Friendly service. Loved the ambiance. Our server was very friendly and food was very fresh. There presentation of food was excellent.
Read the reviews and agree 100% with the positive ones, and am scratching my head about the negative. French level quality with prices to match but well worth it. Baltimore could use more restaurants like this but wonder if market will support. I hope so.
Wonderful service from the moment we arrived. Both Valet and Greeter met us and opened our doors on either side. Service was wonderful. We requested a different table in the courtyard and we were graciously accommodated. Food was superb - my duck breast was out of this world and the desert with olive oil cake and apricot sorbet was the best I think I've ever had anywhere. The other 3 in our party we're equally blown away by their food! Excellent white wines. Bill for 4 was $450 with drinks and tip was was well worth it. Our valet had our cars waiting. We absolutely loved the evening! Felt like being in Florence!!
As perfect a dining experience as one can imagine. Flawless. Scrumptious. Expensive but nothing else even approaches the complete dining experience in Baltimore and as good as the best I have ever had in the US and abroad. Cannot wait for the next special occasion to splurge again!
A Baltimore gem and a new favorite! Such attention to detail to everything -- from the service to the food to the ambiance -- made the experience one to remember. Highly recommended!
Our party of five had a memorable experience for the special occasion of a birthday. It could not have been better! Highly recommend!!!
We went to Magdalena for my husband's birthday and it was wonderful. Great food and amazing service. Would definitely recommend Magdalena for any special occasion. They gave us the VIP treatment, for sure.
This was mine and Terri’s 21st anniversary dinner. We ate on the courtyard, the weather was absolutely perfect even after all the rain of recent days, the music was just light enough to be heard but not to overwhelm, and there was a light water feature in the courtyard. The staff were fastidious as would be expected but not overwhelming or bothersome. This was our first trip there, though it won’t be our last. I cannot say what it is like to eat indoors but the courtyard is exquisite!
Great service and food for brunch. Will definitely come back soon. Excellent value.
Always great food and service - perfect for special occasion or just a night out.
We had a great wedding anniversary dinner, impressed by the appearance and taste of the food, and by the courteous, well-trained, and sophisticated host/hostess and wait staff.
Great meal at the bar. Nick was very personable and gave excellent recommendations. Great drinks!
While food continues to be extraordinary, service needs improvement. I brought a very special guest from abroad for a dinner with a party of 8. While I had called to change the reservation from 6 to 7, our table was still set for 6. Only four menus were brought to the table at first. Our waiter came to ask about drinks and wine three times, but never brought menus. He only realized 1/2 of our table didn't have menus 30 minutes into our dinner. Overall, service was just painfully and excruciatingly slow. Then, we had a 30 minute additional wait to get our cars. I truly miss the impeccable service of a Peruvian waiter who attended our table in my previous visits to Magdalena.
Lovely dining experience. Wonderful cuisine & nice variety. Terrific service in a gorgeous setting.
Magdalena was absolutely divine and did not disappoint!
Firstly, it is in a lovely building with very tasteful and subdued decor.
All of the food was excellent, but the tomato salad was a standout as was the ceviche included in the raw shellfish platter.
Our server, Jenn, was outstanding. She made some great recommendations and the restaurant was very accommodating regarding my mum's celiac disease; they bake gluten-free bread on-site.
It's a little pricey for everyday dining, so I am looking forward to going back to the bar just for a drink and a bar snack or for brunch on the outdoor terrace.
I cannot recommend Magdalena enough. This was a very special dinner.
This is a great restaurant. The ambience and service are superb.
The food is very fresh and exciting. Highly recommended.
This was our first visit to Magdalena's. We went for our 44th wedding anniversary. The staff could not have been more friendly. My husband said the filet was the best he has ever had. Worth its price tag of $50! I was disappointed that they were out of the rockfish but the scallops were very good.
We had a wonderful experience dining at the Magdalena. There was valet parking, our hostess was great. Our dining experience, from the wine to the dessert were delectable. We even had an unexpected tour of the historic hotel. We'll definitely come back.
Very expensive but high quality. Not as good as Charleston. Delicious Italian homemade bread!
I have been dying to try Magdalena, and when I learned they were now serving brunch, I knew I simply HAD to go. WOW, it did not disappoint. The ambiance of the back courtyard is incredible. I felt like I had stepped right into a secret garden. The chairs, umbrellas, and tables are gorgeous, and the ivy wall is EVERYTHING. Justin, our waiter, was extremely knowledgeable about the menu, and Mardee was the perfect gentleman, coming to check on us frequently to make sure all our needs were attended to. The food was beyond wonderful- and full of flavor! I cannot wait to go back!
We went for Fathers Day brunch. It was a fixed price menu. We had the duck, shrimp and grits. Service was outstanding. Food was wonderful. Very pricey but okay for a special occasion. Chef was very accommodating for one gluten free person in our party.
Was underwhelmed after hearing so much positive reviews about Magdalena. Salt and pepper soft shell crab was heavy, greasy and lacked the typical salt and black pepper taste. While the corn soup, squash blossom, magret duck breast and halibut were of excellent quality, the presentations and composition of the dishes were uninspired. Standard seasonal combinations that are overpriced due to lack of creativity not quality of ingredients. Cocktails were well crafted, wine list superb. The service, while fully staffed, needs refinement, one of our initial servers did not know exactly what all ingredients of the amuse was and served the gentlemen at our table before our female guests
From the moment we pulled up to the valet stand, the staff took the best of care to make sure the evening from the beginning to the end was a success.
The service was incredible as was the food! We had an amazing time and really enjoyed the live music in the courtyard. It is definitely a hidden gem!
Elegant without being snooty. Both courses were beautiful and delicious. I enjoyed the Summer Corn Soup and Leg of Lamb while my companion had the Green Salad and Halibut. Both had a cocktail and I a glass of wine. Coffee finished the meal. Everything was top notch.
Always impressive. On our last visit they had just put risotto on the menu. Clearly the best interpretation of the dish I've ever had. Very good wines by the glass. All in all like a classy experience.
Everyone from the valet to the host to the wait staff and in particular our waitress Jen was very attentive. It made our anniversary celebration all the more special. Food was delicious.
When there is no left overs you know it's good! Beautiful presentation and so delicious.
This was our second visit and it won’t be our last! First of all, the service is incredible. Very few restaurants today have trained their staff to be so on top of everything, from the valet, into the restaurant, all doors are opened, everyone greets you and this same level of care continues until leaving! Next the delicious food, cheers to the chef and pastry chef, crusty warm bread, oysters from the West Coast, Foie Gras with Wellington Vegetables and Halibut. We ate here before our show at the Hippodrome and it was quiet but it was a Wednesday night, just hope this is successful because we love it here!
Excellent food and service in a great environment
Magdalena is our "Cheers" - with real CLASS! Whether we are with family or friends, we are always WITH family and friends. We love the staff - those who have been there from the start, and all who have come on board since then. The food is phenomenal - my oysters, wonderful soups, innovative, perfectly prepared entrees, surprising and wonderful veggie dishes (who knew BUTTERED GREENS meant so much more than wilted kale!?!), great cocktails, plenty of single malts for my husband (<: and always thoughtful and delicious wine pairings.
Please, everybody - treat yourself to a magical date night, family dinner, or special occasion treat, and be prepared to come back again, and again, and again to Magdalena.
PS - We all had luscious leftovers from our latest meal at Magdalena, and an equally delightful smorgasbord for dinner tonight: lamb, lobster, roast chicken, buttered greens(!), potatoes two ways - everything but the oysters, 'cause I ate them all!
Easily, one of Baltimore's best dining destinations. The level of service, the attention to detail, and the deliciousness and creativity of food are unparalleled. We love it here and highly recommend you try it.
The food and service were great. I would definitely recommend this for a date or nice business dinner.
One of the best meals we’ve had in Baltimore.
Delicious meal! Cauliflower soup was my favorite. Beautifully presented. Service was great! Just a little small and I wish there were more individual tables.
Absolutely spectacular. One of Baltimore finest restaurants. Not an off note all night, from service to food to decor. Perfect special occasion meal.
I took my wife to Magdalena’s for Mother’s Day. It was our first time, but certainly will not be our last. Everything about the experience was first rate - from our cocktails to our three course meal. Everything that we each had was expertly prepared. Out waitress was very knowledgeable, friendly and with a great sense of humor. The restaurant’s owners, Ed and Sylvia Brown, came to our table and introduced themselves. We had a wonderful conversation with them. They also set up a tour of the Ivy Hotel for us. We believe this is our “newest favorite” restaurant. Love it!
Incredible service and ambiance - second to none. One of the appetizers and both of the entrees (mahi mahi and NY strip steak) were over-salted. Rather disappointing meal that did not match the service and ambiance or the price of the food.
This was a very nice meal with friends. The menu and wine prices were a bit overpriced. I would come back again at some point.
