Way too loud and we were way too old for this clearly youth-oriented brewery.
Don't know if responsibility rested with Mascot or with Open Table, but when I showed up at Mascot with a hard copy of my Open Table Reservation page, I was told that the Restaurant was booked for a private event. The option of joining four others at a picnic table on the roof didn't appeal, so we went elsewhere, for a pre-Jays meal. As a result, I cannot respond to the above questions.
Now I find that the computer won't let me submit this without answering the questions that (as noted above) I cannot really answer. As I result, I am obliged to select random responses that have no bearing in reality (and that will skew your data, I'm afraid) simply in order to respond to your request for input. Consider the creative step of taking into account the possibility of a response such as this, where not all question can be answered.
Great music! Loved the DJ! Good range of beers and food was fantastic.
The setup for the restaurant (indoor) area is fairly standard for a brewery taproom - industrial with the fermentation tanks in view, concrete floors and bottle shop at the front door. We had two servers for a group of four, which led to a couple of hiccups early on but smoothed out later. The room is very dark - windows high up and a lot of black coloured walls. And it was NOISY! Holy crap was it noisy!! I had to shout just to hear myself speak. This was due to the hard surfaces but also the music was just too loud.
The food was great though. We had the Brussels, sunchokes, Korean rice bowl, mac and cheese, and cevice. All were well made and presented, and very tasty. Beer was great too with offerings in most styles.
I might go back again to check out the rooftop patio, which we looked in on. But that was also very loud - possibly even louder than inside! Jeez!!
We had a group of 6 that went for dinner and beer before the Jays game. Relaxed and fun atmosphere. Great selection of beer. Food was fast and tasty. Staff were friendly and welll informed. Will go again.
This place was enjoyable, drinks were amazing and food outstanding
Great venue, so I would gladly go back for a drink (especially on the patio) but not for their food.
Food- It was mediocre at best, small portions and nothing our party had was overly enjoyable. I personally opted for the gnocchi which was boiled and mushy (over done) but it did have a decent flavor (would’ve been a lot better pan fried.) The Mac n’ cheese were just ok, and the fried Brussels usually one of my favourite dishes were not good here, they were too oily and it was almost like the peanuts were added on top to absorb it.
All the hype surrounding this spot I might’ve had my expectations set a bit higher, but even still I wouldn’t go back for food unless they announced a re-do for their menu.
It was good. Food was pretty good-looking service was a little lacking. Very slow
Met with son from out of town for a meal prior to Blue Jays game. Beer selection and advice on selection excellent. The waitress was very knowledgable about menu items and her recommendations worked out to be just what we wanted.
This was my first time at Mascot. Mascot brewery made it easy to make reservations and there were no problems upon arrival wth the reservation. They made our party feel really welcome and helped accommodate us all. The drinks were amazing and the staff were all helpful and friendly. Will come back soon.
Fun, chill atmosphere and good music! Cool cool cool
Nice place for a beer and comfort food before the baseball game
Great beer, great food. Hockey game was hard to see, other than that I enjoyed my experience.
We were very delighted with this find. Googled places close to Second City. Excellent food, great service and good vibe.
We were there fairly early so was quiet when we came in around 5pm. It quickly got busy and although a little loud was a great casual atmosphere. Food was fantastic as were the beer and cocktails. Our server took great care of us
Good spot for an after work get together, casual meal or drinks.
This is my new go-to spot when I am in Toronto, regardless of where I am staying. The atmosphere is great, the service is fantastic and the food and beverage even better. Been back 3 times now and have not been disappointed!
The atmosphere and food was pretty good. Came here with a friend. Service started out great too but I guess you're expected to order alcohol and a half dozen plates of food - because when they found out we were each only ordering two plates each, they made us feel unwelcome. Would not return if service was the same.
The food was good. The restrooms were bad. The dark, noisy dining room atmosphere was not that pleasant.
An okay experience overall. The food and beer were both pretty good, but the service kind of sucked. I'm not sure if it was the night we were there, but we were passed up service wise for other larger groups and had to find out server to order and pay. Didn't love the food/beer enough to warrant going back unless I was in the neighbourhood and someone wanted to try it out.
Great setting for four friends getting together for drinks and a bite to eat. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the beers. The booth were had was very conducive to good conversation - without having to shout over loud music or noise.
Staff were great. We were late for our reservation and couldn't get in touch, and they kept the table for us. Server was attentive even though the room was busy. Overall it was a bit louder than I expected, and I'd really like it if they opened for lunch! Beer is great, food was great. I'll definitely return.
The beer was fantastic! Love they brew right there and if you're lucky you can watch the FEMALE Brewmaster working on the vats!!
Great experience and even better service! And it's next door to Second City if you're looking for a pre and post show drink and dinner!! Cheers!!
Great beer selection, food was delicious. Service a little slow, but friendly. I’ll be back.
I planned a surprise birthday dinner with help from the staff and it was perfect. The food was great, the service was amazing and the atmosphere was exactly what I had hoped for. I would highly recommend the Mascot Brewery for a fun filled evening out with friends or for a quieter date with that someone special. Nothing bad to say about the Mascot Brewery at all! A++
Our first visit....we stopped to try the beer after seeing a sign at the end of the block.....and ended up staying for dinner and cancelling our other reservation! Started out sitting at the bar for a flight of IPAs and a manhattan and as we watched the kitchen staff get ready for dinner, decided to stay! We moved over to a booth where we had an even better view of the kitchen! Everyone was very friendly and the food was amazing....especially the house-made pretzel buns with the burger!! They need to be on the menu to purchase separately!! Charcuterie plate was great, brussel sprouts were awesome (I don't normally like them!), brisket and burger were superb! We don't live in Toronto, but will definitely be back! Two thumbs up guys!!
Our second visit to Mascot was the same as the first - consistently excellent service, flavourful food and tasty libations. I’m surprised more people don’t come for dinner here. We’ve made reservations for 6-7pm and it is pleasantly calm & quiet. A great place to take a partner for their birthday or an impromptu dinner downtown. It’s not just a place to drink with friends but you can do that too. Now the secret is out!
We stumbled upon Mascot while looking for a tapas restaurant. They have the menu sorted by three sizes of plate plus dessert. We tried pints and had the bar select beers for our flights, which was fun and a great learning experience. We will definitely be back for the food (the Brussels sprouts are a must-try), the great beer and excellent service. The place gets pretty busy and energetic too, because they had a great DJ playing Friday night.
Only downside was the limited parking. We had to park north of King and walk in the blistering cold.
The duck was fantastic! Portions were a little small, but pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was!
We went for dinner before seeing a show next door at Second City. The beer on tap was amazing, and you can make your own tasting flight. The servers were all very friendly, and the food was amazing (yummm chicken and waffles!). Definitely recommend!
There weren’t many people at the place so it was just us. It was ok, but I did expect a better ambience.
Visited early on a Monday night. Tried a flight of Mascot beers: sour, ipa, apa and amber. All excellent. Also a selection of other beer if you don't want Mascot's own, and an extensive selection of other drinks. Our table shared almost all of the medium size plates on the menu (which was a small menu - but something I prefer). This is the best meal I have had in a long time. Medium sizes were great for sharing for a table of 3 or 4. Someone at Mascot definitely knows food. The wait staff were always there when needed but not overly so - a real talent in my opinion. Will plan to go back next time I visit Toronto.
I made a reservation but after one hour, I was told that my table was for someone else.
I still cannot believe it.
I went to Toronto especially for the microbreweries. I would have loved to taste every beer for all the evening but I had to go !
Food was perfect
We stopped there before heading to the Blue Jays game and received excellent, fast and friendly service. The burger was delicious - highly recommend it!
great view, great energy, great beer! too bad that the food from the restaurant downstairs isn't available on the rooftop patio but still lot's of great options
First time at Mascot. Service was excellent, food creative but not out-there, craft beer selection very good. The Mascot Saison was near-perfect. Interesting menu items. Our group recommends the burger, the frites, and the duck prosciutto with melon. Some interesting mixed drinks, too. Ambiance in the bar was so-so, but the Beer Garden is supposed to be very good (but it was a hot, humid day with the threat of a storm...) All in all, I would recommend.
The waitress Nikki was amazing and knowledgable the food was really good and good value. Not an extensive menu but I feel something for everyone
Our aim was to enjoy the rooftop patio at Mascot, but not surprisingly, that was everyone else's aim that evening too. So we went down to the brewery restaurant where it looked a bit empty. As we sat on the very high and hard benches we saw others tucked in the back. Our very charming waitress promptly brought the menu where our drink selection was minimal. No wine. You could get at 750ml bottle of beer for the price of a bottle of wine. Weird. Then we saw the food menu. It's minimalist to the extreme. We considered leaving but decided to stay and ordered fried chicken and the chicken wings. I was shocked at how well presented and more important, delicious my fried chicken was. A few things done well should never be doubted.
PS Bathrooms were pretty horrifying.
Got the burger and fries. Excellent all around.
Fantastic beers and beer selection. Excellent and friendly service.
HUGE rooftop patio. Highly reccommend.
There was a band the night I went that brought some great energy.
Great service inside the bar area and awesome ambiance on the patio!
Unfortunately it was raining so couldn't go to the patio, which was our original intent. So we just had drinks in the bar...service was great, but it was too loud to stay for dinner. Good vibe inside though...would like to go back and try the patio...
