About the restaurant

No alleyway has exuded more charm than the one at Lapinou, with its string lights, lanterns, and padded wrought-iron seats. The French néo-bistro — a term for trendy Parisian wine bars — has reached Toronto here; the menu pulls in global influences in dishes such as beef tartare with Dijon, shallot, celery, egg yolk, and grilled sourdough, or lamb garganelli with preserved lemon, nicoise olive, and jalapeno.

Service was fantastic. The Lapinou front of house team was attentive and quick. They overheard it was my birthday and put in extra effort to make the dinner special including a dietary restriction friendly dessert. Cocktails were good, happy hour wine was good too. Food was good! Will be back.

About the restaurant

Celebrity chef Susur Lee leads the kitchen at Lee, a renowned Chinese-French restaurant on King Street West. This is Lee’s flagship, with a menu that showcases Chinese flavors with French technique in dishes such as wild Alaskan caramelized black cod with miso mustard, Asian slow-braised beef with horseradish sour cream, and crispy tofu with a mushroom and pepper compote. Lush foliage, an awning, and wrought iron fence lend the sidewalk seating a serene botanical vibe.

Feature lobster ravioli with XO sauce and a pan seared scallops on-top was wondering. One of the most flavourful dishes I had. The signature salad was very good as well. Every bite had a different element and taste and the presentation was wonderful. The satay beef with tamarind sauce, oysters, lobster dumplings, was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The one dish I thought was mediocre and a little bit misleading was the Peking duck. The duck was more like a western style smoked and salted duck with the wrap and condiments for Peking styled duck. It was alright. Probably on the lower end of the flavour and texture dishes we had tonight. The deserts were okay nothing crazy. The tong yuan was a normal tong yuan similar to the ones you get in a sweet hot soup in Taiwan. The chocolate kinda ruined it tho. The halo halo was good but was just normal shaved ice nothing wild or out of the ordinary. The service was perfect. We ordered a lot of sharing dishes so we had pretty much a 7 course meal to share each plate coming out one at a time. Every course our cutlery and plates were replaced and the tables were wiped. Water was always filled. Server was very nice and knowledgeable. She was attentive to my fish allergy. Couldn't ask for more Overall this experience was an adventurous one. I would recommend it to anyone who is interested in eastern cuisine with lots of Thai influence(most of the dishes we ordered had Thai flavours like lemon grass, tamarind, Thai curry style sauces) with a twist of western style. :)

About the restaurant

If it weren’t for the up-close sight of a Toronto landmark, you’d think you were in Munich at Steam Whistle Biergärten. The German-style beer hall at the base of the CN Tower serves up traditional German fare — think pretzels and schnitzel — alongside its own beer. Outdoor seating has an expansive view of the skyline beyond the string lights and umbrellas for shade.

About the restaurant

Té blends traditional Korean fare with Canadian comfort foods in modern dishes hardly seen anywhere else. Pizza tteokbokki (Korean rice dough balls with sweet chile tomato sauce and oven-baked mozzarella), toasted kimchi ravioli with honey wasabi pesto, and soy-braised braised brisket poutine are just some of the creative offerings. The petite backyard patio is surrounded by trees and lit by string lights for a homey feel.

About the restaurant

This hotel standout offers a seldomly seen perspective of the Toronto skyline and the Don River from its south-facing patio. Perched on the highest floor of a beautifully-restored 19th-century building, the Rooftop’s glass-enclosed indoor dining area, backing the L-shaped patio, makes an eye-catching contrast to the building’s original brick exterior. The urban tableau, pretty cocktails, and shareable menu, featuring plates such as cheesesteak and barbacoa baos, attract a buzzy crowd.
