Save your money and skip. Maybe lunch is better with the view to compensate.
World Class location and Service. Mahalo until we meet again.
Outstanding in every way! The view is the best in Kauai. The food is excellent and the service is impeccable. This is what you expect from fine dining!
Excellent view and wonderful brunch buffet. This is a must do event everytime we visit Kauai.
The terrace in late afternoon with a cocktail waiting for sunset looking at the Napili coast with music playing is the perfect way to wind down. The view cannot be beat.
Both restaurants at the Princeville Resort were our favorites on this vacation. The Makana also serves as their breakfast venue and is a delightful way to start the day and arguably the best breakfast buffet we have had anywhere in the Hawaian islands, an amazing buffet with all the usual hot choices, tropical fruit spread, a cooking station for custom omelets, small ramekins with fish, rice and egg on top, tropical juices, drinking vinegars and Kombucha and much more. The setting is overlooking Hanalei bay and the northernmost spires of the NaPali coast which beautifully catch the morning sun and then the warm glow of the evening sunset. We had dinner there one night and again were delighted with the quality of the fish, salads, and the service. The staff are particularly personable and efficient. Highly recommended.
The view was incredible and the food was amazing. We were there for the New Year’s Eve buffet. Definitely a place for very special occasions!
Have been here many times over the last ten years at the hotel and the restaurant but was disappointed with the quality of the food good but not at the level of the past, service has also suffered since the sale, now no longer the St Regis. Of course the physical setting on the terrace over looking Hanalei Bay and the Nepali coast is easily one of the most spectacular settings anywhere, check the photo
The best thing about the restaurant was the view. We went as hotel guests to celebrate our honeymoon. The food was just okay - my husband had the steak, which he enjoyed. I had the ahi tuna, which was a giant cold steak of tuna with briefly seared sesame seeds. I love tuna rare as well as sushi - but no steak of tuna should ever be cooked like that. It was very cold in the center and the only sear was on the coating. It was difficult to even cut. Our wine was ordered with our appetizers but delivered only after we had finished our entrees. We spent over $250 on a just okay dinner - not great. The service was irregular and inattentive. People who worked there did not seem happy to be there. Strange experience and not recommended.
The service is outstanding! The lady host that welcomes you to the restaurant for breakfast is so sweet and friendly! She is a really special asset to the warm feeling the restaurant has. The food is amazing and the views are the best I’ve ever seen in a restaurant. The rest of the staff is great too! Kevin was our server almost everyday, he is very attentive and detailed oriented. The omelette makers are great too! The view is so amazing that we ate there breakfast and dinner (sunset) during our entire stay. For lunch we tried places in the town.
We had a large party so they sat us inside and the waiter was not so good but the food was very nice.
This was the first night of the new menu for the Princeville Hotel (formerly St Regis). The menu is a Japanese/Hawaiian fusion which sound pretty nice but it wasn’t. The chicken was not cooked thoroughly, and my fish was over cooked. The two steaks where very tasty. Although one was supposed to be medium rare it was more of a medium. The vegetables that you think you are getting are really just a garnish. Overall we really loved the old menu and didn’t love the new one. And it’s quite pricey for what you get.
Food was excellent, view was even better! Went for breakfast and though it was a little pricey, the quality and quantity of fresh selections on the buffet made it worth the drive! View overlooking Hanalei is breathtaking!
One of the best dinners I have ever had celebrated for our anniversary.
One of the best restaurants in Kauai, perhaps even Hawaii. Spectacular setting, phenomenal wine list, and impeccable food.
We had the prix fixed menu, with wine pairings, which every course was well presented and delicious.
Highly recommended, even if you aren’t guests at the hotel.
Beautiful for sunset.
Fabulous food, view and service! We often have had brunch here. This was our first dinner experience. The service is impeccable and they can handle food allergies! All while you enjoy an amazing view. No matter where you are staying on the Island it is worth the trip!! Much quieter than the Beach House with the same excellent food.
Excellent food, cocktails and wine. Very helpful, knowledgeable service. And a spectacular view of Hanalei and environs.
Great food. Great service. Food has to be pricey for that venue. Be prepared to fork over the green for great food.
We had one off the best meals of our lives there. The Manager Dani sabered a Dom Perignon to highlight our 25th anniversary. The food was incredible and the ambience with an occasional shower (nature's blessing) made the evening divine.
Amazing view can’t be beat. Highlight of the trip. Go about sunset time so can have the best of both. The restaurant was kind enough to send a glass a champagne for our anniversary. Service was ok first of all no one ever introduced themselves as our wait person never heard specials we were seated water was delivered and about 4 min later we were asked to place our order Thought that was odd. Secondly I have a dietary restriction so I asked to omit the starch. Turns out my restriction was in the crust of the fish and the sauce. So instead of getting the option to reselect I was served a plain piece of fish with zero sauce or season and white rice. I was so disappointed. If I’d know I would have simply chose again. I ended up asking to order a side dish which I ate as my entree. It really was an amazing view and I’d do it again just disappointed
Food was nice, though not outstanding. View cannot be beat.
Thanks for that wonderful evening, our farewell dinner, enjoying the sunset over Hanalei Bay, with the lovely Lori, the waitress and a comforting atmosphere. Very delicious food and splendid alcool and non-alcool Drinks.
The breakfast buffet will fill you for two meals! Loved trying the fresh juices, smoothies and vinegars - what a great concept! There was everything available - several egg options, local items like loco moco and kalua pig benedicts! Fruit, pastries and charcuterie too! Loved it!
Beautiful setting and good food. Service was excellent. We received a dessert that wasn’t what we expected and they immediately replaced it with another without question.
Food was okay, definitely not worth the prices they are charging.
Came to this restaurant after our wedding in the beach. What a day!! You could ever fully describe the gorgeous view from the makana terrace , it’s breathtaking!!
We went here for breakfast and it was great. We were impressed at how well the buffet was set up. I still am tasting the eggs Benedict that I had that morning. The view was amazing. Drinking your tea as you watch the waves on Hanalei Bay.
We celebrated our31st wedding anniversary there. We had been there 32years ago when we got engaged. We sat outside and were able to watch the sun go down. The service was outstanding and the food delicious. It was a lovely experience and we will do it again the next time we are on the island.
Buffet was pretty good but for the price not on the level of many Vegas buffets. However, the service was outstanding. Our server was exceptional in her attentivenes surpassed only by her personality. We will return simply because of her. Unfortunately, I forgot her name.
My husband and I are on our honeymoon and we had multiple people recommend the breakfast buffet here. It was amazing! Very romantic and so many good choices. The view was incredible and the service was extremely courteous and professional, they even offered to talk our picture. This is a must do if you have the time!
Beautiful setting! I miss the brunch as it used to be. Not many different options now. It’s much more breakfast not brunch.
My husband and I dined here for our 10th anniversary and loved the dinner. Service was attentive and friendly, the view incredible. I had the wine pairing menu and loved every bit of it except for the desert. We had the chocolate stout cake and found it a bit dry and lacking flavor. Still, since we loved everything else it was no big deal. The biggest downside to our visit was that I got over a dozen mosquito bites! I do know it's in the tropics, but I'd hoped being such an upscale property and also being perched on the bluff, that it might be free of the little buggers, but no luck! Definitely dine here, but don't forget to apply your repellant!
Hostess were sweet. Our server Satchel was over sat-we watched him get 5 tables in the span of 10 mins which is too much for any server to still be able to provide quality service that you’d expect at a place this nice. He didn’t read our chit which was our biggest concern as we noted it was our anniversary and we were both also in the hospitality industry. Satchel knew none of these things despite it all being typed up and handed to him-he just didn’t read it. It’s okay though, we only gave him 22%, saved us the extra $40 were we’re going to give him to make it a 35% tip. Also he brought us out the wrong glasses for the wine we brought it-he brought us all purpose whites when we needed flutes for the vintage champagne we brought in to celebrate our anniversary.
Jake the supervisor was awesome, very helpful and talkative.
Everything was great apart from the scallops were not too hot when they arrived at the table.
Worst meal I’ve ever had and a poor representation of St. Regis standards. Crab cake could have been from Long John Silvers, Cesar salad had zero dressing, and where was the cheese in the Mac and cheese? The service was great but yuck!
Delicious, incredible views of the bay, highly recommend for a nice dinner on a nice day
