Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca
The food is excellent. But because of the hardwood floors and large windows the acoustics make every sharp sound ping around the room times a thousand. There was a large group and two very “festive” gentlemen nearby us upstairs and we had to strain to hear our own conversation. Also, though the food was exceptional we waited quite a long time for our pasta. Since my associate didn’t get a starter it became awkwardly long.
Amazing food & impeccable service. The ambience on the first floor is a little formal & too stiff - downstairs is a lot nicer ...
Sehr gutes italienisches Resto mit ausgezeichneter Weinkarte. Authentisches Ambiente. Italienische Speisen in bester Tradition. Persönlicher Service. Bravo!
A charming mix of old and new decor. The food was excellent. We both had the halibut special and it was to die for. Service was great.
Always great food
We were here 20 years ago when it was Villa de Lupo and fairly new. All these years later we once again dined at the updated version.
Although the surrounding area has changed dramatically, the good news is that Lupo has not lost their stride.
The decor is much more casual but overall they have aged like a fine wine.
The food was amazing and service was great. Great menu and the wine list is awesome.
When in Vancouver and you want to treat yourself or celebrate a special occasion.
Lupo is a great choice.
I was surprised by how expensive the meal was. The standard of the food was very good, and I think that my criticism is that the venue isn't quite as smart as the menu pricing and quality of food might suggest.
The decor is a little tired, and although some of the tables had table cloths I felt that overall the room lacked the five star feel that the food, (especially at that price), deserved.
Amazing meal and great restaurant. We ordered the cod special and the beef loin special as well as the Burrata salad. Had a glass of the Riesling and Moscato. Sat by the window and enjoyed the view onto Hamilton St. Had a good server and pleasant meal.
A hidden gem of a restaurant, if we hadn’t looked it up we wouldn’t have chosen this one from the street. The interior has a lovely atmosphere suitable for a special occasion or for just a very nice meal. The food was delicious and definitely not something I could rustle up at home. We weren’t sure how many dishes to order from the menu which had entrees, pasta then main course. The waiter Salvatore was really friendly and genuinely interested in looking after us, he stopped us from over-ordering (we each ordered an entree followed by another dish). We had a really special evening here.
A little pricey and as a foodie we find it a little ridiculous when restaurants especially pricey ones charge you for bread. We are finding this more and more and think it is a little tacky. Appetizers and desserts were delicious. My husband having been to bologna is fussy when it comes to bolognese sauce. SO it wasn't his favourite the "Penne bolgonese" and I had 2 appetizers for my meal. A prawn special, wasn't a huge fan of the sauce but the prawns were delicious and plenty. Ceasar salad had a little too much dressing but lots of fresh parmiganna added squeeze of lemon and it was good. Service was top notch, very attentive and the old house it is located in makes it a very quaint venue for a restaurant. I would recommend it to others that don't mind spending money for good food and next time I will order a pasta dish. :)
I hadn’t been here in years and thought I would book it for a nice dinner with some girlfriends, poor choice! The food was inconsistent, three of us got the same pasta and one was full of pasta water at the bottom to the point it was almost soup and my friend’s $42 halibut was extremely over cooked. We all could have looked past these disappointments if the service was good, unfortunately it was probably the worst service I’ve ever received at a restaurant. The main waiter appeared cranky right off the get go, no smile, terse and dismissive. We had to ask to order wine and have more water. When my friend finished a glass of wine, it was taken away and she was not asked if she’d like another (which she did, but didn’t bother). I was not drinking and at one point waited so long to get my water filled that I ended up pulling out my own water bottle to refill my glass. It was overall a very unenjoyable experience and the five of us will never return.
Salmon was off and inedible but everything else was good
This restaurant is consistently excellent
Told manager they should have a Michelin star! Overall a great dining experience.
A bit loud as the tables were right next to each other. Ruined the conversation with my girlfriend a little bit.
Truffle oil fettuccine was great though. Cheese dish was a bit lacking. Overall not overly impressed, meal was okay.
Alles bestens! Tolles Essen, guter Service
First time dining at Lupo and will definitely be back. Excellent service, good ambience and charming location. Most importantly, the food was incredible. The Burrata starter was delicious. It was also the best gluten free pasta I’ve had, ever!
Fast service and very nice food with a good wine selection to accompany the menu. We are from Norway and speak fluent English , I am a native English speaker, but the waiter appeared to need to embellish the descriptions of the food and especially the specials, to a point where it was difficult for a non native speaker, or possibly a native speaker to understand what was on offer. He appeared more focused on his presentation than the customers’ understanding.
Simply fantastic. The special pasta enjoy!
Traveling and found this place. Food was very pleasant and nice service.
An old home was converted to a restaurant. Looking for a good reliable Italian restaurant and we found it.
Amazing wine selection. Pastas were perfect al dente. The lamb shank was tender and perfectly seasoned.
As usual Lupo doesn’t disappoint. In our group of 5, this was a first time for 2 of us. They also thought it was exceptional. I always have to have the burrata appetizer. The smear on the plate was different than I have had before. Didn’t care for the smear but my husband liked it. My husband’s carpaccio was excellent. I had the pork chop which was mouthwatering delicious. My husband had the sable fish special which he enjoyed. We also tasted the seafood special lemon pasta with lobster which was fabulous. I’m just looking forward to the next opportunity we are in Vancouver for an event so we can go back to Lupo
My husband & I had a great dinner, there was a good variety on the menu. We had our PADS dog with us so we were very happy with being tucked in a corner where it wasn't too busy although she slept under the table the whole time. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable and I look forward to going back.
Restaurant was very full and noisy, because most people were going to the Paul McCartney concert. I know the place can be much more intimate and quiet on regular weekday evening.
Starter was wagyu beef carpaccio which was truly amazing. Mains were a variety of pastas, lamb shank and salmon. All were innovative in terms of ingredients and taste. Definitely done with flair. Service was attentive in an intimate setting. Lots to love at this restaurant.
I went with my girlfriend and her colleague and husband for a Friday night dinner. The restaurant is quite elegant, in an old home and on two floors. The service was exemplary. The Burrata salad was delicious but not much greens.I was disappointed with my lamb shank which although very tender did not have much flavor. The accompanying cheese risotto was very tasty, however. My friends enjoyed all of their pastas. We were too full for dessert. Their wine selection was excellent and prices ok. Given all of the great food in Vancouver, however, I probably would not go back to this place, although I think it was good for a romantic dinner in which ambiance is important.
Excellent food and service. Street parking or paid right across the street.
Just as expected. My fave in Vancouver.
Great food!! Service and ambiance was exceptional. We would definitely go again for any special occasion!!!
As always the food absolutely Lupo!!! Always keeps us thinking of the next time we visit. The service five star as one would expect.
We came here due to high reviews from yelp and google. However, their day must’ve been off. The pasta was slimy with the rabbit ragout. The lamb shank lacked the depth in flavour, and was also very salty.
The wagyu carpaccio was bland....
Just a disappointment.
Birthday not acknowledged and poor quality food
Really good food and service!we will come here again!
Pretty decent food. 26 bucks for a small plate of meat and pickled mini veg. Steak was great but zero seasoning. Took us half an hour to get our bill and pay. Our server was very kind and knowledgable.
Great meal! Great staff! Always can count on Lupo!
We really enjoyed Lupo. Ate there twice during a one-week stay in Vancouver. The food was excellent. The venue in an historic victorian home was charming. Service was excellent.
The food was excellent. Several regular menu choices, and interesting specials. Service was excellent in every respect.
A pre-concert meal that left us both completely satiated but certainly wanting to return again soon! The salads were divine and the pasta impeccable. I have always enjoyed the food at Lupo and once again I was overwhelmed with the quality and taste of the offerings. The beet salad was incredible and the fettuccini with prosciutto and asparagus was wonderful. The service was excellent as always. I can’t wait to go back!
We were extremely disappointed in the service . Waiter switched us off to someone else, who was a server, so he could pay more attention to a table of eight. Neither waiter paid us attention. Plates left on the table that I had to clear personally. There was no table cloth, unlike others, so water and crumbs collected and are not wiped off. I had to use the bread napkin to wipe down the table between courses. The food was very nice, above average, but not exceptional. Ambiance was above average. I would not recommend.
