Mahony & Sons - Stamps Landing Ratings and Reviews
I had to return the Fries as they were somewhat stale and only warm, but problem was quickly and cheerfully rectified.
Music was too loud for conversation but it was turned down on request.
Overall: Quite satisfactory.
Came for happy hour before a concert and was so impressed with the abundance of patio seating. Also, the west-side portion of their patio is pet-friendly! I brought my dog and leashed him next to the table and server promptly brought him some water (now that's service!)
Small happy hour menu but it's a pretty decent deal: $4-6 for drinks and cheap appies. Their beer and cocktail menu is also substantial but the best part is still the outdoor seating.
Nestled in the marina on a sunny day - you couldn't ask for a better location to hang out and have some drinks!
Finished first round of drinks and appies, wanted to order a second round, no service, after 20 minutes our server appeared she said she was on a break and thought someone else would help us...told her we were ready to leave...
Yes, Mahony's is great. The food is excellent and prices are reasonable.
Lovely to sit outdoors and see the marina and window seats are good if the weather
doesn't enable diners to eat outdoors.
Servers are cheerful and competent. Glad to see the female servers not having to
wear the kilts anymore!
Staff kindly allowed me to park long enough to show visitors the waterfront before dining.
I have never been dissapointed from mahonies.. i love this place.
Outside in the shade, away from the loud music and noise, good service, good food for the buck - definitely recommend. (Parking free but limited, take the False Creek ferry!)
I have been here many times in the past year for all occasions. The clubhouse is my favourite. the dry ribs are also good to nibble on with a beer. All visitors to my place get to go to Mahonys as a treat
Considering how very busy the restaurant was on a beautiful evening, the service was as fast as could be expected. Very friendly service.
Food, service, weather, location, friends, actually everything was great.
We had a blast waitress was really friendly Our friends want to go back next time they visit
I had dinner with a group of friends and the food was tasty (very good fish n chips) and amazing view on a cold & sunny day. The service was poor, our server took a while to clean up the table, did not offer dessert menu, etc...friendly but not experienced & up to speed. We did not like desserts and they have no espresso coffee...but fish n chips & burgers were great & beer too.
Will return for a less rushed occasion, as my girlfriend and I had to run to the Canucks game. Great service with friendly staff, value for money for drinks specials on Sunday and food. Would recommend!
We went for Valentine's Day. My husband and I waited a good 3 minutes by the door for someone to even greet us. We had a reservation. Where we were seated was super bright and loud. When we ordered our appetizer which was the prawn and chorizo it came with 3 prawns and 4 slices of chorizo. Within minutes of receiving our appetizer, our main course arrived. Both of us ordered the striploin. It came doused in luke warm gravy and the mashed potatoes were not really mashed at all. Their choice of vegetables was odd, like half an onion and undercooked peppers. Our wine was the best thing we had there.
My husband and I had been coming here for years, when it was first Monk McQueens and we had been a few times since it has been Mahoney & Son's but we will not be going back there at all ever again. Really sad to see a place with such a great location turn into that. Disappointing.
Mahoney and Sons was our choice for Valentine's Day dinner before a show (Odysseo). The opportunity to book in advance, the friendliness of the staff, the personal service by our waiter Aidean, the happy hour beer, and the meals were all excellent.
Their service was pretty good and food was also good. I like they have a lot of selection of alcohols. Negative points: they do not have enough parking and hard to find to get there (first time).
Food was good but timing was a little off. Not done with the appies when the mains showed up, felt a little rushed.
Very good dining experience . We like to visit here one a month.
A really nice pub with great atmosphere and better than average pub food
A great location with beautiful view of False Creek. We have been to Mahoney and sons each time we stayed in false creek at the Olympic village. We love the entire area and the close proximity to so many craft breweries, eateries and activities.
We've eaten a couple of times at Mahoney's near Canada Place and had decent meals. But this location's food was disappointing. Food was only fair, although the welcoming and sevice were good.
We had a family dinner here and has a great time. Food and beers were great. Nice pub atmosphere with different levels and alcoves. Live music on the loud side due to speakers over many tables But the singer/guitarist was fantastic
Great decor and very reasonable priced. Great service and fun servers.
3 out of 4 dishes were warm to cold. Only one of us receive our food hot. When the waitress asked how everything was - she walked away before she heard our response. Then when she
brought the bill and we told her 3 of the dishes were cold, she said why did you not say so. We thought why did you not hang around to hear our answer.
its been years since I was at this location and took my sister there for her birthday, before attending Bard on the Beach. it was the perfect place to have a nice lunch!
I love what Mahony's has done to update the look of the place.
We had out of town guests, so we chose this restaurant for the great location on the water front. Everyone enjoyed their food - the salads were fresh and the chicken quesadilla was a tasty light lunch.
The only disappointment was our reservation somehow got cancelled at their end and so our Open Table rewards were not put through the system. This is the second time this has happened to us. I did manage to get the points for our recent booking through Open Table.
Overall we enjoyed our experience at Mahoney and Sons- Nice fish/chips and Irish Stew-which was huge lamb shank with mash and veg. Only Negative Calamari chewy. Service was good without being great. If weather is nice it's great to sit on deck for view.
All this place has going for them is the large patio with an amazing view. Great on a hot summer day. Food is just ok and the portions are small compared to similar establishments.
Lucked out with weather. Enjoyed sitting outside.
Ordered beef burger, salmon bugger & quesadilla.
Tasty but small portions.
We enjoyed a fun evening out catching up with friends over drinks and dinner at Mahony's. Unfortunately we had to tolerate extremely poor service. We love the location, the epic patio, and the view. But not much positive can be said for the food or the service. Service stated out poorly when the server only took half of our drink orders then walked away without asking if we were done ordering. She didn't return until about 20 minutes later with drinks for 3 out of 6 people. Getting drinks for the second half of the table took another 20 minutes to arrive after ordering. We had finished our appetisers with the menus still on the table and without our server even asking if we wanted to order dinner. You can go for the view but don't expect good service.
We were! I visited Mahony and Sons last weekend when a friend came into town. We were seated immediately and noticed it fairly empty. After 5 minutes we noticed a server had not come by yet to introduce themselves or get us any water. After a couple more minutes a man was seated next to us and a server immediately came by to pour him some water and get him a drink. She immediately ran in the other direction without looking at us. 15 minutes later I had to grab a server that was walking by letting her know no one had even acknowledged our table. No sorry. No apology. We ordered our drinks and food at the same time. My friend ordered soup and came without a spoon. It took forever for us to find someone again so she could eat and her soup got cold. Again, no apology.
I will not be going back. We all felt disrespected.
Everyone was attentive and the chef even made a second dessert.
Everything was nice except a bit difficult to find parking spot.
Great place to take visitors to our great city. Food was great and wine list met expectations. Friendly and helpful staff.
Great for casual dining and drinks. Service was very good. View is fabulous.
Mahoney and Sons was great! I went for Dine out with a friend and we both enjoyed what we had! I had the Tomato soup which was HUGE and delicious (you could tell it was home made) and then the fish tacos, and vanilla bean ice cream for dessert which was also a huge portion. The server was great. the ambiance was cool and fun there was a bit of irish dancing and music and then a live guitarist setting up for the evening. Very cool! Would be awesome to sit on the patio in the summer!
They had a table set up reserved for us that resembled the size and shape of something you would find at the end of a sofa to rest your drink on. The table was so far in the corner I had could not raise my arm. The restaurant wasn't packed by any means and I had reserved the day previously.
bangers and mash was too salty, too much garlic in the mashed potatoes
Unfortunately when we were there the heat was broken and we were all freezing while eating our meal. I hope they have it fixed the next time we come. Felt sorry for the servers having to go all day with no heat! However inspite of that the service was great and the food was great.
Mistake # 1 - Whatever happened to the views of the downtown and mountains that Monk McQueens was noted for?
Mistake # 2 - Something about the food. I haven't asked my two guests (one from UK), but I had to run to the loo within 30 minutes of leaving the restaurant.
