Lovely decor and atmosphere, friendly and professional service, great food.
Wow. Ordered the steak and eggs and wasn't expecting that much. Boy was I wrong. Perfect medium rare steak with two beautiful eggs and great fries. I don't usually say I'm going to come back but I will to Marben and for this meal.
My friend and I had such a lovely time! The service and food was fantastic, but I also like how tucked away the restaurant felt! I will definitely be going back!
A very good brunch here.
Our food wait was a little long and was apologized for and dessert was given free. Really appreciated the thought to do that.
I would definitely go again.
Jordan was amazing! we had a great time! thank you!
We had hoped for more from our dining expereience at Marben. However, we left disappointed.
The blue cheese polenta starter was tasteless, the fries that accompanied the Johns Burger were too salty and oily. In addition, the other main, the lamb, was to fatty and tasted just ok.
The two of us were seated next to a nosiy table of 8. Understand that people would like to chat and sometimes a high pitch levels but we could have been seated elsewhere. There were 2 seat tables free further away from this noisy bunch.
The decor was great and service was ok but it could have been better by asking us about the starters and taking the feedback.
Unfortunately we will not go back for dinner again.
The moment we walked in we were greeted with a welcoming smile
The restaurant is beautifully decorated and the waiter took time to give us a bit of history. He was attentive knowledgeable and passionate about describing the menu options .
I am vegetarian and found a good delicious selection of very interesting dishes .
Bar tender made it an art to create the wonderful cocktails ( try the smoked Margarita ) and was happy to serve them himself and describe
I highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to our next visit
All was just right
Everything was fantastic and Dan’s service was very attentive. The burger was sublime. Great experience all around.
Great food, great place, great night! Would definitely go back.
Such a great experience. Took some friends here from out of town. Food was outstanding. Our waiter, Zane, was terrific.
Some of the best food in the city.
Have been here many times and never had a bad meal. Service staff are super friendly. You have to go to one of their brunches!!!
The DJ keep increasing the volume throughout the evening and when the music suddenly stopped, everyone in the room realized that we were all yelling. The quality of the food was subpar—lamb was dry, one of our desserts (which all supposed to be the same) was missing parts of it, the flavors were odd, in a not so complimentary way. We chose Marben because it is touted as amenable to gluten free, but when we discussed it with the waiter, he seemed as this was abstract to him. Having said that, the pastry crusts, that those of us who did not need to be gluten free enjoyed, were phenomenal. Although, I wish I would take the experience back as it was definitely not worth the expense, it could easily have been an off night.
Excellent New Year’s Eve dinner with set menu and creative wine/beer pairings - very inventive
We chose this restaurant for New Years Eves. Let me start with the positives. The restaurant is very nice. The staff was friendly and professional. The set menu was not attractive at all but we thought how bad could it be. Well...it was horrible. There was no one dish out of the (6) that was tasty. We came so hungry and were so happy and exciting to eat good fine food and ended up very disappointed. It seems to me that the chef tried so hard to make something extraordinary and ended up with terrible results.
The food was absolutely amazing our waiter was funny and friendly had great recommendations my husband really like to the cocktails I got the Sunday special roast perfectly done
Very accommodating of dietary restrictions! Yummy drinks and the food was delicious!
Came for Sunday brunch. It was my second attempt, the first time I didn't make a reservation and they were fully booked. Fabulous ambiance, cozy and cool. The menu was what appealed to me initially, in addition to the traditional British Fry-Up, there were mushrooms on toast with poached egg and a yummy sounding Cobb salad. I had the trout with squash fritters and poached eggs. The presentation was lovely, so pretty. The trout was too salty (for my taste) but the eggs were perfectly cooked and the tart pickled onions were a nice accompaniment. My guest had the breakfast burger, it looked nice but the fries were too salty to eat. Very friendly service - perhaps too friendly. We were both still drinking our coffees but were asked 3 times if we were ready for our bill.
I would be willing to give the food another try. Perhaps it was a one-off that both plates were too salty.
Great decor and vibe, service and drinks were okay, food was terrible. Ordered steak medium and was way over cooked and half the size of my friends dish who ordered the same thing. It looked like they cooked a large steak, cut it into pieces, gave me the ends and my friend the middle. The fact it made it to the table says food is not their thing and they are not afraid to “cut” corners.
A great place for a holiday get together with close friends. The menu is inventive, the presentation appealing and the food perfectly seasoned. There is enough space between tables to have a conversation while maintaining the feeling of an intimate spot.
Best in class service!
Great food, atmosphere, a bit too loud even for me! Love the ambient music with DJ on Sat nite, steak was fantastic as was oysters.
All good! Great spot.
Every dish we ordered was excellent and portion sizes were just right. Good wine selection - especially with Pearl Morissette on the list. Servers were friendly, talkative and knowledgeable.
Have dined at Marben twice & both times we loved the friendly atmosphere & the delicious food. Service was informative & friendly, our waiter added to our enjoyment of the evening. Will definitely return.
Have been many times and always great food, great service and just a wonderful experience.
Went for the roast beef dinner and half priced wine! Both were great!
Great service and wonderful atmosphere. Food was delicious!
Food was decent, but portions were abysmally small for the price.
I adored the place, the night before we had visited their speakeasy: the Cloak Bar which had the same exact tone and relaxed atmosphere. The drinks were amazing in both locations and the service overall was fast which did not however reduce the food quality at all. I’d recommend it to anyone visiting Toronto just like we did.
Loved it ! Bartenders took a real interest in your concerns and needs as far as food and drink. Very impressed. Try out the Cloak afterwards for a bev!
Was great. Until it got louder as the evening progressed. For no reason. Still was a great evening out.
Beautiful place, great food and service. Would recommend for date or any event. Good for intimate conversations, business dinners, birthdays. What I like is that the noise level doesn’t get too high, so you can actually have a conversation. If you’re looking for somewhere super lively, it’s not the place, but it’s not boring or stuffy at all.
From start to finish Marben lived up to all of the expectations I had when I booked the reservation. There was so much on the carefully curated menu that I wanted to eat. It was hard to pick so we ordered three small plates. The lamb fat brioche was one of the most amazing umami bites in my 2018 dining experience. Then the lobster and roots and Tandoori chicken scotch egg were amazing. Dinner / we decided on the cod and the pork paired with some amazing Ontario wine. Yes, I had wine from Ontario and I liked it A LOT! We can’t wait to go back to Toronto to sit at the Chef’s counter - which is where we sat - I say the best seat in the house! 5 stars for Marben!!!!
Great brunch in a creative environment. Interesting cocktails and perfectly seasoned mains.
The farm to table restaurant was incredible. The Staff was very friendly and super knowledgeable!
The food was so delicious! We had The Beef Cheek, Buttermilk Fried Cauliflower (which was like a snack!!), Tanjo Farm Dabbling Duck & Beverley Creek Breast of Lamb. I would order the same thing over again! And the cocktails were delicious!
Delicious food, everything we had was excellent. There was a great restaurant atmosphere - good lighting and seating. We were near the kitchen so nice to take a peak to see what's going on. Plates were easy to share and let you try more things!
We were there to celebrate a 10th anniversary. The final bill was nearly $400 for 4 people. While not outrages, it was still a substantive enough bill that I would have expected a bit more attention to detail and the needs of the table. The music was quite loud which made hearing the table conversation difficult at times. Also, I was a bit disappointed in the service. The extra toast we ordered was very late getting to the table, thankfully the server deducted it from our final bill. We were served with our main, but had no cutlery so had to go track down someone to get us utensils to eat with. In selecting the wines we had to go to our third choice as the first two were not in stock.
Have been to Marben several times for brunch and dinner. I generally enjoy the food, and the service is consistently great. This visit there were three in the party. Our server made excellent wine recommendations, and was friendly and very attentive. We enjoyed the three plates we split (fried cauliflower, mussels in dashi, and a couple oysters). For our main we got the beef family style meal. The side of veggies was terrific. However the steak and frites were not to our liking; felt the cut of beef was not of good quality and was very chewy (although it was cooked to the requested medium rare), and the fries were very very greasy and too rich to eat more than one or two with the steak and the heavy, creamy sauce. I was disappointed the end of the meal didn’t hit the high note we were looking for. Our dinner guest commented how much he liked the shared plates, the service, and the space but said the family platter was like it was prepped by a different chef, and he didn’t care for it at all. Marben was a recommendation we made at the request of our guest wanting to treat us to dinner, and I felt terribly he was so dissatisfied with the ‘big ticket’ order on the bill (which was $400+). I would return in future to give it another go, but probably not for awhile... this one stung a little.
Marben wwas recommended to us and it did not disappoint. The food and service were topnotch. Mushroom ketchup - drool.
