Mascot Brewery Ratings and Reviews
Great setting for four friends getting together for drinks and a bite to eat. Our server was very friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and the beers. The booth were had was very conducive to good conversation - without having to shout over loud music or noise.
Staff were great. We were late for our reservation and couldn't get in touch, and they kept the table for us. Server was attentive even though the room was busy. Overall it was a bit louder than I expected, and I'd really like it if they opened for lunch! Beer is great, food was great. I'll definitely return.
The beer was fantastic! Love they brew right there and if you're lucky you can watch the FEMALE Brewmaster working on the vats!!
Great experience and even better service! And it's next door to Second City if you're looking for a pre and post show drink and dinner!! Cheers!!
I planned a surprise birthday dinner with help from the staff and it was perfect. The food was great, the service was amazing and the atmosphere was exactly what I had hoped for. I would highly recommend the Mascot Brewery for a fun filled evening out with friends or for a quieter date with that someone special. Nothing bad to say about the Mascot Brewery at all! A++
Great beer selection, food was delicious. Service a little slow, but friendly. I’ll be back.
Our first visit....we stopped to try the beer after seeing a sign at the end of the block.....and ended up staying for dinner and cancelling our other reservation! Started out sitting at the bar for a flight of IPAs and a manhattan and as we watched the kitchen staff get ready for dinner, decided to stay! We moved over to a booth where we had an even better view of the kitchen! Everyone was very friendly and the food was amazing....especially the house-made pretzel buns with the burger!! They need to be on the menu to purchase separately!! Charcuterie plate was great, brussel sprouts were awesome (I don't normally like them!), brisket and burger were superb! We don't live in Toronto, but will definitely be back! Two thumbs up guys!!
Our second visit to Mascot was the same as the first - consistently excellent service, flavourful food and tasty libations. I’m surprised more people don’t come for dinner here. We’ve made reservations for 6-7pm and it is pleasantly calm & quiet. A great place to take a partner for their birthday or an impromptu dinner downtown. It’s not just a place to drink with friends but you can do that too. Now the secret is out!
We stumbled upon Mascot while looking for a tapas restaurant. They have the menu sorted by three sizes of plate plus dessert. We tried pints and had the bar select beers for our flights, which was fun and a great learning experience. We will definitely be back for the food (the Brussels sprouts are a must-try), the great beer and excellent service. The place gets pretty busy and energetic too, because they had a great DJ playing Friday night.
Only downside was the limited parking. We had to park north of King and walk in the blistering cold.
The duck was fantastic! Portions were a little small, but pleasantly surprised at how delicious the food was!
We went for dinner before seeing a show next door at Second City. The beer on tap was amazing, and you can make your own tasting flight. The servers were all very friendly, and the food was amazing (yummm chicken and waffles!). Definitely recommend!
There weren’t many people at the place so it was just us. It was ok, but I did expect a better ambience.
Visited early on a Monday night. Tried a flight of Mascot beers: sour, ipa, apa and amber. All excellent. Also a selection of other beer if you don't want Mascot's own, and an extensive selection of other drinks. Our table shared almost all of the medium size plates on the menu (which was a small menu - but something I prefer). This is the best meal I have had in a long time. Medium sizes were great for sharing for a table of 3 or 4. Someone at Mascot definitely knows food. The wait staff were always there when needed but not overly so - a real talent in my opinion. Will plan to go back next time I visit Toronto.
I made a reservation but after one hour, I was told that my table was for someone else.
I still cannot believe it.
I went to Toronto especially for the microbreweries. I would have loved to taste every beer for all the evening but I had to go !
Food was perfect
We stopped there before heading to the Blue Jays game and received excellent, fast and friendly service. The burger was delicious - highly recommend it!
great view, great energy, great beer! too bad that the food from the restaurant downstairs isn't available on the rooftop patio but still lot's of great options
First time at Mascot. Service was excellent, food creative but not out-there, craft beer selection very good. The Mascot Saison was near-perfect. Interesting menu items. Our group recommends the burger, the frites, and the duck prosciutto with melon. Some interesting mixed drinks, too. Ambiance in the bar was so-so, but the Beer Garden is supposed to be very good (but it was a hot, humid day with the threat of a storm...) All in all, I would recommend.
The waitress Nikki was amazing and knowledgable the food was really good and good value. Not an extensive menu but I feel something for everyone
Our aim was to enjoy the rooftop patio at Mascot, but not surprisingly, that was everyone else's aim that evening too. So we went down to the brewery restaurant where it looked a bit empty. As we sat on the very high and hard benches we saw others tucked in the back. Our very charming waitress promptly brought the menu where our drink selection was minimal. No wine. You could get at 750ml bottle of beer for the price of a bottle of wine. Weird. Then we saw the food menu. It's minimalist to the extreme. We considered leaving but decided to stay and ordered fried chicken and the chicken wings. I was shocked at how well presented and more important, delicious my fried chicken was. A few things done well should never be doubted.
PS Bathrooms were pretty horrifying.
Got the burger and fries. Excellent all around.
Fantastic beers and beer selection. Excellent and friendly service.
HUGE rooftop patio. Highly reccommend.
There was a band the night I went that brought some great energy.
Great service inside the bar area and awesome ambiance on the patio!
Unfortunately it was raining so couldn't go to the patio, which was our original intent. So we just had drinks in the bar...service was great, but it was too loud to stay for dinner. Good vibe inside though...would like to go back and try the patio...
Found the food portions small for the price and not particularly special. Only condiment you get for your burger is a couple little of packets of ketchup.
Server was fantastic and gave great recommendations on beer and food.
This place came up when searching for places to go prior to a show at the Princess of Wales and reviews for the most part were great (one or two called out the service - an issue not apparent to us). We were greeted as soon as we walked through the door by one of the bartenders who confirmed our reservations and we were offered our choice of seats; place was quiet when we arrived but busy when we left and had a private buyout later in the evening. The space is very cool; tables, booths, and the bar is fabulous. Our waiter Stefan (sp?) was friendly, knowledgeable and attentive without lurking. Left our beer flights up to him after sharing what we generally drink and he was pretty much spot on. Menu while not huge was interesting and what we ordered was delish. We had the brat snack, the albacore poke bowl, & hamburger with fries. Glad we always take reviews with a grain of salt and look forward to returning to this gem on Mercer. Hear that the rooftop patio is worth a visit but even a stop-in for a seat at the bar before a Jays game would be worthwhile.
Great little place, lively, very good service. Music very loud and thumpy but no one else seemed to mind. We chose it for its proximity to Second City as one of my friends has mobility issues. Two points however: you seemed to be out of a number of your featured beers and we were unable to get sides of French fries "because you were running out of potatoes." Now that shouldn't happen ever!! Having said that, the food was good and well presented.
Food was fantastic but not a lot of vegetarian options. Great beer selection!
This hidden gem is amazing! Not only was our waitress extremely friendly and accommodating she also got to know our group, asked what we liked and didn't like regarding taste palate and made fabulous recommendations from what beer to drink to what food to get. I can't wait to go back! Great vibes
Went there for my birthday party on a Friday night. The decor is nice, the music is good, the beer selection is interesting and the food was great (except for the tartare which was super spicy and not mentioned on the menu)
All these elements makes it a place with good potential, but one main problem to be solved: the staff!
It was the worst ever! The place was 2/3 empty, and they were about 8staff: plenty.
Instead of doing there job, they were all on there phone, joking around, watching tv, drinking, and do everything you can imagine expect their job.
We had to wait generally 15min and ask twice for a beer to be served (when there was no mistake), brought half of the food, rude management (asked for a table photo and supervisor passing by refused us saying he was the supervisor and didn't take photo, to wait for the waitress 😳)
The worst is to see the drinks standing on the bar ready to be served, and all the staff passing multiple times in front of it and not touching it, just wandering around.
I wouldn't recommend this place and wouldn't go again as it ruined a bit the experience.
Knowing that we were 8 with a 400$ bill, I guess they could have focus a bit more.
No wonder why it was almost empty on a Friday night and their neighbour competitor are packed! Do something about the staff management and your service standards.
A cool little brewery with great food and a huge selection of beers
Amazing beer list - all the beers I tried were delicious! Black lager, white porter, sour beer. So good!!! Chicken with piri-piri and sauteed spinach/mushrooms with 'tater tots' was incredible. I don't normally order chicken at restaurants and I would definitely go back and order the same. Tartare was perfect and made on the spot. Relaxed atmosphere - loved watched the chefs do their thing in the kitchen.
I'll give the bad news first, the food menu is thin and there are only 2 wine choices; a red and a white, so if your a picky eater, want lots of food choice and care what wine you want then you might not find something you like.
However saying that, the food is excellent and I truly mean outstanding and the beer selection is fantastic, with many craft beers. Our party of 8 had two who weren't too happy when they first perused the menu but by the end of our meal they both were happy we stayed.
The atmosphere is minimalistic and the seats a little small but the food and drinks along with the very friendly staff quickly made us forget about those tinny chairs.
We all said we we would return and those that had the burger, said it was the best burger they've had!
The place was closed. So glad we made our reservation on OpenTable. Thanks for letting us drive an hour for nothing.
Food was amazing, as was our server. We just wish they were allowed to sell us a glass or some beer to take home. Seems like a missed opportunity.
Cool place! Nicely designed. Good beer selection. The Mac and cheese is outstanding! Staff was solid! I'll be going back! Cheers!
There were no Mascot beers available. Nothing at all. Calling itself a brewery without it's own beer is false. Apparently they ran out of beer and Duggans Brewery, who brews for them, messed up the last batch. I found that odd and VERY disappointing. Definitely won't be back though it's a shame because the rooftop is an awesome location. But no one was there, and neither was beer.
The food and staff were excellent. We enjoyed many of the dishes and look forward to returning to try those we missed.
Great patio and pre-game meeting spot.. bartender and wait staff were great. Much improved service from my last visit
Menu is very limited. Considering it's supposed to be Tapas and you're supposed to share the plates, there should be many more options.
Had my birthday here and I was NOT disappointed :) Great ambiance, vibes and staff! :) Would recommend this place to anybody for any occasion.
thanks for allow our reservation to sit on the beergarden rooftop. Taking in the last bit of sun during Sept, it was great! The service was friendly and our waitress (Laura) was always checking in. The food was AMAZING!!!!!
