Birk’s was the barometer of the market during the dot com days. If you had to make a reservation, you knew all the VC‘s were there meeting with their potential partners. Birk’s was the go to place when I lived in Santa Clara nearly 16 years ago. I was back in the Bay Area this week for business and decided to check out Birk’s again. They haven’t missed a beat. It was as great as it ever was. The food was tremendous and the service was excellent. I am glad to see that things that are really important are still around after all these years. Thank you so much.

Great dinner experience downtown! Ask for an elevator keycard on your way to the 5th floor (not marked in the elevator). Unless raining, the outdoor seating has a nice lounge vibe, and heaters. Nice drinks and bar area. Food and service were great, with some accessible comfort foods that my kids recognized and loved, nice ambiance. This place deserves to do well!

The filet mignon is unbelievable. About the best I've ever had. But the sides--not so good. They don't fluff the baked potato before adding toppings so everything just melts off. The Izzy potatoes are a mess--greasy and unappetizing. Ask for a naked baked potato and a steak and you'll have an amazing meal!

There was a big rush when we arrived and service was slow to start … but once things got started it was great … chili was wonderful (as usual), broccoli soup lacked seasoning, mushroom pate was delicious but the portion was too small, apple and brie salad was fresh and dressed just right, the Brussels sprouts were cooked perfectly, cornbread was better than the wheat bread but were both good enough to disappear quickly and enjoyed by all, and the pumpkin dessert was shared and started a sword fight with the forks to get the last bite … and the blood orange, ginger, etc n/a cocktail was so good it was (almost) a good value @ $17 … in summary we had an awesome time in a fantastic setting and experienced great service while enjoying excellent food and we will definitely return (hopefully) in the not-so-distant future

We came to Canela for a family birthday dinner and we had a fantastic time! We ended up being 15 minutes late and the hostess (who was also our server) was so kind about it. We had some dietary restrictions in our party (gf, vegetarian) and our server was great about letting us know what size dish she recommended for how many people would partake and reminding us which dishes people could eat when they came to the table. We ended ordering maybe 12 to 15 items and everything came out swiftly but well paced. And the food was amazing! We especially loved the fried chicken, the mushrooms, the cheese plate and the garlic shrimp. There was no dish that wasn’t enjoyable and the drinks were delicious too! Very inventive cocktails and a delightful wine list. As it was a birthday meal, they brought out a dessert with a candle and little happy birthday chocolate medallion. All three desserts we got were absolutely delicious, and the olive oil cake despite being gluten free was so moist and fudgy and delicious. My family can be a little overwhelming and the waitstaff was so accommodating and kind. The vibe is very warm and inviting and comfortable and not too noisy for my hard of hearing parents. Overall the whole experience was immensely enjoyable and I’d definitely recommend Canela to anyone and everyone!!

WILLIAM to the rescue!!! I decided to try this place for a quick birthday dinner. It was a last-minute reservation, and the restaurant was packed. At first, things looked like they might take a disappointing turn—our original server was nowhere to be found, and I started to worry. But then, a sweet woman with curly hair (I wish I had gotten her name!) stepped in and flagged down William to assist us. From that moment on, everything turned around. William immediately apologized for the delay and took charge of the situation with efficiency and professionalism. Despite the restaurant being so busy, William stayed attentive all evening. Toward the end of our meal, he and the kind woman even surprised me with a delightful birthday dessert. It was such a thoughtful touch that made the night feel extra special. The food? Beyond excellent. Every dish was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. I’m so glad I chose this restaurant for my celebration. Thank you, William, and the entire team, for turning what could have been a stressful experience into a memorable birthday dinner! Highly recommend. 🌟

We had a fabulous dinner. The food was excellent. They are very attentive to GF issues and non meat eaters. So much that they asked several questions to make sure we were okay with some of the ingredients and asked the chef about the refried beans to make sure they were vegetarian. The staff was exceptional; very friendly and knowledgeable. I would definately recommend TODOS and will plan to revisit myself.
