Great evening spent at The Market
Good atmosphere, service and most importantly food
A big thanks to our waiter “Scouse Bobby” who really looked after us
Terry and ANN
A great restaurant and experience. The ambiance, food and service were superb.
The food was delicious and the portions are generous. The service was attentive but not bothersome. They have a wonderful wine that is from Oregon that is a blend of 4 white wines. Fabulous! An elegant place to dine.
Pre-cruise holiday dinner with my wife. Impressive food &!service
Service was great - food had barely any seasoning.
I was expecting exceptional, but I found the meal very good but nothing special
Great service, excellent food
Pleasant, attentive service.
We had a memorable evening, great food, spectacular service in a beautiful setting. Truly a special place and a wonderful experience.
Food was fabulous, service was fantastic!
The epitome of accessible upscale dining. The Jean-Georges name is what attracted me to the restaurant, and my expectations of the food were surpassed. The atmosphere within the Shangri-La hotel was exclusive yet not too stuffy. Our server was very nice and accommodating in helping me choose a wine to my liking. We had some pleasant conversation.
The food was absolutely to-die-for. The seasonal soup (mushroom with truffle) was unctuous and rich. My spring pea and mushroom risotto was rich and flavorful, and my scallop add-ons were hands down the best scallops I have ever tasted in my life - sweet, firm, with a perfect hard sear. They were the example of what a scallop should be. My friend's Halibut was so good she ate the entire thing, which she can never do. Unfortunately, our savory meals were so good we couldn't make room for dessert.
The dining experience alone made me regretful I hadn't booked a stay at the hotel. Next time, I definitely will, and we'll eat at Market again for sure.
We went to have a late lunch at Market by Jean-Georges. The decor is glamorous but understated. The service is impeccable. The food is exquisite. The salmon salad was delicious with large steelhead pieces and a scrumptious dressing. I ordered a side of fries: they were crunchy and flavourful. My friend ordered the pasta with truffles with a side of scallops; she savoured them to the last forkful. The Chai Tea Tart served with coconut ice cream was divine!
The variety of cocktails, wine and food make Market a great option for dinner. It's quiet and intimate without feeling crowded. The service can vary a bit depending on how new the staff is and how busy the restaurant gets, but typically is attentive and professional.
So pleased to dine in this lovely restaurant. It was our daughter’s birthday and the restaurant made a lovely birthday plate with desert .
Wonderful to not have loud music in the background!
The black truffle scrambled eggs were excellent
The stuffed chicken sausage was phenomenal
The waitress was a bit pushy, but that isn't a big deal
From the moment we arrived, the staff were professional and courteous. We were celebrating a birthday and they were
We had a wonderful meal at Market to celebrate our daughter's graduation. The staff all made such a fuss of her and made her feel very special indeed. The food was delicious and they offered a very extensive vegetarian and vegan menu which was the reason we booked this restaurant. It didn't disappoint!
If there was to be one criticism - turn off the air conditioning. The day itself had been very warm and sunny but there really was no need for the air conditioning in the evening. Constructive feedback only intended as it was a very lovely evening of which we will have fond memories celebrating.
Good food and service. Best of all NOT NOISY!
Situated on the third floor of the Shangri-la Hotel, the dining room is serene and sexy. There are comfortable semi-circular booths and smaller tables in an open greenhouse like room.
The service is tentative, knowledgeable and friendly. The food is tasty and beautifully presented. The wine list covers several terroirs in North America and Europe. Overall and beautiful room and good menu.
Good selection of dinner items, server was attentive and friendly. Quality and taste of food was excellent. Nice ambiance for a special night out.
Good food but it needs to stand out a bit more. It lacked a bit of something.
Mothers Day dinner
Mother’s Day celebration. Food for everyone! Thank you!
Always on point. Food and all. One of my top faves in the city
Had the pleasure of celebrating a birthday here. They were generous enough to do a complimentary birthday cake request. Thank you.
Exceptional food at a JG restaurant at a very reasonable price
Phenomenal service and food! Our waiter was amazing and made our experience. He had excellent drink recommendations and is the reason we are coming back.
Estamos de viaje de aniversario. Fuimos en plan de cena romántica y el lugar es extraordinario. La comida y el servicio excelente. Un gran lugar!!
Our waiter was amazing. Great recommendations for wine and food. Private room was perfect for party of 10. Definitely recommend.
Great food and service.
Awesome! From the greeter to the waiter to to sommelier, they were all fantastic. Made my wife’s birthday extra special. Staff went well above and beyond to welcome us. A little $$ but worth it in my opinion.
It was the first time for my wife and I at this restaurant. We were the first ones to arrive for seating at 5:30 pm. When the restaurant opened, we were ushered to a 4-person table with aisles on both sides of the table. Two ladies behind us were given a window table. When I asked for the same, I was told there was no table available at the window. I was speechless. My wife declined the 4-person table and we settled for a table near the wall. The host told us, "Did anybody tell you that because of bookings you have until 7 pm and then you must vacate the table. " Wow! Was everybody else told that too? Because we had a show to go to at 7:30, we were ok with that. However, if it was, say, our anniversary, we would have walked out immediately.
What a start to this restaurant that is listed on the top 10 in Vancouver.
We both had halibut which tasted ok, nothing great. The presentation was awful. Bernaise sauce delivered in a container like ketchup? Really?
Side order of fries for $8? Burger King or White Spot has better fries!
The cheesecake dessert was the best part of the meal. It was very good!
Our waiter, Tom and the other servers, were all friendly and efficient.
We were the first ones to leave. I didn't see anyone rushing to leave. In fact, the two ladies after us by the window, were sipping wine and there was no main course in sight.
My wife and I are not the complaining type of people. In fact, in about ten years of Open Table reservations, this is the first negative review I have written.
Overall, disappointing treatment by the host and overpriced nothing special food will keep us from visiting this restaurant again.
The set sakura menu was full dishes that were pleasing to the eye and palate... each plate was a work of art and tastes were exquisite. Service was friendly and attentive.
There was hair in my dish. And servers and managers handled really well. I understand hair is really difficult to avoid. There is always a small chance.
Had a great meal.. food excellent .. tuna very fresh, dessert lovely. Truffle pizza was gorgeous. Special mention for the service, Tom was attentive but not intrusive.. knowledgeable and friendly.. excellent!! Would definitely go back.
Best restaurant in vancouver for casual, elegant dining! Superb!!!
The staff were all super friendly. When the manager delivered my food he accidentally knocked over my coffee onto my food. He was prompt to remake my pizza and offer me a free soup. In addition gift my daughters each a stuff animal and made them felt special. At the end also took my pizza off the bill. All around the service was wonderful, the food taste great and we had a very good time.
4 stars for Kitchen and Bar (-1 for microwaved stiff bread)
3 stars for the service
0 star for the table reservation system (I requested for a "quiet table" on my reservation a week ahead. We arrived on time at 5:30 pm and have to wait for their table set up until 5:36 pm. When a guy in black suit brought us to the first table right next to the bar and washroom, he turned away immediately. We can only requested for a quieter table to our server who was nice enough to arrange us another table at the back which was in front of their serving station and next to the private dining room)
The restaurant was quite empty and the food not as flavourful as I would have expected from Jean Georges.
Our waitress knew the menu very well and was able to recommend excellent dairy-free options. We celebrated our anniversary and they brought out a card and a lovely DF dessert with writing on it at the end!
