Service and Food were great! Everything from start to finish, we really enjoyed having dinner at Luma.
Always a pleasurable time at Luna. Food is excellent, wait staff are professional, proficient and welcoming. One of my go to restaurants in Toronto.
My dish; pasta with shrimp was underseasoned and far more expensive than what it was worth. My frien said her skate was delicious.
Over priced. Food was good but overpriced for the size of portion.
Appetizers are not very pleasing. Most selections were salads. We ordered warm olives and bread and our waiter insisted to take our order for the main course. Five minutes later, the drinks arrived, the bread arrived without the olives. Two minutes later our main course arrived. We had to send our main courses back as we want to have bread and warm olives first. The manager understood and said we will get fresh main courses. Thirty minutes later, the main course showed up and we think they just kept the main courses warm as they were dried out and not hot at all. As for the olives, we were expecting big olives and yet received very small olives with pits.
Beers were good. But the timing of our meal was terrible. In the end, the food was dry and not hot. Because we were pressed for time, we decided not to send it back but instead decided to eat some of it.
Really enjoyed our meal here. Food was well cooked and service was extremely good. The views of CN Tower are very good for the evening light show. Reasonably priced for Toronto.
Always love my meals at Luma - great wait staff and ambience. Food is great.
Vegetables on every plate were fresh and placed with great attention. spices and sauces were delicious.
Quality of seafood was poor.
Staff was friendly and attentive.
The view from the balcony made for a vibrant and fun Saturday night (avoid if you don't like hearing honking street cars).
Us four ladies were extremely excited to eat here during TIFF. The restaurant is BEAUTIFUL and the south facing window view is stunning - I could look out that window every night. We were a tad bit disappointed with the service however. Our waiter wasn't enthusiastic and failed to introduce himself or even welcome us to the restaurant. In fact, I had to ask him how he was doing which prompted him to ask me... womp womp. The food and wine was delicious, I must say but with a bill of over $350.00, I would expect exceptional service.
Great tasting food, fabulous service and great location with view of city and overlooked by CN tower.
The service was a bit spotty and yet the resto was only about 1/2 full. I had business dinners there for other TIFF dinner meetings in past years and I remember the ambience being classy and the music subdued. This time the music got louder and more raucous as the evening unfolded and it became a struggle to have a proper conversation. We were also seated very close to a loud party of eight. In hindsight I should have requested a different table. But I think that is also on the Maitre 'D to spot 4 women wearing TIFF badges and realized it was a business dinner. Two other things that were slightly off putting is the person bringing the meals to us got all 4 of the orders messed up; just at the table as in wrong plate to wrong person. The other is that our waiter referred to the "skate' fish as a 'bottom feeder'. Not the most appetizing description.....But the food was amazing.
Had an exceptional hanger steak. Delicious potato galley. Service was friendly and fast.
We have eaten at Luma several times before and have always liked the food, the service and the atmosphere - even though at times it gets a bit noisy with the music; I suppose the younger crowd prefers the noise. In any case, one can still carry on a conversation.
This time we visited after catching a TIFF movie. It also happened to be my wife's birthday. We were greeted very warmly and seated very quickly. Our waiter was new at the job but performed quite well. What can I say, the food was good as usual. The tuna appetizer was wonderful. My wife really appreciated the plate of sweets presented to her with the chocolate "Happy Birthday" written on the tray.
Very nice restaurant for casual/formal lunch, dinner. Recommend it.
The trout bowl was amazing!
TIFF! Great spot for dinner while attending the festival
Excellent food and service. Got us in and out before our TiFF film. Thanks!
Great food and awesome service. Patio had a nice view of the "hubub" on King Street.
Food was excellent, service started out well, but declined as time went on. Multiple different servers.
Same waitress as last time- she knows her stuff but asked us re our orders multiple times and frankly interrupted us constantly. Not once did she let the person she was interrupting complete their sentence. For this reason i can not recommend to someone else. Same experience twice.
Also not a busy night but they jacked the music up too far.
Too bad, it used to be a go to place for me.
Have been to Luma a few times in the past and was very happy with the whole experience. This time ,not so much. We ate early as we were headed to a show so it was certainly quiet and a calm atmosphere. We had a lovely waitress who was very helpful and made sure we were able to leave at the time we requested. However the food this time was very disappointing, perhaps a new chef? I had raves about this restaurant to my daughter and thought I was treating her to a lovely meal but this was not the case. Not sure I will return again which is a shame as the restaurant itself is lovely.
We've been to Luma on several occasions over the years and have always very much enjoyed our meal and the ambiance. I made reservations on this particular day to celebrate our anniversary prior to going to the theatre.
Although the server was exceptional and we both enjoyed our meals...I have to admit I was very disappointed that the once stunning restaurant is worn. The tables (no table cloths) are chipped, scratched and in some case damaged and should have already been replaced. The banquettes require recovering and the entire restaurant needs to be polished-up, including the restrooms that were not to my standard of clean/cared for.
I'm disappointed that an O&B restaurant in such a fantastic location, with a fabulous view isn't of the standard it once was.
Have been here seversl times. Great food and excellent service. We had a theatre engagement afterward and they managed the time bettet than we did. Haf a great leasurly meal and still made it on time.
Wonderful dining experience; great food and friendly staff!
Our first time at Luma and it won't be our last time. Wonderful atmosphere. Great service by Meaghan H. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and gave us some tasty recommendations on our meal and on dessert! Very memorable experience.
Service was excellent and our meals, two, were very different yet both excellent with very nice presentation.
Wine (Biff's Juicy Red) good, asparagus & greens salad with crispy egg excellent, ginger carrot soup rather spicy for my wife's palate, trout with sauce/lemon potatoes/blackened rapini excellent as was the chicken dish my wife ordered. Cheese plate with honey selection that I ordered for dessert was quite tasty but ancillary bread far too thin and just fell apart, making eating messy. All portions were relatively small but fine for older diners and multi-course diners not wishing to feel bloated after a meal. Desert selection sounded good but I ordered the cheese plate rather than pound back a bunch of sugar in front of her (my wife is diabetic and the cheese plate appeared to be the only choice close to diabetic-friendly - hint- friendly options exist out there). Coffee and latte were fine. Service was timely, attentive so we were not rushed to meet our 8pm show. Was a Thursday night so only about 10 diners between 6-7:15 pm. Bar/balcony looked busy.
Luma has never been disappointing with a pleasant setting and a creative and eclectic menu. The menu changes often which makes a return visit more interesting. It is located near many theatres both for film and for stage productions so it is a great pre-show or post-show spot. Not inexpensive but worth it.
It was a fantastic experience. Good food, attentive service and very good wine recommendations
Met a friend for dinner after work. Server was very attentive and knew the menu well. Recommendations on food choices were most welcome and we enjoyed our meals. Would recommend for dinner or lunch.
I love this restaurant! Staff are friendly, managers are kind and the martinis are fantastic!
Hidden away on the second floor of the Tiff Building, the restaurant was new to us. Very handily located for theatre land. Our server, Meaghan, was charming and guided us through the menu while we sipped Negroni specials. The food was cooked to perfection and beautifully presented. All in all a great evening. Happy to recommend Luma to others.
The views of bustling King St and CN Tower were a treat. Our servers were very friendly and attentive. Every single bite of the seared tuna was heavenly as was the charred cauliflower, and the presentation was a feast for the eyes! If we lived in Toronto, we'd have to visit often!
I was at the restaurant and checked in. Open table sent me an email saying I wasn’t there which was an error. I have my receipt to prove it.
Service was excellent, location and ambience were very nice, but hubby did not enjoy his meal...the lamb shank did not have alot of flavour.
Always a great combination of tastes and textures in the food here. Vegetables never just confined to small, predictable supporting roles. Steelhead trout was moist and flavourful, with lots of textural contrast on the plate. Portion size left room for a delicious lemon dessert.
Excellent, attentive, and sociable servers
Wonderful food and presentation.
The cocktails food was excellent. Our server Kevin was amazing and took great care of us all evening.
Booked a table for our group of 6 last minute and we weren't disappointed. The food and drink were delicious and the setting very comfortable. Service was friendly but a tad slow even though the restaurant wasn't crowded. Still, I would definitely go back and recommend LUMA to anyone looking for fine dining in a relaxed, friendly environment.
The lady at the door make a mess with my reservation. 30 min to be seated. It is an expensive restaurant for the food they serve. Ambiance is ok. Manager apologize for the confusion at the entrance.
