Whenever we use Lucca we find the staff so friendly and helpful, and the wide range of freshly prepared Italian food just wonderful. Despite usually being busy, the staff make time to 'look after' you and make sure that everything you need is there for you.

We had a great time there as always - this is our favourite restaurant and has been for several years! The atmosphere was lively and fun and the staff gave us a warm welcome. The service was particularly good on Saturday even though it was really busy and the food was great as always, simple but delicious - thank you Lucca!

Once again a delicious meal at Lucca. The service was attentive but not overbearing. Lucca is cosy and welcoming, it is unpretentious yet the standard of food is consistently excellent. It is always a pleasure to dine at this restaurant, whether with my partner, friends or my young daughter, I always come away satisfied and looking forward to the next visit.

My husband and I love this place! We booked a table for Valentine's Day and the service was wonderful. Despite the busy atmosphere, the staff was friendly and there wasn't a long wait for the delicious food. They were very helpful in getting a high chair and bringing out our toddler's meal as soon as it was ready, so she didn't have to wait long. We also requested a table downstairs, as my husband has mobility difficulties. They provided us a great table, not far from the door and no steps required and plenty of room to store his walking sticks. I would recommend Lucca to my friends and family, anytime.

Excellent meal good starter plate of cold meats and bread and then pasta and pizza of the day for our party of 4. Good service and at the end of meal the staff still had time to let us have quick inspection and talk through the workings of the wood burning oven. All made for enjoyable evening. Restaurant was busy on Sunday evening and we will visit again soon.

We booked for a Friday night having heard of it as we very much like the Mistley Thorn which is another of their food outlets. Ambience was good and restaurant is so much bigger than it looks from the front. We were seated and served promptly (we had an early sitting). The shared platter starter was good, it was one of our pizzas which let the side down. Husband just didn't like his, far too salty and he left a third of his. Mine was ok my daughter didn't like her base (I realise these are cooked in a wood oven). Decided against dessert, at over £5 for ice-cream we thought the dessert prices steep - my daughter was ordering from the children's set menu so was served the vanilla ice-cream she had requested. It was just that, one scoop of vanilla, no fruit, wafer or coulis - she was disappointed. We happened to know the party on the next table who were seated before us however, we were served our starters before them (they asked if we'd pre ordered). We watched as they were served their mains - there was over a five minute delay from the first main being served and the last person having theirs put in front of them - not good - there were only 7 of them. Would we go again? I don't think so which is a shame as we much prefer to support independent businesses however we shall return to the Mistley Thorn.

This was my first visit to Lucca Enoteca and certainly won't be my last. I took my sister for lunch as a birthday treat on Saturday 2nd January and immediately felt comfortable with the lovely atmosphere. The staff were all extremely friendly and attentive and there was a steady flow of happy customers dining there ranging from couples, young families and larger groups. The service was prompt without being rushed and the food was excellent. The mushroom starter was delicious and the pizza was the best i've ever eaten! An absolute must for all diners and especially pizza lovers.

We have previously eaten at Lucca a number of times and always been very impressed. This time was very different, for a number of reasons. Prices have gone up - £6.30 for an Aperol Spritz cocktail is ridiculous considering the price in central London is below £6. Worse than that, both were made using slightly flat Prosecco! Prawn/Calamari starter had only two prawns and was overwhelmed by the calamari - it was also pretty bland. Mussels starter tasted really odd. Pizza main course and desert were really good as usual. Service was poor with salads ordered as starters not arriving and having to be asked for. Also other items being forgotten eg coffees and again having to be asked for. We were a large family group and on the day it didn't seem worth complaining as overall the meal was just about acceptable. However, it certainly didn't delight and was a lot of money for an average experience.

I eat here regularly but have not written a review in the past. I am usually accompanied by my six year old daughter when visiting. She loves the food from the kids menu and the fact she is always given crayons and a colouring sheet to occupy her creative mind between courses. I like the range of authentic Italian dishes on offer, the pizza and pasta dishes are always delicious and made using high quality ingredients. Desserts are good and include a mix of English and Italian. This place has a laid back vibe but the service is always friendly and attentive. I thoroughly recommend to all lovers of Italian food.

I've been here a few times with my family, which includes hungry teenagers. The pizza choice is excellent and the pasta choice is good - everything tastes very fresh. Service is friendly - sometimes a little slow on a busy Sunday. My only minor niggle on this visit was the desserts. My teenagers/young adults chose the ice cream and it was over £5 for 3 very small boules. I thought this a bit unimaginative and overpriced. But we will happily go back - this restaurant has a great atmosphere and is very good value for casual dining.

A recent lunch was all you could hope for in a local, independent restaurant. Extensive main menu with interesting and varied dishes of the day, brilliantly cooked and served at a temperature to show the dishes had not waited long to get from kitchen to diner. The service was impeccable throughout, with a friendly and unobtrusive approach that does not involve a mid-meal interruption to ensure all is OK. Reassuring that such places can exist to rival the corporate chain restaurants and it clearly fulfils a great need when judged by the popularity of the place when we visited.

Service is exceptional - very attentive and yet laidback so you feel completely comfortable throughout. Nothing you ask for is too much trouble and the quality of the ingredients and freshness of the food is second to none. I have a group of friends who all eat here regularly too and whatever dish they pick, there is never a complaint. I can't find a single flaw and always look forward to returning. This was out first visit to Lucca but it won't be the last. We went with our daughter and two grandchildren aged 11 and 9 years. We all enjoyed excellent food served by friendly, efficient staff in a lovely relaxed atmosphere. Highly recommended.

We took our two children here to celebrate our eldest child's GCSE results. There was plenty of choice for all of us and there was not a crumb left. Two of us had pizza,one had calzone and my daughter had pasta, all were delicious. Dessert was also good although I was a little disappointed to be charged the same amount for one scoop of gelato as they charge for three.£5.40 seems a little steep to me but on the whole the evening was lovely.

Arrived to be told our table was next to the front door with people standing waiting for their take away,changed with gratitude straight away to upstairs-good service.Seated and given menu and waitress walked away ! come back ten mins later and asked for our order ! when i asked why she did not offer us a drink whilst we chose our food her reply was 'i was making coffee' , really thats nice ! Ordered mussels as starters only to be told they didn't have any-should have been told this when we sat down(if the waitress had bothered to talk to us) Food was very good as always , when the bill arrived and i was asked about the service i replied no it was not satisfactory , the waitress automatically deduced that this was due to them not having any mussels for starters,then entertained us with a story so fabulous concerning the whole of the UK was in a mussel drought and no other restaurant had mussels and all were in the same position, bless her little did she know that i had my breakfast at Billingsgate that very morning with fresh shellfish to all to see .At this point we walked away aghast at the supposedly trained staff,to come out with such rubbish to appease. Now this restaurant i have frequented numerous times with parties from two to twenty persons and had no reason to complain , perhaps is it the fact that Lucca may be getting too big in their attitude and pretentiousness and ignoring their run of the mill good loyal customers , i dont know but i do hope not

Was recommended this restaurant by a few friends. Had excellent service and waitresses mentioned they could cater for any toppings on the pizzas. Food was excellent and very quick to get to the table. Decent sized portions and great value for money! Was a great evening for two :)

We've been visiting ths restaurant regularly over the past few years and always enjoy our meal. The food is good, reasonably priced (the Prosecco is £25 but we'll gloss over that) and the service is attentive - even when, as if often the case, they are quite busy.

I go often and have become a pizza addict since visiting Lucca's. I would recommend this restaurant to anyone who has a passion for good pizza with delicious toppings. The atmosphere and staff are great! The wine is always good to and the coffee, well don't miss that either!

Very relaxing, beautiful restaurant, lovely food, good service. I had lunch on Bank Holiday Monday with my daughter, son-in-law and new baby, and we all enjoyed it, even the baby, though obviously she didn't require food. The restaurant was busy, but they coped very well.

Our first visit to Lucca and we were amazed. The food quality was a very very high standard. The service was just as good. The timings between courses were spot on. Lively atmosphere a true Mediterranean feel . All for £20 - £35 per head. Amazing value for this level of restaurant. Can't wait to return.

Lucca are always consistent in offering good food in a good atmosphere. They have staff who are attentive and make it an enjoyable evening. Prices are very fair. We feel able to go for a relaxed evening at short notice knowing it is going to be an enjoyable evening.

food was fantastic as always however after our main course our plates were taken and we weren't offered dessert menu, we sat for about half an hour before we got asked if we would like a dessert menu and then after we got them sat for about another 20 minutes with empty glasses and no one came to rake our order I had to go up to the bar to ask for the bill because we had enough of waiting! On our way out the staff were having a chat and polishing cutlery!

Our first visit to this restaurant in the historic centre of Manningtree. A lovely old building, tastefully decorated. Great selection of pizzas and pasta dishes, served in very generous portions. The staff were all friendly and professional. All the food for our table of five was very good and very filling. Cannot wait to return!

The food and drinks menu at Lucca are exemplary. The prices are very reasonable. The well trained staff are extremely friendly and accommodating. My request to have one of the dishes in a slightly different configuration was dealt with efficiently and with smile. It has the feel of a neighbourhood restaurant, yet it welcomes strangers with exactly the same enthusiasm as it does the locals. My two slight reservations are as follows: 1. If the restaurant is busy, the noise levels, especially if one is seated upstairs, can sometimes make conversation difficult. 2. The upstairs room lacks the atmosphere of the ground floor area. where one feels much more a part of things - especially if one can see the pizzas being loaded into the wood-fired oven. Other than this, Lucca is what all neighbourhood eateries should be like, but so seldom are.

Made to feel welcome from the arrival, given plenty of time to make up your mind, given good advice on options and made to feel special. The options on the menu are almost too much but there is something for everyone. A good choice of drink as well so everyone is catered for as far as I could tell. A great experience and will do it again. Highly recommended.

The carbonara was good, as was the Romana pizza and the clams. But the crispy pancetta and spinach salad was unacceptable. The bacon was freezing and had dried-on fat, cooked in the morning. When we asked for some replacement pancetta, it came even worse than before, cold and slimy. We asked to take the salad off the bill, and the waitress agreed and no more was said. We've been to Lucca before and had delicious meals. We thought maybe the standard had slipped because it was lunchtime on the 31st of December? We also had to send a glass of wine back as it was vinegary and had obviously come from a bottle that had been open for a long time.

Visiting Lucca again for an early dinner before going to a concert, we were delighted with the attention we received. The pizzas, cooked in the wood-fired oven, were excellent - as were the other dishes we ordered. It's a happy place and we look forward to our next visit.

Three grandchildren, their Mum and Dad and Grandma and Granddad so Lucca Enoteca had to deliver a variety of meals to suit all tastes and did so with aplomb. Pleasing restaurant with a good ambiance, attentive and courteous staff and very high standard of cooking. Good wine list topped by an excellent Gavi di Gavi. Food came piping hot in a timely manner but not rushed and everyone enjoyed themselves. Rate it highly amongst Italian Restaurants and will certainly visit again

I enjoyed the busy atmosphere and authentic Italian feel of the restaurant. The food was very good but the wait between courses was too long. I was disappointed not to get any information about a possible delay.
