Market by Jean-Georges Restaurant Ratings and Reviews
High quality food and atmosphere as you would expect from a Jean-Georges restaurant.
Extremely tasty food! Excellent service! Portions are tiny and this is no cheap place, so don’t come hungry lol. No complaints! It was excellent!
Our server was extremely attentive and gave us great suggestions for both food and drinks! We were seated in a cozy area which was nice and intimate. The oysters were delicious and the cocktails were unique, with featured ingredients such as truffle and kelp.
Kusshi Oysters, the Slow Cooked Steelhead, and the Filet Mignon are all excellent. Portions are a proper size, so gluttons will of course complain. "Seed to Glass" (non-alcoholic) is one of the best drinks I have ever had. Busy, but not too busy. Tables are set far enough apart that you don't have to listen to the next party's conversation. Staff is attentive, but not too attentive, and you will never feel rushed to leave. The bar by the entrance looked well stocked, and it looked like a good place to catch up with a friend over a quiet drink. If you aren't in a rush, and want to enjoy dinner and some conversation with your date, this is a great choice.
Great new year brunch and nice waitress . However, the host made a sour face towards us, and some of the food was shocking. The Roasted Chicken that our table ordered came with a Mexican Mole Poblano - most restaurants would consider giving a health warning for serving that specific Mexican CHOCOLATE sauce, especially together with what seemed to be macadamia nuts. Along with that, the ‘Steelhead Sashimi’ was not sashimi at all, rather, it was a bad play on nigiri. The only ‘raw fish’ in it was salmon that had been smoked, which is an extremely deceitful name. Aside from that one appetizer which was a clearly NOT sashimi, the Avocado Toast, other entrees and desserts were quite nice.
We just love this restaurant
Market is consistently one of the most refined spaces in the city to dine at. The menu is small and well planned. The service is impeccable. I would highly recommend as a fine dining experience. There are only a handful of sophisticated modern restaurants in YVR and this is the best of them.
Excellent as always!
The service was excellent but I am surprise a restaurant of this caliber puts a bussing station right behind tables. Not only was the view terrible of the bustling wait staff and dirty dishes but the noise level that accompanied it was high and disarming. Chatter and clanking dishes make the experience less than the five star it should have been
Went there on Christmas Day, felt like they were short on servers. Had to wait for quite sometime to order.
Food quality was mediocre at best. Looks like the restaurant did not keep note of our reservation through open table until we got there. They clearly added a table to the dining area once they noticed their error. It didn't take long, so we didn't make a fuss out of it. Sausages were pre-cooked and were not hot when the food arrived. Servers were very polite and attentive. It was not a bad experience overall, but Denny's has better breakfast food for a cheaper price.
The food served are very creative. We ate both Dinner and Breakfast there. Everything is very tasty.
Every year, close to Xmas, we as a family would go out for a Family Xmas lunch and this year, i chose your restaurant.
We were extremely impressed with the quality of service from the moment we entered the lobby on the main floor where one of the friendly staffs walked us to the elevator to take us up to the restaurant ... throughout our meal, we were treated like royalty ... your service was first class.
At the end of our meal, when the bill arrived, I was shocked at the value ... Less than $ 300 for 5 people for lunch is an excellent value for me. You can rest assure we will be back soon.
One word can described my entire dinner: excellent!
Consistently good food. Comfortable seating. Attentive service.
We were rushed, it was a busy busy Sunday afternoon!
Overall experience... awesome
Our waiter and all around staff was amazing very attentive and kind.
Food was fantastic from appetizers to dessert!!!
Will definitely go back!
Once again, Market delivered the goods. It was a quiet night which suited us. My VP was in from San Francisco and we had been up in Whistler where we were disappointed by the service at a normally great restaurant. So I was hopeful that the staff at Market we’re as good as usual.
It’s one of my favourite rooms. It’s peaceful, comforting and beautiful with a modern elegance and international feel. This could be in London, Hong Kong or New York.
The food and service lived up to all expectations. Keep up the great work and we’ll keep coming back.
Thank you for the amazing brunch on Saturday! My brother got married and we were warmly greeted upon our arrival by the host and they had our table ready for us despite being 30 minutes early. When we sat down a bottle of champagne was brought over to our table which was a lovely gesture. It didn’t stop there, we ate our food which was yummy and after, a hand written note was given to my brother and his husband as well as chocolate covered strawberries! Thank you ever so much for making this special day even more special.
From the reception, to the bar and to our table, we received nothing but superb service! The staff were very welcoming, accomodating, and kind. The food was amazing, me and my friends enjoyed the main entrées.
Market by Jean-Georges has great ratings and reviews that it made me curious. And now I know why a lot of people recommended this fine dining for any kind of occasion. They are well-trained to treat their customers with respect and kindness.
Overall, it was a fun-tastic experience and I will be back very soon! :-)
Very, very good.
My friends and I are very disappointed with our Sunday brunch visit this weekend. Our orders, including just coffee to start, took over 15 minutes to arrive, and then another 20 mins for the food to come. The restaurant was not busy at all. The servers never came around to refill our waters or coffee. We had to patiently wait and flag a server down each time to receive any service.
I also had to ask for a glass of hot water 3 times to receive it - the same server forgot twice. At the end I noticed a hot water charge on my receipt which was never mentioned by the server. The receipt noted it was served with lemon and honey for $2.50 which I did not get. My friend also got her food order wrong and had to send it back. The food itself was only mediocre. I am extremely surprised by the bad service at a world class hotel. We will not be returning again.
We've been here in the past for dinner which was reaaally good. So this was the main reason we tried their brunch. Unfortunately the food was not nearly as elevated as I hoped it would be, especially for the cost. Also the service this time around was again unfortunately awful. Super inattentive, brought the wrong food, didn't offer drink refills. So yeah, I loved the dinner menu, but the Bruch is definitely worth skipping.
We tried the tasting menu and wine pairing. It was all very well done. Presentation and taste was awesome. I would definitely recommend.
When we were married 5 years ago we stayed at the Shangri-la and loved it. We went to Market for our first anniversary 4 years ago and the it was amazing, so we decide to come back for our 5th anniversary. Sadly since that time it appears everything has gone downhill.
Upon arrival, there was one gentleman being assisted by the hostess. While we are waiting a women who had already been seated interrupts host because she forgot her phone in her (checked) coat pocket. She finished helping the gentleman, then proceed to help the other women get her phone before attending to us, despite the fact we had already been standing around waiting before she arrived.
Seating- there were plenty of tables but we ended up getting seated at banquet with the next table less then a foot beside us. Not as private as I would have hoped for a special occasion.
Food- I really wanted to try the vegan menu. I ordered the maitake mushroom salad to start and it was okay. I had the carrot risotto and it was extremely underwhelming. The portion was very small (about 1 cup of rice) with a few carrot pieces on top. The "herb salad" was a sprig of dill and parsley. It was also completely flavourless. Do not order this. I had the sorbet to finish and it was small but good.
Service- So impersonal and cold. Last time we were here we were made to feel so special, so this was the most noticeable difference of the whole experience. Our server did not say anything to us other then asking us what we would like to eat and drink. Despite being asked when if we were celebrating a special occasion (the day before, when confirming the reservation) there was no mention or congratulations of any sort.
Overall, I would not recommend Market anymore. Much better value at other high end restaurants when your spending that much money.
Minimalist servings. 3 scallops come on! Be inspired by LaPointe restaurant at Wickininnish!
A quiet rainy Monday meant few diners. We had attentive service but never overly. Food was very fresh and high quality, presentations simple, seasoning subtle. The vegetable sides were top notch and generous, cooked with as much respect as the feature dishes. Wine list is smart and short, with some excellent (and expensive) choices for the adventurous and fortunate.
We had a delicious dinner at Market in the Shangri-La Vancouver. Food was excellent, with a broad variety of options on the menu. Atmosphere somewhat lacking but this may have been because it was quite quiet. Service slow but we were not in a rush so it didn't matter.
Treated like we were VIP. Great service from the bartender to the waiter to the hosts. Food was great , all around a great experience.
Venue is great and service is friendly but I wouldn't recommend this place if you are pressed for time. Service was extremely slow. Took a long time for server to arrive to take our drinks orders, long time to bring the wine, then the food, and forever to show up so I can flag her down to bring the check. I was with clients and we had a very busy afternoon ahead so the slow service made it uncomfortable for all. Good place if you have a lot of time to spare
Knowing that one of us was gluten-allergic, the host came to our table with a copy of the dietary restriction menu. As well, our server went out of his way to talk with the chef about the possibility of modifying the tasting menu for gluten allergy. While it was disappointing not to have been able to order the tasting menu, what we ordered was fantastic. I do hope the chef will consider having future tasting menus be flexible to accommodate allergies.
We regularly eat at Market but this meal was outstanding. We had the tasting menu with wine pairings and every dish was excellent. The chef and staff served us, which enhanced the experience. Our first dish was presented in such an interesting way and the smoke was evocative of a campfire. It set the tone.
As regular diners we always recommend Market but this was a new level. Well done! Exceptional and worth 5 stars in every category.
Best steak I have had in Vancouver
Anniversary dinner - added a nice little touch for birthday and anniversary dinners. I won't share the touch so it won't ruin the experience for others.
Went to celebrate my partners birthday 🎂 and we had an amazing experience. The service and food were excellent. We sat with a beautiful view of downtown, and it was romantic and perfect. The staff provided a little birthday treat and even a card! I was really touched, and my partner enjoyed every minute!
If we could give it 6 stars we would!
Enfin! A restaurant with a nice ambiance where you can actually discuss and hear the person you're speaking with.
Very good food, courteous service. Great place.
Great service. Was our Anniversary and they gave us touches that made the night that little bit more special. Food was great. Would go back.
