soup had a good flavor, it was a little to spicy for me. Remainder of my meal was delicious.
An excellent restaurant. We have been coming here for several years and it remains consistent. A great old bank building and great art work for a great atmosphere.
The service was ridiculously slow. I had clients with me so I cannot complain but we waited probably 30 minutes for our food. And then we probably waited another 25 minutes to have our dishes picked up to get our bill. It was very uncomfortable with how slow the service was.
Excellent place! Food was great and the atmosphere was as well. Will definitely return.
Our first visit to Lightfoot was a mixed bag. There were six of us and much of the food (Sunday brunch) was fine. The eggs benedict with beef tips was good although the kitchen went pretty light on the hollandaise. But the eggs were cooked perfectly. The sticky biscuits were to die for. Other dishes were good with one exception. My husband (who was picking up the tab) ordered something called the Arizona pita bread. It was supposed to have avocados and hummus -- neither seemed to be in the dish. Basically, it was a pile of chopped veggies sitting on a pita bread round. The way it was served was difficult to eat with anything other than a fork. He was not happy.
The ambiance was nice and the restaurant has a historic vibe which fits neatly with old Leesburg. Service was so so. Waitress was nice but seemed a little inexperienced. I asked her if they had Bellinis and she didn't seem to know what that was. She said no. Toward the end of the meal, the bus boy was constantly interrupting conversations to clear the table completely -- not just the finished plates. Finally, my sister asked him to go away until we were done. We left soon after without dessert or coffee feeling like they wanted us out of there but it was 2:30 in the afternoon and no one was waiting for a table.
I might give them another chance but I don't know about my husband.
Get ready to add Lightfoot to your list of favs. Fantastic - each and every single time.
The reservation was for our anniversary and Lightfoot had been highly recommended by a relative. The waitress greeted us with "Happy anniversary." We had been advised to ask for a table near the window which we were granted and which was good because most of the tables were around the bar. There was a wild rehearsal dinner that was very audible. My wife ordered a special of filet mignon and crabcake, which she said was very good. I ordered the lobster and shrimp pasta, which was delicious but the lobster was spongy and I had such difficulty swallowing a piece that I had to go outside with a glass of water until it passed. Neither our waitress nor management noticed. Our waitress came to us after we'd finished our entrees and said that for our anniversary we could have a tiny sundae with cotton candy or a champagne toast. My wife told her she didn't drink but could I have the champagne. Our waitress said, "You have a choice between EITHER a tiny sundae with cotton candy OR a champagne toast." We took the sundae, which was very tiny, paid and left.
Wonderful, as always!
As in the past, the food, service, and ambiance was very, very good. The menu dishes are always accompanied by interesting specials. The desserts are simple and fun. Cotton candy is normally served as a “side” to the dessert. Fun!
Our first visit to Lightfoot. My wife and I on a rare date night. We enjoyed the unique interior of restaurant and the cool decor. We were sat at a nice private booth. Our server was friendly and attentive. But...over everything else, it was the food that really blew us away. We ended up having one of those dining experiences that you keep talking about over and over. A great bottle of wine, amazing wild mushroom torte with walnuts and cream sauce appetizer. For entrees my wife had a beautiful piece of fish and I was totally amazed by the slow braised pork shank...one of the best things I’ve ever eaten. Desert was a delicious raspberry creme brûlée with a chilled desert wine. We had a great experience and can’t wait to go back with friends and family and more date nights.
Wonderful birthday celebration with my wife. The St. Julien Salmon was cooked perfectly. My seafood pasta was so delicious. They brought a little treat of an ice cream cup for my wife's special day. Such a beautiful restaurant. Reservations suggested.
Food was delicious, Service was excellent, noise level was very distracting - it was difficult to hold a conversation with anyone but the persons next to me or directly across the table. We had a party of seven.
It was "Taste of Leesburg" this evening, and it was extremely loud. They kindly moved us to another table, but the noise level was extremely loud. I think they should not allow large groups from the festival to occupy the bar when this is occuring. The food was outstanding and Travis, our waiter, was outstanding trying to make it better.
As usual Lightfoot was awesome! The food was so good and cooked perfectly. We received our food quickly and our server was very knowledgeable. We will definitely go back.
The food was very good, as usual. The service was a little slow. Also we were celebrating a 70th birthday, which was noted when reservation was made with assurance that something special would be done, but server completely forgot and nothing was done. This was a little disappointing.
Family get together
We went to the Lightfoot for a family birthday. The food is okay, the service was far below what would be expected for a restaurant of this caliber. The setting is beautiful and we were expecting the service and food to be consistent with the prices and atmosphere.
It is an okay place to go, but just be aware the service and food are more on the caliber of Applebees. My suggestion, save the money and go to Burton's, much better food and much better service.
The quality of the food and the service was absolutely outstanding. I live over 90+ miles away from the Lightfoot restaurant, but I would gladly make the trip again. It was a high quality culinary and client service experience!!!
Amazing brunch!! Jonathan was a phenomenal server for our party of 14. Will definitely come back!
Lightfoot has been around for ages. It's a staple restaurant in downtown Leesburg. We've been coming here for 5+ years. That being said, it feels stale. They've been doing the same thing since the first time I came. Yes, they have a handful of specials each time you visit, but everything from the wine list to menu is predictable and tired. Maybe it's because I've dined here so many times, but the niceness/fanciness of the restaurant seems to have faded. If you like basic (slightly elevated) steak + potato + veggie dishes then you'll do fine here. Our service was also incredibly slow last Saturday. I get that this is the type of restaurant that wants to make you not feel rushed, but if I have to look at my phone to see that it's been over an hour since I placed my order and my food still isn't here I'm wondering why. It's a shame that the owner doesn't want to do more with the place. It's such a beautiful location, but like so many downtown Leesburg restaurants, they are getting by on the fact that they've been there forever, and forget to try new things, and make their guests excited to come back. I don't think I'll come back for a date night or special occasion anytime soon. Maybe to grab a drink at the bar and eat a salad or burger, but to spend $$ on dinner for the quality of food we got just isn't worth it anymore.
What an amazing place to celebrate our wedding anniversary- they spoiled us with well wishes and a celebratory champagne toast, and our server Jonathan was warm and accommodating. Appetizers, cocktails, and entrees all spectacular. I'm still dreaming about the atomic crab cake and my husband said he hadn't had a filet that perfect in a long time. Thank you Lightfoot!
We shared a wonderful birthday dinner with family here. Excellent service and beautiful, classic interior. Food was outstanding.
Loved it!!! Can’t wait to go back!! Restaurant is beautiful, staff is phenomenal, and the food is Amazing!
Always a pleasant experience. There is an extensive brunch menu on Saturday. Travis was an excellent waiter. Very relaxed way to enjoy lunch or brunch on the weekend.
