It might be one of the best new restaurants in Minneapolis, but the building converted into the Canopy hotel dates to the turn of the century. Its timber structure with lofty wood-beam ceilings is a charming venue for breakfast, lunch or dinner. UMBRA’s cuisine focuses on locally sourced, seasonal ingredients including walleye and cheeses from Minnesota. Among the more intriguing menu items are the po-boy with walleye and habanero cheese, a beet carpaccio and burrata salad, a pork chop with rhubarb coulis, and the signature burger topped with gouda and duck bacon. Flat breads are another specialty.

The eatery opened inside the Elliot Park Hotel in 2018 and was immediately recognized as one of the best new restaurants in Minneapolis.
