Local Kitchen & Wine Bar
We really did enjoy our dinner, although a cooler environment would have been appreciated since it was the hottest day of the year.
Quaint place, food took forever to come. When we booked our reservation we were told we would only have 2hours for our table, which seemed like plenty of time. We were seated and our drinks and appetizers came somewhat quickly within 15 min of ordering...then we waited 35 min for our main course, which was pizza and pasta. I’m not sure why they want to rush you out, but take forever to serve you? In addition to all of this, and waiting 35 min for the pasta, it was the wrong order. Frustrated it only seemed to bother myself and my husband, not the servers..which we had 3 different ones, which was also annoying. They offered to make a new pasta but at that point I wasn’t willing to wait another 35 min for pasta. On top of all of this the place was so hot it wasn’t comfortable sitting in there. The server said the a/c was on the highest setting, but others around us were also complaining of how hot it was, so maybe they should check out their ac??? A space pack in a restaurant like that won’t cut it. Overall I was disappointed with my visit. The chef came out a few times and seemed to cater to a few regulars and the rest of us took the back seat. I was very disappointed. The food was tasty, but their are a lot of places in Toronto with tasty food, that also come with better service and hvac systems so I won’t likely go back.
So good! The Summerlicious menu was nice but we also had the porkchop, which I’ve had before. The porkchop is one of the best things to eat in Toronto! 😍😍😍😍
Really loved the options and delicious fresh made food.
Meals were quite salty, though very tasty. Loved the cocktails, and vegetarian options.
Would definitely go again.
The pasta with rabbit and ricotta had almost no rabbit (none that I could taste) and the strawberry tiramisu had no strawberries. Also, the pizza was overcooked and the pasta was undercooked.
Didnt realize this restaurant was even there after passing by on the way to and from work.
The food was absolutely supreme!
We’ll be back there soon.
The food was outstanding! We shared a melted mozzarella ball that came with a toast. Then the entree was a pasta with snail and a butter sauce. It was absolutely delicious!!!!!!! Not to forget about dessert! We had a rhubarb gelato (10+) and the Nutella Balls (10+)
Will definitely return!
The F word here is Fazzoletti. The toppings change seasonally and it's always an amazing dish.
I always spend far mroe than I expect to because everything is just so delicious. Great wine list, too.
Can't recommend the Local Kitchen enough.
Food was fantastic.
Great vibe, delicious food, knowledgeable service staff. Will be going back.
Love it there always really nice ppl and food is great!
Great Italian! Everything was fresh!
Everything tasted so good! A nice spot for a quiet dinner.
everything so perfect. simple yet thoughtful flavours. great wine.
Great food, appetizer was to die for !
It was our 6 anniversary, I made a note in reservation and the guys brought out our dessert with candles.
Overall great dining experience, the food was off the charts amazing, staff was knowledgeable about menu and wine list. Great decor and intimate dining experience.
Would definitely recommend!
Love the food. A little more light in the place would be helpful..it’s pretty dark. Will definitely be back!
My friend and I went for Winterlicious and we decided we would share the dishes as it was our first time at Local. We ordered the Freshly pulled warm Mozzarella and Carpaccio for appetizers. Mozzarella was absolutely delicious as was the Carpaccio but wish I had asked not to put the anchovy on the Carpaccio.
As our entrees, we had squash gnocchi with truffles and chestnut puree and lamb rotolo with parsnip puree and they were absolutely decision. I thought I died and went to heaven. I felt however that the lamb dish was very small in size as an entree. There should have been at least 3 pieces of meat.
Our desserts were heavenly. We ordered the Bombolone with nutella and the Panna Cotta with maple and sea salt. The Bombolone are freshly made with a crispy shell and just enough nutella in the middle. The Panna Cotta was surprisingly so delicious.
It is disappointing that they only serve espresso or americano and my friend wanted a cappuccino. I know that cappuccino, in Italy, is considered a morning coffee however we do need to accept that in Canada people like cappuccino any time of day.
Ambience was nice and quiet however just a little too dark. Everyone was turning the flashlight on their smartphones just to read the menu. All in all, I would definitely go back. The quality of the food is absolutely exceptional.
Overall food was good, not amazing. Service was fine, nothing to write home about. Winterlicious portions are exceptionally small, we ordered a pizza for 3 of us to share after our main course:(
The food and general vibe was good, inside super hipster and cute however it’s a very cramped space. They seemed to back up winterlicious seatings too close, so none of the tables were done eating. We showed up on time and were forced to wait outside (in the winter on a freezing night) Bc they didn’t want to kick the other table out and didn’t want any loitering. Just awful and the bartender was out of this world levels of rude, to the point we almost left. Three out of 4 of us were waiting on the street even tho it was now past our reservation time - that’s on them, not the diners. Our server was nice and the food was good, but they reallllyy need to plan better and learn to accommodate between seatings if they want to stay in winterlicious.
Rare is the time that I review a restaurant. Especially negatively. As a large table we unanimously agreed that the service was subpar, the portions were undersized, and the quality of ingredients were lacking. If you're considering dining at Local Kitchen and Wine Bar, save yourself the time and trouble...go to the McDonald's down the street.
Food is always exceptional, and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable!
Amazing as always! The food is wonderful and the space is great. However the tables are really crammed in there. The table of 2 beside 4 of us was 2 inches away. Not a big deal for us but you couldn’t have an intimate conversation with 2 strangers basically sitting at your table. Totally get they want to maximize the space and covers but kinda dampens the mood.
My experience was a bit bumpy. I had asked my servers opinion between the Rabbit and lamb as I was looking for the preferred meat. They neglected to tell me that the Rabbit was not a cut of meat... rather a light "rabbit sauce" on pasta. The menu made no mention to this either. Needless to say I was shocked when we food arrived. I expected better for the high level dining. However still enjoyed the food thoroughly and would come back again .
Outstanding food and ambiance. The Winterlicious menu was excellent value. The lamb and salmon were exceptional!
We went for my husband’s birthday
Third time back to the Local Kitchen & Wine Bar and it did not disappoint. The dandelion salad had the perfect amount of dressing and the gnocchi with rapini was super fresh.
We shared plates which were tasty and interesting. The music was a bit noisy but tolerable. Nice ambiance and great service. Would recommend to folks in the neighbourhood.
EXCELLENT FOOD AND SERVICE. My one feedback: smaller portions (and adjust price accordingly). Also the chef is hot.
Fantastic food and the service was impeccable. Great dining experience and already planning to return
This is the best restaurant in Toronto there is no reason to ever eat anywhere else.
One of my favorite dinner spots, wonderful for going to with family, friends, or professional engagements. Outstanding food and service, beautiful spot.
This was a first! Made a reservation, responded to a voice mail to confirm my reservation (stated it was required to do so) and then showed up for my Saturday evening reservation at exactly 8:30. We were told our table would be ready in 10 minutes and to head to the bar 2 doors down to grab a drink and they would call me. I am still waiting for that call. I do not know how a restaurant thinks that this is acceptable conduct of patrons - if you could not accommodate my reservation don’t call insisting I confirm, call and apologize and give me 6 hours to make alternate plans. Deplorable! This was not only a first but a last - I will never give this establishment my business again. But then again a place that pulls this stunt obviously does not care.
Although she proficiently ran through the specials, our server had limited social skills, and was notably unfriendly. One of our water glasses had a large chip out of the lip, she acted as though it were an inconvenience for her to replace. She poured different wine into our existing wine glasses. Made no effort to see how things were going with our meal, and seemed offput that we were sharing mains. In a small intimate space such as The Local, the service needs to be somewhat warm to match the ambience, otherwise it is too noticeably mismatched and affects a patron's experience too much.
I liked the place. The food was good but not amazing, considering the prices. The service could have been better and the restaurant was very hot, and it was very cold outside...
A fabulous dinner with some the best pasta dishes we've ever had. Friendly and welcoming staff.
An absolute top drawer dining experience.
Never disappoints. We're in the neighborhood and this is a regular go to for us. Great food, locally sourced, lovely staff and owners.
Magnificent experience. Award-winning tomatoes from their own farm, homemade gnocchi some of the best we’ve ever had!
Food was unfortunately underwhelming. Was “fair” overall and gave me no reason to return to the same restaurant in the future.
