                                                                          It’s a wonderful place I got referred to! It didn’t disappoint! Everything was perfect - the meals, the service, the music, the drinks, fantastic Italian wines, the desserts! Highly recommended! I am definitely going back with my love ones!

                                                                          We enjoyed the excellent food and service presented by the clearly hard working and friendly team. We had mixed feelings, however, about the venue for our romantic date night, due to the small rooms and close tables in the lovely converted historical house. A very loud and boozy table of four right beside us made conversation difficult and was a constant distraction. Not the fault of the restaurant or staff at all, as that sort of table generates much more revenue. But a consideration when thinking about the occasion you may be celebrating.

                                                                          We've been patronizing this restaurant for 3 decades since it was Villa del Lupo and it remains a favorite of ours, even after ownership changed. Tonight, the food was (as usual) very good from appetizers through to main courses and dessert - dishes were plated well, products were fresh and high quality, and enjoyable. [Limited dessert options for individuals with nut allergies]. Tonight, however, our table unanimously felt the service was fair at best. Not only was the timing off, but we found the service tense and pretentious. It was almost as if the restaurant (front end) was trying to portray itself as a Michelin restaurant - but had too many hiccoughs and couldn't stick the landings. As additional examples (aside from the stiff & off-tempo service), we ordered cocktails - our appetizers arrived before we finished our drinks - not ideal. We ordered a mid-course of pasta bolognese (ie to be served after the appetizers and before the main course) - instead it came with the main courses (which arrived very soon after the appetizers were removed from the table. There was no time to relax in between courses. A palate cleanser (aside from water) would have been ideal. I also inquired about two different wines - one moderate, one higher price point. The Som arrived with a bottle of barbaresco, did not inform of the price, uncorked and poured. It was a fine choice, but we should have been informed of the price before seeing it on the bill. Our plates were removed at different times, a serving practice typical of places like Earl's. Overall, we enjoyed the food but walked away looking at each other asking - what was that supposed to be?
