The staff was very attentive and knew the menu very well. The Chef came out as well after I expressed that I didn’t enjoy a dish and made me feel like this is a restaurant that cares to make your experience of dining there worth it. Will definitely come back.
Unbelievable restaurant. Best restaurant in the Caribbean!
What can I write that has yet to be written about this gem on the Isle of Enchantment? Mere words do no justice. Go for yourself to experience a culinary treasure!! (Run; don’t walk!). Chef Peter: as always, THANK YOU for being such a gracious host and sharing your treasure with the rest of us! Much love to you and the family! Billy
My husband and I came here after it was recommended by everyone! The restaurant had been closed for renovations so we came back on their first night open and it was a wonderful experience. We did the five course without the wine pairing and purchased a bottle of wine for the table. The service was INCREDIBLE. The white bean soup is BANANAS...its a must have. The sea bass was also from another world. The creme brulee desert was to die for...with peanut butter ice cream! We also had a desert cocktail that really just hit the spot. Not too sweet...just amazing. everything about this place, especially our server Rubio, was amazing. He was ridiculously knowledgeable about the menu but also super passionate about what he does which made the whole experience even more elevated. We will definitely be back!
Fantabulous is the word for this restaurant. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a 6 course meal paired with amazing wines. Every dish was outstanding. Our waiter, Jose, made our Anniversary dinner most enjoyable. For a young lad, his education on the wines was impressive and pretty spot on. Quick note: originally we tried for a reservation for the following night but nothing was available due to the restaurant closing for a 2 week well deserved vacation. One would never know that was the case- right up to closing service was impeccable. Peter we will be back 😎
Restaurant decorations are gorgeous, employees are so experienced, food is the best.
Waitress was lovely and very attentive. The lobster risotto was to die for!!!! The crime brûlée was also absolutely delicious.
What an outstanding meal!! Hostess went out of her way to make us comfortable as did all of the staff!!! Each dish was beautifully presented with depth of flavors! The lobster risotto and the chocolate dessert were two of the best dishes I have ever eaten!
Outstanding and memorable
This restaurant is often rated #1 in San Juan and, after a wonderful dinner there, it is easy to see why. Each dish served was an amazing set of textures and flavors with just the right amounts to leave us full but not bloated. The service was impeccable, with excellent descriptions, suggestions and numerous 'added touches'. Highly recommended. It's expensive, but worth it. I'd suggest doing the 4 or 5 course tasting and make sure you get the White bean soup (unless you hate umami flavors) - not to be missed!!!
Wow. What a meal. Gnocchi with beef tenderloin may have been the single greatest meal I've ever eaten. And the dessert was amazing.
Over the last two weeks I’ve found myself in San Juan for work. Based on recommendations from friends, I set up a reservation for a business development dinner at Marmalade.
I was not disappointed. Our server-José-was fantastic. He was friendly, attentive and all of his suggestions for our six-course flight were pitch perfect. Example: Being from Louisiana, we were skeptical about the “popcorn shrimp,” but we placed our faith in José and were not disappointed (Hint: it isn’t what you’re thinking).
The Sea Bass and the Pork Cheek are not to be missed. The Ceviche is likewise amazing. Find a way to make room for dessert as well.
We will definitely be going back on subsequent trips. I wish I could give Marmalade more than 5-Stars...and if you’re reading this José, thank you again for a great experience!
Remarkable and unique food!
Once again a wonderful dinning experience. To me one of the best restaurants in Puerto Rico, if not the best.
We absolutely love this place! Every bite is delicious. Portions are very large for a tasting menu
Celebrated our anniversary at Marmalade we arrived to a table sprinkled with rose petals! Manager and other servers stopped by periodically to wish us happy anniversary- so nice. Food was superb, great wine selection and the service was outstanding. We recommend the white bean soup. (Wow) and beef tenderloin (wow). It made our first visit to PR and to Marmalade so memorable. We will be back!!! Thank you!
This was our fourth visit to Marmalade, and first time since having kids. It was so good to see the restaurant up and running post Maria and the food was as out of this world as we remembered. Peter and the staff were very accommodating of our little picky eaters and they couldn’t help but expand their palettes while were there. Thanks for yet another fantastic, memorable experience.
It was one of the best meals ever. The tasting menu was great and the careful and attentive service made it even better
Food was superb. The staff was impeccable. The service on spot. We had the four course paired with wine. The pairing was perfect. Highly recommended
We are on vacation in San Juan. We decided to have the 4 and 5 course dining experience with wine pairings for each course. It was fantastic! Our waiter was José who was incredibly knowledgeable and his passion was infectious. We highly recommend Marmelade!
Very fancy and upscale restaurant with a cool vibe, comfortable seating, and great location. The service was okay (we had empty drinks several times). The food was good, with some courses much better than others. If you’re into Puerto Rican food, there are a few other options out there.
Excellent in every way. Would recommend this restaurant highly to anyone who can afford the tab!
Great culinary experience! Great tha I can choose the entrees. Nice place. Great option for a date.
I went to Marmalade to celebrate my birthday. They had rose petals and a card at my seat upon arrival. Humberto (sp?) at the bar and the entire staff were so kind. I was still a little full from lunch so I had two starters and dessert. The white bean soup is some of the best soup I have ever tasted. It lives up to the hype. The lobster risotto could have used just a pinch more of salt but was also good. The creme brulee was very tasty as well. I would definitely recommend Marmalade and can't wait to go back for more soup the next time I'm in PR.
A gem in the heart of Old San Juan, the Marmalade invites its patrons in to an intimate setting where diners can choose 4-6 courses from a diverse selection for each course. Every dish, from the appetizer to dessert, is paired with a complementary wine that completes the blend of flavors. The white bean soup is ambrosia, the gnocchi amazing , the radish carpaccio, the cilantro lime popcorn shrimp, the lamb, the Copper River sockeye-such a delightful, satisfying experience. If you are ever in Old San Juan come to James Beard award winning Peter Schintler’s spot on Calle Fortaleza.
rxcellent servica and wine pairing
Fantastic tasting menu! Our waiter Rubio was extremely knowledgeable and friendly. He let us pick two different tastings so we had a twelve course meal. Great attention to detail and unique ingredients and wine pairings. Great spot in Old San Juan!
Great service and great food!
Last minute reservation after an arrival in San Juan on 6/14/19 with our 2 kids. Have eaten at some of the best restaurants in the world. Marmalade makes the list. From the service, preparation, and detail, the chef/owner obviously takes pride in his work. He mingled throughout the evening with genuine conversation. In addition, the wine list would make any top tier US restaurant jealous with many boutique and cult offerings. Puerto Rico is lucky to have this. All is good in this Old San Juan oasis. Certainly James Beard worthy.
This was one of the best meals we’ve ever had, anywhere. More than a meal, it’s an experience. Peter came to our table and spent time talking about his background, Island recovery, and how he takes care of his people. Amazing person, amazing chef.
Excellent food. We enjoyed a custom cocktail pairing that was excellent. An evening to remember.
One of the great restaurants anywhere.
Un très beau cadre dans le Vieux San Juan, des personnes au service très attentionnés et heureuses de vous recevoir, un chef présent et engagé, une cuisine délicate, produits d'une immense qualité, excellents et mémorables moments et souvenirs à partager...
Absolutely fantastic!! Food was delicious and the service was great too. Beautiful restaurant, the waiter José gave really good recommendations and the American girl (which I cannot remember that name, sorry!) who was bringing us the food was super friendly too! Loved it, will definitely recommend!
Absolutely amazing food and service. Best in PR! I highly recommend.
Amazing meal. Dishes well balanced and meal well paced. Wine pairing was fantastic. Great wines and well worth the value. Foie grad was standout dish. Simply amazing!
Our experience at Marmalade was wonderful. We were celebrating our 30th anniversary and the chef and the staff made our evening extra special. The food was outstanding, each course was special.
Chef is awesome and it was great to see that him and his restaurant, recovered from the devastating hurricane! Everything at Marmalade is memorable, enjoy!
Remarkable! Never fails to impress!
