   We usually enjoy Matchbox, but this one time the food was not served hot. We assume this was an unusual situation, and plan to return to Matchbox again in the future. We like the menu, the location, and the ambiance, and we hope next time the food will be served hot, especially the pizza and sliders.

   The food was fantastic but the service was sub-par. We were a table of 7. The waiter, who seemed new, forgot to bring silverware and napkins. We had to ask him 3 times. First he only brought silver and napkins for those not eating pizza. Even folks eating pizza need napkins. When we asked for a drink for my Mom, it took a full 12 minutes to arrive. My sister, who works in the food service industry, gave him a tip of 18% due her empathy for a fellow server. It was up to me, he would have only received 15%. He deserved 10%. The restaurant should have assigned a more experienced waiter for a party of 7. The restaurant was only half full when we arrived. There really is no excuse the for the bad service.

    Delicious food. Especially liked the crab and avocado dip. Also loved my cauliflower crust fire and wood pizza. Our waiter, Sebastian was wonderful.

    Had an extremely bad experience with the 2 young hostesses, which put a damper on the experience. They were rude, snotty, and had some sort of attitude for no apparent reason. They did not follow my request of the main dining room with my reservation. The one even rolled her eyes when I tried to clarify my request. I asked for the manager, who came and tried to placate me. Once I was finally seated, the manager came back to check on me later, which I greatly appreciated. The waiter was excellent. The food and cocktails were good. The place seemed to be run down though. It needs an update refresh. Will not ever be returning, due to the bad customer service from the hostesses. Good luck!!! Elder prejudice?? I wonder!!!

    The server was excellent. He checked on my husband and me multiple times. He didn't have/show any issues with anything my husband and I asked of him. My husband’s salmon was dry and overcooked. We mentioned it to the server and he apologized and another salmon was prepared. My husband was pleased.

    Waiter had a hard time communicating with us. He spoke in a very low tone. I got the crispy chicken salad it was just ok. The only one us who loved their dinner had the chicken sandwich spicy. Pizza crust was good.

    Great lunch on a rainy day. My friend and I spent a long time catching up and chatting. We never felt rushed. I had fig and proscuito pizza which was great. Ordering the delicious salad with it was a very good deal.

    I was a table of just one and felt pretty neglected. Got my food, she checked on me and got me some paper napkins per my request. No utensils, server grabbed some. Took forever to get the waitress’ attention to get a second beer. I was nearly finished with my food (which I let sit waiting on the beer) when it finally arrived. Wish she had offered me water when I was seated which would have helped. Food was fine.

    Food was really good had a party of 6. Our appetizers were the ginormous meatball and six sliders and an entree size apple pear salad. All of it was very good. Our server was Gustavo who was excellent and attentive. They seemed a little understaffed but they were able to keep up. Our entree’s were very good as well, I personally ordered the black bean veggie burger which was quite good. Others in the party order various pizzas and the half crispy chicken which received rave review. Would definitely go back.

    Lunchtime, 12p reservations. The place was pretty much deserted and yet somehow our waiter couldn't find a way to circle back and check on us every once in a while. Had to ask for water twice, and that was after FLAGGING HIM down.

    The food is delicious and there are a lot of options on the menu for everyone. It is good for families with great options for kids as well. The prices are a little higher then other places, but the food is high quality.

    Easter brunch at Matchbox was outstanding from start to finish. The brunch menu is interesting, and each of the three brunch dishes we ordered was amazing. Service was excellent. We are looking forward to having brunch at Matchbox again.

    Tonight’s dinner reservation was probably the worse experience I’ve had at this location. First we were seated at the very rear of the restaurant. Literally last possible seat at the very back in the restaurant…it wasn’t remotely crowded. Our waiter took our order that included an appetizer. However, he never bought the appetizer out so our entrees showed up and I let him know we just didn’t want it anymore because at that point it didn’t make sense. Then he just disappeared. He didn’t come back to check to see if we needed anything, if the food was ok, no drink refills. Nothing. I had to physically get up to go look for him and by that point I was just ready to go. We hadn’t even finished ordering what we came to the restaurant for. While he gave us the appetizer we no longer wanted for free and a slice of cheesecake which I definitely didn’t want, I’m still pretty irritated. I’ve been coming to this location for years and I’m not inclined to make it back ANY time soon. Do better.

    We had an awesome time at this establishment! I came up for a couples getaway and had an awesome time. Our only disservice was hair in the coleslaw. Thankfully we didn’t eat it !

    I chose the Matchbox Rockville location for birthday brunch with friends. We were seated next to the fireplace on a cold but sunny day so the ambiance was fantastic. Our waiter Gabriel was nice, professional and helpful. The table was a little small for our party of four, but the wait staff was attentive in clearing extra plates, etc. so not a significant issue. The food was enjoyable, but not memorable. I had the steak frites. The steak was a perfect medium rare but the fries underneath were a bit soggy. We also ordered the cinnamon buns for the table, but only one cinnamon bun arrived and felt over cooked. Another member had the Cobb salad and it was delicious. Our two other members had the French toast and said it was enjoyable but not memorable as well. Overall a good experience and I would return. Navigating the restaurant was simple enough and, while there was conversational noise, it wasn’t overwhelming. The fireplace seating did offer extra warmth and scenery, but didn’t cause any overheating. The interior dining was enjoyable and I’m hoping to try exterior dining on my next visit.

    About 2 minutes before I arrived, I received a phone call that the brunch buffet was not available, which was incredibly disappointing. The brunch food we ordered off the menu was good, not great...I expected better for the cost to be quite honest. Still fun overall but will adjust my expectations for the future.

    This was our second visit there. The first was just me and my wife; we were situated in a very cold back room and had to wait a very long time for our pizza, but we liked it enough to want to return. This time we went with two friends prepared for the cold, but we were in a front room that was comfortable and the pizzas came promptly. As before, good Queens style (very thin crust) although a bit overcooked so that it did not flop in the middle as the best Queens style should. We like the fire and smoke a lot, also got the garden veggie which was okay but a bit blander than I like (I like a little heat and usually end up adding some hot pepper flakes to store bought pizza).

    We love Matchbox but never went to Rockville because of the commute. But what a gem!! The restaurant is huge and nicely appointed. The service was excellent and the food was served timely. We go for the pizza and Coronas and a wing appetizer. All great there. To top it off, it was Latin Night and DJ Bachata Larry had patrons on the floor and it was a nice touch for the evening. Will definitely be coming back.

    We have come here many times. The mini burgers are delicious-best part are the thin fried onion rings. Pizza is always delicious. Our server Rose was attentive and efficient.
