Lupo Restaurant & Vinoteca
Outstanding. Ambiance, service, food quality - all excellent right from the beginning of entering the front door. Also, much appreciate the ability of Lupo to extend the fixed menu to our group of 6 as it is normally offered for groups of 8. My staff loved Lupo and it was great to have our staff Christmas dinner there. We will all be back!
The Fettucini with Black Truffles...best thing I have ever eaten!
Birthday dinner before The Tenors concert at Queen Elizabeth Theatre. Service was impeccable and menu recommendations were amazing!!! One of the best meals I have ever had😊👍
Simply amazing! Hands down the BEST Italian I've ever had! My only regret is that I've lived in Vancouver over 20 years and didn't go sooner! Will be frequenting this place from now on.
Service was excellent. Food was delicious. Ambiance was great.
Excellent food and wine pairing. Beautiful place and home feel.
Delicious food and the service was great. The only.tbibhs that wasn't 5 starts we're the desserts. They took quite a bit to get to us and we were a bit disappointed in them. The tart was a baked a bit longer cause it was a darker brown on top and hard to cut through. The torte was also really hard to cut through and very much just one flavor. Aside from that the food was sooo good!
Always delicious. Fresh made pasta. Outstanding truffles only in season right now. Fabulous meal
Always our favourite restaurant and it didn’t disappoint this time. Service is outstanding and the specials are always fantastic. The truffle fettuccine is the best.
Lupo has been top of our list for favourite resturant in Vancouver for years now. Never disappoints. In a lovely old home, central downtown location. Quiet ambiance, white table cloths, impeccably trained staff, delicious Italian food. My husband always hopes sable fish will be the special & I hope the ravioli!
OMG...the Black Truffle Fettucini...best thing I have ever eaten!!
Also service was impeccable, atmosphere very relaxing...overall, I can't wait to be back!
Server described the specials way too fast it was impossible to keep up.. she was an older woman.. but she talked too fast she should definitely slow down.
There was a very long gap between starter and main course. The server attributed it to me ordering the veal chop medium instead of medium rare, but I doubt that was the reason, because when the veal was served it was actually lukewarm. My girlfriend had the rack of lamb which was a much better dish.
Wine selection with the sommelier was excellent though and it made up for the substandard food service
Cozy house like setting with a great wine list. Pasta is Superb. Service is first rate. I have never had anything but a spectacular dish and have hosted dinners with more than 18 people.
We came in at 7:05pm and I mentioned to our waiter that we will be going to a concert after so we will need to leave by 8:45-ish. She said no problem. They serve us at 8:20pm!!! It took forever! (Which wouldn't have been a problem except today we were short of time and we let the restaurant know about it in advance)
I had Veal Porterhouse and , boy, was it a workout! Both to cut it and to chew! The second finger on my left hand was literary hurting from trying to hold this piece of meat with my fork while I was trying to cut it... Very unexpected and disappointing!
My daughter had the same dish , but was fairly ok with it. The waiter who was attending our table only asked my daughter about the dish, and never made eye contact with me so I had no chance to say anything about my experience. She asked one person (the youngest in the group of 4) and left right away! I could have yelled in the attempt to get her attention, of course, but that would have ruined the experience for everyone else.
I had been to this restaurant for several times, and never had been disappointed with the food. Unfortunately, I had a very bad experience today!
The olive oil that came with the bread was very plain - no flavor or taste or aroma.
It was also way too noisy and very crowded for the fine restaurant.
The food was absolutely incredible! My girlfriend and I loved how flavourful it was. We really enjoyed the environment and we were especially fond of our server. Matthew made us feel welcomed and appreciated for choosing to have our special night at Lupo!
This restaurant is very expensive (20$ for 3 meatballs??) but our waiter was very knowledgeable and experienced. I don't remember his name unfortunately, but we were there on Friday November 22nd at 5pm on the top floor. Hopefully this helps you identify the server so he can be recognized for his hard work! The ambiance is lovely, the food was very good and the service was excellent. We will be returning!
The food was amazing and really liked the environment! Def. Coming back here!
Amazing experience! I came in for my birthday and Mo went above and beyond and nothing was too much. Mo chose each course for us and they were all absolutely perfect and timed perfectly. I loved everything about this visit. Thank you so much!
Great restaurant and great food. very cozy and very attentive staff. We will return.
Amazing meal and experience
We love going to this restaurant as I love old homes converted to a great restaurant.
Best Italian restaurant in Vancouver!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The food was good, as was the service but the noise level made it impossible to converse. Why is it that no one speaks without yelling? Because that is the only way to be heard? Something is terribly wrong when you cannot enjoy a conversation with your guests even though you are paying premium prices. We all had headaches and could hardly wait to get out of there. The reviews stated that the noise level was good. That was a brazen lie. Too bad.
Very cozy location with excellent pastas. The specials are very unique (and equally tasty)! Would certainly come again.
Everything was amazing as it always is!
I would recommend having a tasting menu or share few small plates.
This was the second time I have eaten at Lupo in the last 2 weeks. The appies are OUTSTANDING. We asked for a wine recommendation around $80 and the waiter said he found a better bottle but would give it to us at the same price but in fact we were charged $92. The pasta’s were all mediocre and one guest had to return theirs as it was too salty which was taken off the bill.
Food is always good at Lupo. White truffle pasta is brilliant. Desserts are one of the best in Greater Vancouver Area.
Lupo is our go to place whenever we come to Vancouver, and has been now for over 15 years. It's been two years since we were lat there, and I am pleased to say it is still nothing short of outstanding.
The service is always friendly, gracious and helpful, from offering thoughts about your indecision about choices on the menus, so always being there when the water glass is getting low, the wine glass is getting low, or you're just finishing up a course.
The wine selection is awesome. Some (but not too many) very nice choices across varietal and price range with great selection from Italy or BC, its easy to find a great wine at any price point.
The food is simply amazing. Simple, yet perfectly composed dishes where no ingredient is there just to look good or tick off a latest trend checklist. Beautifully balanced flavors and fun dishes to explore new ways to enjoy components we love or maybe just like, but now love because of how they've been presented to us.
I could detail the amazing dishes we shared and enjoyed, but that would do a disservice to all the dishes we didn't choose and wish we could go back and try the next night. And that's after our having actually gone two nights in a row. There are still a lot of choices I would like to try. We're already planning our next visit in two months, and Lupo will be our place to eat every night we are there.
Sure, there are dozens of great restaurants in Vancouver. But with easy walking distance form our favorite hotel, and a record of never having made even a slight misstep in dishes or service, we'll always go back to Lupo.
And it doesn't hurt that even after having not been there for two years, the owners still stopped at our table to welcome us back like old friends. We feel like this is home. If only our home had such a stellar chef and support staff.
Too 3 seafood meals I Have ever had. The salmon could not have been cooked any better. Great service. The only complaint I would have is that the tables are a little too close together.
A Jewel in the Downtown : Beautiful dining rooms (3) to choose from . Such unique experiences in each of these parts of the House. It seemed we were all in our own little world enjoying an Italian dinner with friends or a romantic evening with our partner. We look forward to bringing friends and exploring the other parts of the home. Cheers , Paul & Jan
Always a pleasure to dine at Lupo, the waiter Matt was excellent, my spinach ravioli were very good and we had a nice bottle of Zenato Amarone that I strongly recommend
The food here was delicious and well presented, my partner and I were celebrating his new job and were well placed to have an intimate conversation.
Dinner a Lupo's is our 'date night' at the end of a few busy days in Vancouver a couple of times a year. The service is unobtrusive and impeccable. The food is consistently beautifully presented and delicious. It is a long narrow restaurant in a beautiful former house and when full can be noisy. We love being able to book on line.
Wonderful time great food great atmosphere
Great food !!!
First time trying Lupo and loved it!
House setting is lovely and it’s quiet so you can actually enjoy a dinner conversation.
Food was amazing and good wine list too.
Not a pretentious or stuffy atmosphere at all, very friendly, relaxed but attentive service.
Will definitely return.
The setting is lovely. We were delighted with the food and Mo was excellent, professional and very witty.
We has a wonderful meal however the table next to us should not have been servved more alcohol. They were loud rude and honestly wasted. They fell down the stairs inside the restaurant and outside the restaurant. It was special evening for my wife who just became a Canadian. I am surprised that sort of behavior would be allowed in a high end restaurant.
We always try and get here when we come to Vancouver! A heritage house turned restaurant, it has such a nice vibe when you are tired of the new wave slick restaurants (not that there isn’t room for Cactus Club types when you are in the mood!) Food has always been good. My first dish there ever was a sablefish that was so silky and sweet I couldn’t believe it! Servers have been top notch, and from what I gather, once they are hired, they stick around as long as they can, and seem genuinely happy to work there. We are red wine drinkers, and have never been steered wrong with their recommendations, and more impressive, the price point has not been a factor from what we have tried based on their reviews!
A great all round place when you want something fun, yet possibly romantic, but not snooty!
