A hidden gem in the international Jean-Georges Restaurants crown. In the former Seville hotel (now Edition), Matador offers an indoor and al fresco Latinx-influenced experience. Valerie the maitre d’ surmised that I’d enjoy the gorgeous bar in Matador Terrace. A hallmark of Jean-Georges #oneteamonedream hospitality is the guest’s ability to trust recommendations of the team. Yardy the runner and Michael, lead bartender were also above and beyond. The food and beverage? Outstanding (how can guest expectations be consistently exceeded?)! I focused on gulf fish, starting with the delicate yet piquant red snapper crudo and followed by grouper 😋 tacos. Couldn’t resist creating a Matador surf and turf by adding short rib tacos—sublime. The Matador mule with jamaica (anti-oxidant rich hibiscus) was a delightful discovery. By bringing one of each taco home, I had room for dessert: an exquisite interpretation of tres leches topped with tiny meringues and a pour of LUSTAU sherry oloroso.

Thanksgiving dinner and the Matador Room was truly exceptional. The food, the service and the vibe were all perfect. My husband and I absolutely love this restaurant and return every time we’re in Miami. Our waitress Kelly and the restaurant manger Eli were incredibly friendly and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy. Can’t wait to come back next trip!

Pretty uneventful. Living in NYC I unexpected “something” horrible service a fake wine “pro” (I won’t even say the appropriate name) we were there for 3 hours and we waited for 2. Also, ordered a drink from the bar-same drink was $5 more at table. 👎🏻

Terrible experience at Matador. Our drinks arrived 30 mins after ordering and after we had to remind the server we hadn’t had them yet (coffees and juices). Our food arrived and all 4 meals for 4 people were stone cold. Inedible. The manager came over and offered to make new meals and bring free apps which was nice. This was 1 hour in. We waited 45 mins longer and only 1 meal came out. We had guacamole and calamari (2 small dishes) free from the manager. 1 he 45 mins and The server came over to apologise and said our meal would be free and the other 3 meals out soon. We waited 15 mins more and no food arrived other than the 1 meal for 1 person so we left. The manager or server were nowhere to be seen. They were clearly embarrassed but handled the situation very bizarrely. We left 2 hours after arrival with only 1 person having eaten. The restaurant was only 50% busy. For a high end hotel this was abysmal! Do not recommend in the slightest.

It was very noisy. Food was great but slightly spoiled by being put on a table in the middle of some sort of party - engagement or birthday, lots of noisy and inconsiderate celebrants . ! We couldn’t understand why they would give a table of 3 in the middle of a party setting. We asked to move and it was ok but pay attention to your guests needs restaurateur !

Another great dinner at the Matador Room outside bar! The pizzas are to die for and the rice with chicken and crispy skins and the rice with veggies are served piping hot and bursting with flavors. The atmosphere is intimate despite the generous size of the bar. Flora and fauna surrounding the space adds to the coziness and being in your own little world. The bartenders are top notch - shout out to Max, Giselle and Michael for serving us great drinks (basil margarita, ginger margarita, espresso martini) and being so friendly, fast and attentive! We ate here 5 of the 5 nights at the hotel!

The stone crab was OK. The citrus/ beet salad was delicious and flavorful. The short ribs tacos lacked flavor. They were meaty, but lackluster. We started with a bottle of wine and it wasn't brought until halfway through the 2nd course. Service was TERRIBLE. The outdoor setting was gorgeous. $260.00 for a not great experience.

Cool vibe, awesome food and attentive service. Jean Georges does it right! My husband and I sat at the gorgeous outdoor bar and had delicious spicy basil margaritas. We then ordered dinner at the bar which was fun. The ricotta chorizo pizza was delicious as was the truffle pizza. My favorite dishes by far though are the chicken and rice dish and the veggie and rice dish. Served steaming hot and full of flavors! The bar staff is super fast, efficient and so friendly. We have eaten here so many times and will continue to do so whenever we stay at the Edition.

Overall good - but the food and service stopped short of being terrific. So the focaccia came cold instead of warm. . . the tres leches cake came dry on the top with the whip cream sliding down. . . the food was never described. . . and the service was rushed. But terrific ambiance and the arroz con pollo with the house hot sauce was brilliant.

To begin, our shared app of chicken tacos was good, but the was disappointing after that. Our two entrees were served a long time apart. After waiting several minutes, I started on mine and was 2/3rds finished before my partner's arrived. The first (tenderloin) would pretty much have been cold if I had waited for the second (lobster). That is not acceptable service at these prices and we had explicitly ordered these as one dish for each of us and not as sharing plates. The second issue is with the lobster dish itself. It comes with shoestring fries which arrive piled high over the lobster. So many fries that they had to be moved (by hand - no other way) to a separate plate to even see the lobster meat below. Not what a diner should have to do. On top of that, the fries themselves were greasy and left a foul aftertaste of cooking oil in the mouth, pretty much destroying the flavor of the lobster meat. I do not understand the logic of serving these with lobster and most of them were left uneaten. We pointed these issues out politely to the waiter at the end of the meal. Never got any response from a manager (didn't see one there) or other feedback so don't know if the comments were passed on. We were billed the full amount for everything ordered. Overall, overpriced for the quality of food and service.

Overall the Matador was a mixed dining experience. The location and ambiance was great. The menu had a wide selection and the food was good. The big challenge was with the slow service. In the end it was just an average experience at best

Beautiful setting (we sat outside) but inside is very elegant sleek design. Food was good, little overpriced probably because it’s at a fancy hotel. Note that’s it’s more tapas style than large plates (even the “larger” plates were small) I’d recommend for a special occasion.

The food choices are fresh and tasty, the ambience by the pool is relaxed and lovely. I had dinner here with a friend, she had sea bass which was excellent. I had the crab cakes which were also wonderful. A great dinner all the way around.

The setting is wonderful but I am sorry to say the food was disappointing. My husband order the steak which was good but nothing special. My snapper was dry and tasteless. Dessert, tres Lethe, was really good. Service was terrible. The waitress was fine. However, someone who places the dishes and silverware kept coming over to our table and although she thought she was entertaining she was intrusive, loud and obnoxious. At first we tried to be receptive but as her ‘visits’ continued she did not pick up on our cues to leave us alone. For the prices they charge you would expect much better service. Also the menu is rather limited. It is truly a shame since the setting both inside and out is

Matador has some similar things on menu as in La Cocina, Jean Georges’ restaurant in NYC which I visited many times so expectations were high. Octopus with the paprika sauce was excellent. Shrimp was good, had expected it to arrive more sizzling but that’s a minor thing. Lobster was lovely, would skip out on the massive portion of stringy fries plopped on top of it though. Cocktails are very good, ambiance is romantic, low lighting everywhere, perfect for a date night which is something that was sadly missed by the couple dining across from us, the man was busy watching sports games on his phone while his date quietly drank her celebratory glass of bubbles.

The space and atmosphere are beautiful! The food was delicious, but be prepared for slightly smaller serving sizes, go with someone you are happy to share multiple courses with. They were a bit short-staffed when we were there, like many places, they are struggling during the Pandemic with staffing shortages, but the woman who served us was very professional and doing her best to service about seven tables. It is a restaurant I would definitely recommend.
